FPL DGW24 Tips & Preview- Dilemmas Answered

1.  Assistant Manager Chip DGW24 Play

There is a great opportunity to play the assistant manager chip in Double Gameweek 24. Now that the chip is active, you need to choose a 3-gameweek period to use the chip to earn additional points. A key reminder is that you can’t use any other chips during this period and also that you can transfer your assistant manager during this period (accounting for budget requirements and the three assets from one team rule).

A double gameweek is always a great base for earning additional points from chips. Liverpool & Everton have a double gameweek this week and I believe using Moyes as your assistant manager for Double Gameweek 24 before transferring to Iraola for Gameweek 25 & 26 is a great play.

The largest amount of points earned from the assistant manager chip can be earned through the ‘table bonus’ feature of earning additional bonus points when drawing or defeating a team 5+ places higher than your team in the table.

The above strategy gives you Leicester (Home) & Liverpool (Home) for Moyes and Southampton (Away) and Wolves (Home) for Iraola.

The Liverpool fixture would be the one fixture where table bonus is possible and an in-form Everton in a derby with their new manager bounce is a great opportunity to earn extra points. The Merseyside derby has been a cagey affair in recent times and with this one being the last at the current Goodison Park stadium, expect Everton to give Liverpool a big push. This fixture being an away fixture is part of the reasoning for preferring the Assistant Manager chip rather than Triple Captaining Mohamed Salah. This fixture has had 2 goals or less in its last 5 occurrences and Liverpool havn’t beaten Everton at Goodison in the league in their last two attempts.

Even though the table bonus has the most points potential, you’ll want a balance between safer options and at most one or two table bonus fixtures as the likelihood of earning very few points from those underdog fixtures is much higher.

An in-form Everton & Bournemouth run of fixtures looks to be a great play and allows you to use your Wildcard, Bench Boost, Free Hit & Triple Captain in the remaining 15 gameweeks without concern of being blocked by your Assistant Manager chip.

2.  Best Liverpool Assets for DGW24

I still believe that Salah, TAA & Gakpo are the ideal triple-up for your Double Gameweek 24 lineup.

If you read my article last week for GW23, you will see a more extensive breakdown as to why each of these three assets are optimal choices. What I will do today is explain why certain assets are not the best choices.

Alisson & Konate rely on clean sheets for the majority of their points output. Two away fixtures against an in-form Bournemouth and a derby fixture at Goodison Park are both not ideal clean-sheet target fixtures. This is followed by a favourable fixture at home to Wolves before facing Manchester City & Newcastle. For this reason, the only defensive asset I would currently consider is Trent Alexander-Arnold due to his attacking output.

Virgil Van Dijk is not getting as many headed opportunities this season and if you are not opting to bring in Trent Alexander-Arnold, you may as well take the discount and choose Konate instead of Van Dijk.

Luis Diaz will see rotation during this period as Darwin will get minutes across the congested schedule. Cody Gakpo will also see rotation but his form from the left wing will see him score more starts and also return a greater amount of points due to his direct and strong attacking style.

Midweek UCL Game Squad Update: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Konate, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Salah and Diaz left out of PSV trip. Will remain on Merseyside ahead of Saturday’s league trip to Bournemouth.

3. Best Everton Assets for DGW24

There are very few Everton assets potentially worth transferring in. The top two choices are Jordan Pickford and David Moyes (Assistant Manager chip).

David Moyes has the new manager bounce form as well as a favorable Leicester (Home) fixture to start the double gameweek. As mentioned earlier in this article, the opportunity for bonus points against Liverpool is a rare occasion where there are merits for the underdog to perform better than their table position suggests. Also, form is temporary, and taking advantage of an in-form team at the right time can be the secret to chip usage and transfer strategies alike.

Jordan Pickford sits behind a resolute defence that has a favorable run of fixtures over the medium term (before your next likely wildcard timing). The double gameweek of two home fixtures is a great bonus and it could be ideal to transfer in the English shot-stopper if it fits into your transfer strategy and budget.

Mykolenko & Ndiaye are the other two I would consider from Everton for their double gameweek. Mykolenko is a budget enabler who is mainly in your team for clean sheet points but can also pop up with an attacking return once or twice a season.

Ndiaye is now on penalty duties with Calvert-Lewin out injured and has been a livewire in Everton’s lineup this season. Owners would hope to see Beto and Ndiaye playing off each other up top for Everton and aiming for attacking returns in the Leicester fixture mainly. Ndiaye could also expose Liverpool’s high-line defence with his pace and dribbling ability.

4. GW24 Key Fixture Analysis

Everton v Liverpool. A key fixture for the gameweek that has been discussed in part earlier in this week’s post.

Everton v Leicester. Everton’s first fixture of the Double Gameweek and also a home fixture. The results and the vibe of the team have been improved since Moyes has taken over. Leicester’s 2-1 win at Tottenham last weekend shouldn’t change your opinion of Leicester at all.

Tottenham have relegation level form currently and Leicester beating them is nothing to write home about. Expect a strong showing from the Toffees here and a good opportunity to use the Assistant Manager chip on Moyes.
