FPL GW22 Differential picks to consider ahead of GW22 Deadline

GW21 was a very good game week for those who backed Mo Salah and gave him the captaincy and wasn’t good for the rest. Another blank for Son and Bruno, Pep’s roulette struck FPL managers again. But there is no time to dwell on it as FPL GW22 is less than 30 hours away. The differential picks are more important than ever before. If you are looking for differential picks with less than 10% TSB, we have got it covered for you with stats and analysis. Check our top 5 differential picks for FPL GW22 below!

FPL GW22 Differential Picks:

Matheus Pereira vs Sheffield United(A), TSB: 1.6%

Matheus Pereira FPL GW22 Differential pick
Pereira is in for another big haul

It has been a tough start for Big Sam as West Brom manager, but one big positive since his arrival has Matheus Pereira. The Brazilian has registered 4 goals and 2 assists in 7 matches under the new regime. Not only that, in the last 6 matches only Ilkay Gundogan(47) has got more points in FPL than Pereira(42).

Pereira has some amazing fixtures coming up in the next month or so. In fact West Brom face four of the bottom six sides in the next 6 matches. For starters in FPL GW22 he takes on rock bottom Sheffield United who have taken just 4 points at home all season.

Yerry Mina vs Leeds(A), TSB:5.1%

Yerry Mina FPL GW22 Differential pick
Mina could help undo Leeds yet again from a set play

At first glance, Yerry Mina might seem a controversial pick given Leeds have hit top gear again. However, Leeds are more comfortable on the road than at Elland Road. Bielsa’s men have picked up just 11 points at home and have scored just 13 goals as opposed to 18 points away netting 22 goals. Furthermore, Everton have picked up 19 points away from home and only Manchester City(6) have conceded fewer goals than Everton(9) on the road.

One of the reasons why Leeds have struggled this season is they inability to defend set pieces. No team has conceded more goals from dead balls and Leeds. Everton are one of the best sides from set pieces in the league and only WestHam and Chelsea have scored more. Yerry Mina is Everton’s biggest threat from set pieces, he has already scored twice in the league and he also netted in the FA Cup last weekend.

To further boost the prospect of a clean sheet for Everton, Raphinha and Rodrigo are both major injury doubts for Leeds.

FPL GW22 Prediction time: A James Rodriguez corner finding Yerry Mina’s head is something we’ve all been seeing since the World Cup in 2018 and we have a sneaky feeling we’re about to see that unravel once more in FPL GW22!

Luke Shaw vs Southampton(H), TSB:2.9%

Luke Shaw FPL GW22 Differential pick
Shaw is the best option from the improving Manchester United defense

We tipped Luke Shaw as a differential pick a couple of GWs back, but unfortunately he was rested. Alex Telles came in and didn’t cover himself in glory at all as Manchester United lost to bottom club Sheffield United. It is safe to say that Luke Shaw is nailed on to start now.

Manchester United have been improving steadily defensively. The Red Devils have kept 4 clean sheets in the last 7 matches. Luke Shaw in his last six appearances has accumulated an xA of 2.17, which is more than any other defender in that time. The left back was unlucky not to get an assist against Arsenal last time out as Edinson Cavani inexplicably missed from 4 yards out trying to latch on to a cross from Shaw. Surely, this is the GW where his long awaited big haul is going to arrive.

Manchester United’s opponents in FPL GW22, Southampton have scored just 2 goals in their last 7 matches. This has largely been down to a number of injuries they have had in that time. To further add Luke Shaw’s appeal, Southampton in the absence of Kyle Walker-Peters in the last two games have been caught out in their right hand side. The likes of Pepe and Grealish have thrived in the last couple of matches.

Finally, it is worth looking at the fixtures Manchester United have in the next 3 GWs after FPL GW22. They take on Everton, West Brom and Newcastle after facing the Saints.

Alexandre Lacazette vs Wolves(A), TSB:8.5%

Lacazette FPL GW22 Differential pick
Lacazette to pile more misery on a hapless Wolves side

Arsenal are one of the most in form teams in the league. They have picked up 17 points in the last 7 matches. Only Manchester City have got registered a better tally at that time. Alexandre Lacazette has been one of the major contributors to this resurgence from the Gunners. The Frenchman has found the back of the net 5 times in this period and also got himself an assist.

Lacazette FPL Numbers ahead of FPL GW22:

  1. Lacazette has accumulated an xG of 4.66 in the last seven matches, which is significantly higher than Gundogan(3.21), who is second in the list.
  2. 6 of Lacazette’s 8 goals have come away from home this season and oddly enough he found the back of the net in his last visit to Wolves.

NOTE: Lacazette did pick up a bit of a knock towards the end of the game against Manchester United. So watch out for what Arteta has to say in his pre match before picking Lacazette.

Harvey Barnes vs Fulham(A), TSB: 7.2%

Barnes FPL GW22 Differential pick
Harvy Barnes can’t stop scoring

It is boring to pick the same player as a differential in back to back gameweeks. But come on you FPL managers, how could you possibly not pick Barnes in your teams? The Leicester man just as we tipped hauled against Leeds at the weekend, despite the Foxes losing the match. That goal meant that Barnes has now had only one blank in his last 7 matches(4 goals and 2 assists). A real mark of consistency!

In FPL GW22 Leicester City take on Fulham, a team that has considerably been outperforming defensively in the last few weeks. In fact, Fulham have an xGC of 9.9 in their last 5 matches, only Aston Villa and West Brom have a worse tally in that time. However, they have conceded only 6 goals in that time. It is about time that the charmed life that Fulham’s defense has been leading comes to a halt.
