FPL Gameweek 1 Team reveal by FplSinghs | 20/21 TOP 10K(7745)

This FPL Gameweek 1 Team reveal blog is written by @FplSinghs had achieved an impressive rank of Top 7k last season and with just a few days to go till the first kick-off of the 2021/22 Fantasy Premier League season, it would be an ideal time to take a dive into my team and understand why I made those choices!

This blog is part of our free-to-access FPL Team reveals of our allaboutfpl specialists which is a team of six writers with multiple top 10k, 5k, and top 500 finishes amongst them. You can find all of the team reveals here for free.

Please note the draft is the current version and the allaboutfpl specialists might change it closer to the deadline. The team will be updated in the blog and also on their Twitter accounts. So follow @FplSinghs on Twitter to stay updated!

FPL Gameweek 1 team reveal

FPL Gameweek 1 Goalkeepers

FPL Gameweek 1 team reveal ~ Goalkeepers

The player occupying the first Goalkeeper spot in my team is none other than, Sanchez (£4.5)

It is rather an anti-climatic pick to begin with, however, I believe his underlying stats last season look encouraging and I wouldn’t put it past him to pick up a few Clean Sheets in his first 6 fixtures (bur-WAT-EVE-bre-LEI-cry). He racked up an expected clean sheet total of 12.92 over the whole of last season despite only featuring 26 times for the Seagulls.

His counterpart Steele (£4.0) will fill in as the second goalkeeper in my team which secures me of an assured playing goalkeeper if Sanchez was to get injured.

FPL Gameweek 1 Defenders

FPL Gameweek 1 team reveal ~ Defenders

Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.5) is not only the first Defender in my team, but is also the most nailed player among all the positions. His numbers speak for themselves – 7.5 points per game in the last 10 games of the 2020/21 season

In that same period of time, he was the highest point scorer in the whole game (75 points), scoring 15 more points than his Liverpool teammate, Salah (60 points).

The highest owned player in the game, Luke Shaw (£5.5) takes up the position next to him.

Dominating the crossing charts among defenders last season with his impressive 2.40 Attempted Assists per 90, he is sure to be feeding the likes of Cavani, Martial and Sancho with excellent deliveries and I do expect him to accompany his attacking prowess by securing more Clean Sheets than he did last season as Varane joins their defence.

Tsimikas (£4.0) has been the name on everyone’s lips amid Robertson’s injury during Pre-season. It is believed he will fill-in for the left-back during his time on the sidelines.

This presents us with an option to possess a Liverpool defender for as cheap as £4.0 who will be facing (nor-BUR-CHE-lee-CRY-bre) in their first 6 fixtures.

Occupying the fourth spot is Leeds defender, Luke Ayling (£4.5). Despite having a quiet season in terms of attacking output, I expect him to offer significantly more attacking threat down the Right side given he will spend less time filling in at Centre-Back.

Amartey (£4.0) is the last defender on the team and is there purely due to his price as well as the hope that he will retain his place in Leicester’s team for the first few games of the season.

FPL Gameweek 1 Midfielders

FPL Gameweek 1 team reveal ~ Midfielders

Mohamed Salah (£12.5) is an essential pick. There- I’ve said it!

Yes, no player can ever be essential, but Salah is the only player in the game that doesn’t need to be justified using his expected data and stats. As long as he is fit and firing, he should and will be in most FPL managers’ teams. He has looked bright in pre-season and will be keen to start the season on the right foot.

No, this team is not a BruNO draft. Hence, Bruno Fernandes (£12.0) falls nicely into my team alongside Salah as my 2nd Premium Midfielder

If we are talking numbers, Fernandes had the highest xA (Expected Assists) of all players playing in the Premier League last season with 11.28. On top of his assist potential, one thing that he is known for is his efficiency from the Penalty spot. Adding the likes of Sancho to the attack will only add to the number of penalties we could see Manchester United be awarded this season.

Raphinha (£6.5) is, in my opinion, the most underpriced asset in FPL this season.

The sheer threat that he brought to the Leeds attack was scary and lethal at times. Ranking 3rd in the game for Big Chances Created (12) from GW8 last season.

Harvey Barnes (£7.0) has thoroughly impressed throughout Pre-Season and looks to be at his best after recovering from an injury-stricken period.

The directness of his game fits Leicester’s playstyle like a glove and the pace he possesses will scare defenders when they hit teams on the counter. The midfielder amassed  6 Goals and 4 assists in 13 games at one point of last season, right before he got injured.

Playing relatively weak defences in the likes of Norwich, Palace, and Brentford in their first 9 fixtures only adds to his appeal for me.

The last midfielder that completes my 3-5-2 formation is Manchester United’s Number 11, Mason Greenwood (£7.5).

The big reason he is in my team is that he has had a full Pre-Season as well as the fact that Man Utd look to start the season without Rashford and Cavani which means he’s probably going to feature in their front 3 alongside Martial and Sancho.

FPL Gameweek 1 Forwards

FPL Gameweek 1 team reveal ~ Forwards

The transfer of Danny Ings (£8.0) has seen many FPL managers make the switch to him over his strike partner, Ollie Watkins.

He has been in my team ever since his signing and the fact he looks to be starting the season as Villa’s talisman up-top or alongside Watkins, mean that those 3 opening fixtures of (wat-NEW-BRE) could see him explode and gain you those double-digit hauls.

Michail Antonio (£7.5) is someone who I have always kept a close eye on every time he’s fit.

I believe I will be starting the season with him in the attack as I see him surpassing his 10 goal tally that he accomplished last season. West Ham have come out of Pre-Season as the in-form team where Antonio has got 3 goals in 3 games

He is also priced at a price point that consists of other Forwards like Wilson, Jimenez, Watkins, and Iheanacho which means that switching across to one of them won’t require me to take any hits.

The bench Forward that I have alongside them is Watford’s Perica (£4.0)
