FPL BGW36 Differential Picks to Consider Ahead of FPL GW36 Deadline

We are back for another game week and it’s FPL GW36 already, we are at the business end of the season with just three more deadlines to go. It is absolutely essential to get our transfers right. A few differentials during this point are absolutely essential especially with the fact that GW36 being a blank game week. In this blog, we’ll look at a few of the differentials options from the teams playing in FPL GW36 who could help boost your ranking and also climb up places in your Mini League as we enter the business end of the 2020/21 FPL Season.

Please Note: Player ownership are from the time of writing and are subjected to change as we move close to the deadline

FPL GW36 Differential Picks(<=10%)

Chris Wood vs Leeds United(H), £6.4, TSB: 3.6%

Chris Wood FPL GW36 Differential pick
Chris Wood simply cannot stop scoring🔥

Burnley have been enjoying a great run of form over the last few weeks and it is down to the form of Chris Wood. The Burnley forward has now scored 8 goals and made three assists since GW27. Wood has also been very consistent blanking once during the period which was a tough game away from home to Manchester United. Wood tops the forwards stats and is the highest-scoring FPL forward since GW30 with 49 points.

Chris Wood stats since GW30 amongst forwards

Shots: 26(2nd)
Shots on Target: 13(1st)
Shots inside box: 18(1st)
Big chances: 8(1st)
xG:5.30(1st)
Goals: 8(1st)
Key passes: 8(3rd)
Big chances created: 1(4th)
xA: 1.51(4st)
Assists: 3(1st)
Headed Attempts: 8(1st)

Wood and Burnley now face Leeds, Liverpool and Sheffield United in the remaining games of the season and there is potential for big returns in 2/3 games. If you’re chasing and look at a direct head to head with Bamford i would prefer Wood as he’s still lowly owned which will make his haul sweeter for us managers. Wood is also 4 points and two goals shy of his best FPL and PL season and he’ll look to improve that!

Michail Antonio vs Brighton (A), £6.4, TSB: 5.9%

Michail Antonio FPL GW36 Differential pick
Michail Antonio to end the season on a high like last year?

Michail Antonio has had an injury-filled season and there were rumors that he’ll not play again this season. But the West Ham attacker is once again back to his goal-scoring best having scored two goals in his return to action against Burnley in GW34. Amongst all the forward in the game, Antonio has the best set of fixtures to close the season, BHA(A), WBA(A), SOU(A). All the three teams are at the beach and have nothing to play for whereas the hammers are chasing European football. Antonio and the hammers would be highly motivated by the same.

Antonio is up against Brighton who have a very good defensive system and concede very few goals scoring chances, just seven big chances in the last six games(Only Chelsea and Man City have conceded lesser). They are missing Veltman and Dunk for this game week and that might make the equation interesting. Antonio has been linking up very well with Lingard in the games they have played and is see that pace of the duo troubling Brighton’s defensive setup. Moving on to GW37 and GW38, Antonio plays WBA, Southampton two of the worst defenses in the premier league this season and it screams goals.

WBA and Southampton have conceded 11 goals in the last six games(second worst in the PL only behind Sheffield). Southampton have conceded 17 big chances as well (Again second worst in the PL only behind Sheffield).

If you’re looking at Bamford/Antonio, i would go for Antonio as he’s assured the full 90. He’s played 90 in both the games since returning whereas Bamford has been removed early by Bielsa and not just that the two games against WBA and Southampton are hard to ignore.

Riyad Mahrez vs Newcastle(A), £8.0, TSB: 5.7%

Riyad Mahrez FPL GW36 Differential pick
Mahrez has the potential for a big haul against Newcastle United

Just imagine Mahrez as an FPL asset starting regularly, he would be one of the first names in any FPL team. However, sadly part of a pep roulette Mahrez never plays regularly to warrant a place in our teams for longer runs but as we have reached the business end of the season with three games to go it might well be a good gamble to trust him again. Mahrez has not played the last two premier league games and is likely to start against Newcastle United in FPL GW35. The best thing about Mahrez is that he’s an explosive player and has returned double-digit hauls 5/10 he has returned so far this season with one 20+ point haul.

He’s up against Newcastle United who’s defensive numbers are absolutely shambles with 117 shots conceded(Worst in PL), 18 big chances(Worst in PL), and 13.29 xGC (Worst in PL) since GW30. Newcastle are also very poor at home having kept one clean sheet at St James park conceding 29 times this season. All of this indicated this to be a high-scoring game and Mahrez might be on his way to a big double-digit haul!

Owned by just 5% managers Mahrez could be even an high risk high reward captaincy option for this week if you are looking to claim lost ground in the overall rankings and min leagues.

Here’s a comparison between Mahrez and Foden done by one of our writer @fplosama

If you’re looking at another Man City attacker Phil Foden, £6.0, TSB: 8% could also be a good option. But the explosiveness of Mahrez means i would prefer him over Foden.

Danny Ings vs Fulham(H), £8.4, TSB: 6%

Danny Ings FPL GW36 Differential pick
Ings is back fit and scoring goals for fun!

Danny Ings is one of the prolific goal scorers in the Premier League and showed his class once again against Crystal Palace scoring twice as Southampton got a victory after quite some time. Ings has scored 34 times and assisted 6 times since the beginning of last season which speaks of how prolific he can be. He’s up against a Fulham who are already relegated to the Championship once again.

Both teams have little to play for but Ings has quite a lot to play for, he’s out of contract next season and would want to prove his point by scoring a few goals to catch the eyes of potential clubs looking at him or try and get an even better contract with Southampton. The last two fixtures look good as well with games against Leeds and West Ham. So if you got the funds Ings is definitely an option to consider for the remainder of the season.

Che train once again?

Danny Ings has built a very good partnership with Che Adams(£5.7), TSB: 4.5%. The duo look lethal together and combined once again against Crystal Palace after being reunited. Adams too could be a great option if you’re looking at a cheaper option. He has scored 8 goals this season and will look to add a few more to prove that he’s more than capable of taking up the bulk of the goal-scoring duties if in case Ings leaves.

Sadio Mane vs West Bromwich Albion(A), £11.7, TSB: 5.6%

Sadio Mane FPL GW36 Differential pick
Assured of a sure start Mane could do the damage against West Brom

Sadio Mane has had a poor season so far. He was never in the mix as an FPL asset amongst FPL managers for most of this season. But he has regained some of his lost confidence by scoring against his former club Southampton in FPL GW35. He was benched/rested against Manchester United last night and came in as a substitute which further increases his appeal as an FPL asset as he’s now fairly nailed to start against West Bromwich Albion.

West Brom are already relegated and have nothing to play for and I feel this is the game where Liverpool go bonkers. Last year’s champions hit 4 past-hated rivals Manchester United and are pushing for a champions league spot and it looks like it will go down till the last minute. Their four points off a champions league spot with a game in hand. Liverpool need goals to strengthen their Goal difference. Chelsea at fourth have a GD of +22, Leicester City at third have a GD of +21. Liverpool currently have a GD of +20 with a game in hand. They would like to hit as many as possible against WBA to be sure they do not miss out on Champions League football because of Goal Difference.

West Brom are abysmal this season at Hawthorns conceding 34 goals(most at home for any club this season) and this game screams goals. Sadio could be the perfect transfer in and even a differential captain if you’re looking to make up lost ground.

Liverpool have easy games in 37 and 38 too with games against Burnley and Crystal palace who have also got nothing to play for. Just a reminder Liverpool hit seven goals past a hopeless Palace defence earlier this season.
