EURO Fantasy Chip Strategy: What to do with the Elusive Boosts?

In this EURO Fantasy chip strategy post, I delve into everything Chips; what each one actually does, how you can use each one, and when is best to use each one.

Euro Fantasy Chips

What is the Wildcard Chip?

The Wildcard is identical to the Chip used in FPL, so managers should find it easy to navigate:

• Unlimited Transfers
• Squad Remains same next Matchday (MD)
• All Original Transfers Before WC is played are Removed

What is the Limitless Chip?

I would say the Limitless is the closest to the Free Hit in FPL, but with a few huge, key differences:

• Unlimited Transfers
• Unlimited Budget!
• Squad Remains same next Matchday (MD)
• All Original Transfers Before Limitless is played are Removed

Euro Fantasy Chip strategy:

When to Play?

There are a number of possible strategies for when to play the Chips. For me, to maximise points, you have to play at least 1 in the Group Stages; targeting the weak teams in the tournament, and tripling up on the big teams could result in big hauls.

The Limitless Chip should definitely be played in the Group Stages, so those premium players can be targeted when playing poor sides. In the Group Stage, this will occur every Matchday, so this is the ideal time to use it.

a) Wildcard MD2, Limitless MD3

Here you have Limitless on:
FIN vs BEL
NMC vs NET
CZE vs ENG
SLO vs SPA
GER vs HUN

Also having a WC to target:
UKR vs NMC
ENG vs SCO
HUN vs FRA

• Target Poor Teams
• Bank on Favourable Results

• Worse Set up After Last 16

b) Limitless MD2, Wildcard QFs

This allows you to target the easy fixtures, and also prep for the latter stages! These teams all have favourable fixtures in Matchday 1 & 3:

  1. Italy – TUR + WAL
  2. Switzerland – wal + tur
  3. Belgium – rus + fin
  4. Denmark – FIN + RUS
  5. Austria – mkd + ukr
  6. Netherlands – UKR + MKD
  7. Spain – SWE + SVK
  8. Poland – svk + swe

• Better Set Up after Last 16

• Last 16 Easy to Call
• Lose out on GS Points

Summary of the ideal Euro chip strategy

For me, the best strategy is playing the Wildcard in MD2 & Limitless MD3, as it allows you to target the games that are predictable. The Last 16 will mostly be predictable, so a new team in QFs won’t be necessary.
