Gameweek 22 Review
Points: 69 points + Gameweek rank: 2.4m
I was very fortunate in GW22 to beat my 6th opponent in the FPL Cup (by a measly 1 point). He got 68 points and had captained Fernandes compared to my Salah captain. I was very pleased with Raphinha (9 points), Antonio (8 points), Cancelo (6 points), Dias (6 points) and Gundogan (8 points).
It feels like it has been weeks since I had my captain return points. As such, I have been stagnating within the same rank bracket (150k-200k). After 4 green arrows in a row, I finally got my first red arrow in recent weeks and dropped about 20% of my rank.
Annoyingly I also seem to be benching a minimum of 15 points every week alongside getting the captaincy wrong. I can only dream of where my rank would be had I played my bench correctly and not missed so many captains this season.
My overall rank dropped from 154k to 184k.
Overall Rank
I am now 23 points away from the Top 100k (a personal goal I strive for every season). I still feeling gutted about captaining Salah over Fernandes)!
I feel confident of achieving this by the end of the season but the all elusive consecutive Top 10k finish is looking difficult to achieve whilst I am still 87 points behind! Perhaps a more realistic stretch target for the season is the Top 50k (45 points behind right now).
Reassessing the landscape – planning for the next Double Gameweeks & Blank Gameweeks (DGW24, 25,27 and BGW29)
We’re finally about to come out the other side of 4GWs in just 2 weeks. There is 1 normal GW ahead of us before 3-4 consecutive DGWs from 24-27 and a BGW29 approaching us.
I highly recommend using Ben Crellin’s team planner to help you navigate the upcoming 8 GWs. There are massive gains to be made with strategic chip usage.
FPL GW 23 Team Reveal
Current team with 2FT and £2.6m in the bank
Some thoughts about this plus my revised approach to DGW24, 25, 26 & 27 + BGW29 & BGW33
- I will aim to have 2 FTs in GW24/25 and all my moves prior to then are focused on DGW players only.
- I intend on using FTs to prepare for FPL DGW24, 25, 26 & 27 + BGW29 with my second Wildcard being triggered around GW30/31 to prepare for the final stretch of the season.
- I’m still eager to use Triple Captain in Gameweek 26 (on Son or Kane, Spurs will have the two best DGW26 fixtures)
I believe there isn’t a one size fits all answer for the next set of BGWs and DGWs. It will predominantly depend on if you still have your FH, BB, TC and second Wildcard handy.

Captain for FPL GW 23
I wanted to captain Son vs West Brom in GW23 but watching him vs Chelsea last night was painful. He had his first touch in the opposition box around 87 minutes into the game.
It looks like that teams have figured out that if they block the Son counter-attack, Mourinho’s Spurs have no idea what to do. They are really missing Kane’s creativity and world-class abilities.
I am currently sitting on a Bruno captaincy and Antonio vice-captain. Bruno is likely to be over 100% EO again this week and he seems to safest pick for me.
Antonio has looked close to a hat trick in nearly every game since his return, he is an exciting differential captain for those that want to go against the crowd.
I’ve included the Opta Stats from Fantasy Football Hub for all 3 of my potential captains as I am still undecided and want to give you more data including the projected points for all 3 of my choices.
The FFH Predicted Points Tool has Bruno on 5.9 points in GW23.
The FFH Predicted Points Tool has Son on 6.9 points in GW23.
The FFH Predicted Points Tool has Antonio on 4.8 points in GW23.

Updated Watchlist for FPL GW 23:
(Bold names are new this week)
I will maintain an updated Watchlist in this section. I have identified players that I want to buy for my own team over the next 5 GWs. I will also be listing which players are on the chopping blocks in favour of these players on the watchlist.
Goalkeepers: Pope, Martinez, Areola
Out-list: Johnstone, McCarthy
Defenders: Mee, Lowton, Maguire, Digne, Rudiger.
Out-list: Robertson
Midfielders: Lookman, Grealish, Barnes, Maddison, Saka
Out-list: Son
Forwards: Ings, Kane, Calvert-Lewin, Watkins, Werner, Lacazette
Out-list: Rodrigo
Players I’ve removed/added to my Watchlist ahead of FPL GW23:
Added
Ings– he could have 3 consecutive DGWs in 25, 26 and 27
Kane – should be back in GW24 vs Man City, has the best DGW26 fixtures
Lookman – a bargain with okay DGW24 fixtures
Mee/ Lowton – want to get at least 1 if not 2 Burnley defenders for their DGW24
Pope – bonus points magnet with great DGW24 fixtures
Son – added to my out-list as he has been a huge dissapointment with Kane out. I want him for DGW26 but will be monitoring Spurs form closely ahead of then.
Removed
Mitchell– seems to have lost his place back to Van Aanholt, a real shame as he was a great enabler at £3.9m
Raphinha – was on my out-list but he has been a real gem of a player for my team. He will have DGW25 and not blank in GW29 so he is likely to stay now. Unless I do the hokey cokey for Lookman in GW24 and buy Raphinha back in GW25.

These are the 2 options I am going to decide between tomorrow:
- Johnstone to Pope and roll 1FT to have 2FT going into DGW24.
- Robertson to Mee or Lowton and roll 1FT.
In DGW24 with my 2FT I will be looking at the following moves:
- I will potentially do whichever of the two moves above I didn’t make in GW23 so I can get double Burnley defence for their DGW24 fixtures.
- Could do Son or Raphinha to Lookman (for his DGW24 fixtures)
- Or could do Rodrigo to Calvert–Lewin (for his DGW fixtures)
In DGW25 will potentially look at:
- Rodrigo to Ings (he could have 3 consecutive DGWs in 25, 26 and 27).
- Revert Lookman to Raphinha/Son (for his DGW25 and will not blank in GW29)
- Aston Villa vs Everton could still be moved into DGW25 so another reason for me rolling a FT this week. This would make DCL, Digne, Grealish or Watkins much more attractive for me as GW24/25 transfers.
In DGW26:
- If I did not buy Ings, then Rodrigo to Kane
- If I did buy Ings, then Antonio to Kane
I am most likely to only use 1FT in GW23 so I can go into GW24 with 2FT and lots of flexibility in my next moves. I also hope that between GW24-26 we hear definitive news regarding DGW26 fixtures and corresponding BGW29 cancelled fixtures.
