FPL Gameweek 2 Analysis ~ Buy, Hold, Sell

Players to BUY Ahead of FPL GW2

Benrahma | Cost – 6.1m | TSB – 9.2%

FPL Gameweek 2 Analysis ~ Players to BUY ~ Benrahma

Hammers are red hot at the moment after thrashing Newcastle 4-2. Benny scored their 2nd goal and assisted the 4th, amassing 12 points in the process!

Playing as a second striker, he had plenty of opportunities for attacking returns. In the game, he attempted 2 shots in the box, had a big chance, and also created a big chance. His potential to both score and create makes him a great FPL asset.

Priced at just 6m, he is in a prime position to easily slide into your tight budget teams. On top of that, he is still owned by ~9% managers only, which further adds to the charm!

He is already getting a lot of attention from FPL managers, gaining around 171k new owners after the GW1 deadline.

With great fixtures ahead of him, he should be on top of your watchlist!!!

DCL | Cost – 8.0m | TSB – 12.4%

FPL Gameweek 2 Analysis ~ Players to BUY ~ Dominic Calvert Lewin

DCL was not a common pick before GW1 due to his fitness concerns. Though before the injury, his ownership was around 27%

This suggests, we already knew his fantasy appeal and he justified it by scoring the 3rd Everton goal against the saints. This helped the managers who kept faith in him with 7 points

But it’s not just the goal that’s worth looking at. All of his 5 shots were from inside the box, which is joint best among forwards. He also is joint 3rd on penalty area touches and joint 2nd on SOT.

While the data period is thin for this season, he was on similar levels last season as well. It’s heartening to see him continue the same.

Even with 128k new owners, he is still owned by less than 15% of managers, giving you a good player segment to target to cover lost ground.

What’s better than form? Form and Fixtures!!!

If his form was not enough, below are his fixtures. With Leeds’ defensive struggles against united and Brighton’s inept set-piece defending, these fixtures could be easier than they look on papers.

Players to Hold Ahead of FPL GW2

Grealish | Cost – 8.0m | TSB – 22.6%

FPL Gameweek 2 Analysis ~ Players to Hold ~ Jack Grealish

It was a surprise to see City not open their scoring against Spurs. But did they play bad enough to end up with 0 goals? Maybe not!

They attempted 18 shots, 11 in the box, ending up with an xG of 1.8 goals. Grealish himself contributing to 3 shots in the box and 8 penalty area touches

Due to his blank returns, he has already been sold by over 151k managers ahead of his fixture against Norwich (H).

Are they being too impatient?

KDB’s involvement against Norwich seems imminent, which should allow Grealish to go one step near to the goal.

To top it, Gundogan’s injury concerns should help Grealish’s chance of starting the game, which in fairness was already very high!

If I had Grealish, I would not be selling him before a home game against Norwich!

Toney | Cost – 6.5m | TSB – 30.0%

FPL Gameweek 2 Analysis ~ Players to Hold ~ Ivan Toney

Another casualty of the FPL roulette, Toney has already been shown the door by over 85k managers. To be honest, this looked imminent after his blank against Arsenal, where Brentford in general were really good.

There is no sugar coating that he had a poor performance, speaking strictly FPL wise. Though, his impact on Brentford’s win was unparalleled.

He is a proven goal scorer with decent fixtures going ahead. If you are his owner, trust the thought process you had before GW1!

Players to Sell Ahead of FPL GW2

Kane | Cost – 12.5m | TSB – 10.8%

FPL Gameweek 2 Analysis ~ Players to Sell ~ Harry Kane

Harry Kane’s ownership has already started to plummet. He is the most transferred out man before GW2, already infuriating 248k managers

He was left out of the squad owing to a lack of match readiness according to the Spurs manager. However, his absence is truly a subject of interpretations and the one topping the list is his “uncertain future”

Future uncertainty impacts all the players and it’s hard to say how long will this saga drag – could even be the end of this month! In such a situation, it’s best not to bet on the player’s performance, regardless of his inclusion or exclusion from the matchday squad.

With so much value in the premium midfield bracket including his teammate Son (10m), it is needless to invest so heavily in a player whose situation is not the best right now!

Saka | Cost 6.5m | TSB – 12.7%

FPL Gameweek 2 Analysis ~ Players to Sell ~ Bukayo Saka

Saka is another player who gained initial popularity among the FPL managers and more so after illness updates to PEA and Lacazette.

There are no concrete updates on any of the front men as of yet and in turn some questions around their starting line-up. While it may have no impact on Saka’s starting spot, statistically speaking Arsenal lacked the appeal we look for in fantasy assets.

They had an xG of 0.9 against a promoted side and are set to face Chelsea and Man City in the next two games.

More than 162k managers have shipped him out already, and with a plethora of options in the 6m-7m range, I can’t question them!

So that was my list of players to buy, hold and sell. Thanks for reading! Feel free to drop some comments down below 🙂
