FPL Gameweek 6 Transfer Tips: Two Players to Buy, Hold & Sell

The big global headline this week came from Paris, where Ousmane Dembélé was crowned Ballon d’Or winner — a reward for his dazzling season at PSG. It’s a reminder that football’s stars don’t just shape results, they shape narratives — brilliance that can tilt entire campaigns.

Back home in England, the Premier League table tightened as Manchester United beat Chelsea, climbing level on points with their city rivals despite already navigating three of last season’s top four. The win adds spice to both the title and top-four races, while also putting United assets back on the FPL radar.

There’s also good news for Crystal Palace fans (and watchful FPL managers) as Ismaïla Sarr edges closer to returning from injury. His pace and directness could reignite Palace’s attack, offering an intriguing mid-priced option once he’s fully fit.

But the week’s strangest subplot came courtesy of Hugo Ekitiké. The forward grabbed a dramatic late winner, only to undo his heroics by celebrating with his shirt off — his second yellow, and straight to a red card. For FPL managers, it means an enforced absence right when he was becoming a budget differential to monitor. Momentum cut short, and another reminder of how rash decisions can swing your fantasy fortunes.

So, let’s start with our BUY-HOLD-SELL article for this GW, sponsored by …. Well, nobody. We are poor, but you can help here if you want 😊

FPL GW6 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY

Erling Haaland (£14.3m) – FWD, Man City – 44.0% TSB

FPL GW6 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY- Haaland

The Man City talisman is leading the charts for every metric:

  • Shots, Shots on Target, Shots in the Box
  • Big Chances, xG, Goals Scored
  • xGI, Goal Involvements
  • xPts, BPS, Bonus Points, FPL Points

Burnley, meanwhile, are ranked 20th for Shots Conceded, Shots in the Box Conceded, Shots on Target Conceded, NPxGC, and xGC. In other words: the worst possible defence to face Haaland.

The only caveat is the yellow flag — minor back pain saw him withdrawn against Arsenal and miss the Carabao Cup. Guardiola insists he’s optimistic for the weekend. If fit, this isn’t just a buy — it’s a Triple Captain shout. Watch out for Friday’s Press Conference updates.

Richarlison (£6.7m) – FWD, Spurs – 15.1% TSB

FPL GW6 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY- Richarlison

Quietly, Richarlison is turning into a must-watch differential. Wolves rank 19th for non-penalty xG conceded and overall goals conceded, while Spurs sit 2nd in the league for goals scored. That’s the perfect storm for an attacker who’s central to his team’s forward play.

Richarlison consistently finds pockets of space in dangerous areas, makes clever runs behind defences, and is clinical when chances come his way. He feels like one of those differentials you regret not jumping on early — when both the numbers and fixtures scream upside.

Richarlison Stats this season: (Rank among Forwards):

  • Shots- 13 (2nd)
  • Shots inside the box- 13 (2nd)
  • Big Chances- 2 (Joint 6th)
  • nPxG- 1.64 (6th)
  • Goal Involvements- 4 (3rd)
  • FPL Points- 29 (4th)

Key Stat: Only Haaland has more Shots and Shots inside the Box than Richarlison in the league this season.

Matchup alert: In the last 3 weeks, Strikers who have played against Wolves have all scored- Beto(GW3), Woltemade(GW4) and Calvert Lewin(GW5).

FPL Gameweek 6 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD

Mohamed Salah (£14.5m) – MID, Liverpool – 50.8% TSB

FPL Gameweek 6 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD- Salah

He’s the most transferred-out player this week, but let’s check the facts. Salah has blanked only once this season. In the last league meeting with Palace in May, he scored. And when you compare his early-season numbers with previous years, the “decline” looks overblown:

SalahGW1-5Total
22/2335239
23/2433211
24/2549344
25/2630?

Selling him now is peak recency bias — Salah always finds his way back, and Palace is not the fixture to bet against him.

Pedro Porro (£5.6m) – DEF, Spurs – 24.1% TSB

FPL Gameweek 6 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD- Porro

The second most transferred-out defender this week, but the herd is wrong. Spurs have conceded the second-fewest goals and kept the second-most clean sheets this season. Their next two opponents? Wolves and Leeds — ranked 17th and 19th for xG, and 19th and 17th for goals scored, respectively.

Porro isn’t just a clean sheet magnet, he also carries attacking upside. Selling him now feels like jumping off a rock-solid asset just as fixtures are about to turn gold.

Florian Wirtz (£8.2m) – MID, Liverpool – 13.4% TSB

FPL Gameweek 6 Transfer Tips: Two Players to Sell - Wirtz

Despite the hype, Wirtz has yet to register a goal or assist in six appearances. He hasn’t completed 90 minutes in all but one game, suggesting rotation and managed minutes. And with a tough fixture run ahead, his output looks unlikely to spike.

At £8.2m, he’s priced like a premium but producing like a punt. That’s not a profile you want soaking up budget right now.

Cole Palmer (£10.4m) – MID, Chelsea – 19.0% TSB

FPL Gameweek 6 Transfer Tips: Two Players to Sell- Palmer

Palmer’s early exit against United wasn’t just drama — it flagged a recurring groin issue. Enzo Maresca admitted he wasn’t fully fit and that his minutes are being managed “day by day.” Reports suggest a 3–6 week layoff is possible if the injury worsens.

Add Chelsea’s congested schedule and Buonanotte pushing for minutes, and Palmer suddenly carries both injury and rotation risk. At £10.4m, he looks like a luxury you can’t afford this week.

Put those together — injury doubt, possible extended absence, and increased rotation risk — and holding Palmer this week carries a lot more risk than reward.
