FPL GW8 Differential picks to consider ahead of Deadline | ALLABOUTFPL

This season has been to a rough start with a lot of FPL managers struggling to get going and GW7 proved to be a dull one as well with most of the popular picks keeping quite meaning the average score was a mere 53. Putting that behind us, one positive is that we have got still 31 GW’s to play for as we approach FPL GW8 ahead of another International break. Let us look at the top differential picks to consider ahead of the upcoming deadline. Getting in one or two of these differentials for GW8 could help you quickly climb up the rankings and get that green arrow.

As always, our differential article has five players with less than 10% ownership who have a high chance of returning for that particular GW and beyond. Check out our top differential options for FPL GW8 below!

FPL GW8 Differential picks

1. Hakim Ziyech vs Sheffield United (H) £8.0 Mil TSB: 5.0%

Hakim Ziyech FPL GW8 Differential pick
The magician is just getting started

After being injured in a pre season friendly against Brighton, Ziyech is finally back to full fitness starting and scoring two goals in the last two fixtures proving all the pre season hype around him after he was priced at a modest 8.0 Mil. The Morracan and Chelsea midfielder stole the show against Burnley with a goal and an assist taking home 14 points including three bonus.

Ziyech vs Burnley stats
Goal: 1
Assist: 1
Shots: 1
Shots on target: 1
Key passes: 1
Big Chances Created: 1
xA: 0.43
xG:0.15
Final third passes: 22 (17 successful)

Also the fact that Pulisic is struggling with fitness after missing out on another game against Burnley due to an injury during warmup, Ziyech seems to be the best Chelsea midfielder option to consider and is also the cheapest of them all. He is up against Sheffield united who have conceded 15 big chances(5th worst) and 100 shots on goal(4th worst) so far this season and look completely lost defensively having failed to keep a clean sheet so far this season.

2. Jarod Bowen vs Fulham (H) £6.3 Mil TSB: 2.2%

Jarod Bowen FPL GW8 Differential pick
Bowen could step up in the absence of Antonio

The spotlight has been on Westham for the right reasons having performed exceptionally well over the opening seven weeks of the season against tougher oppositions. West Ham had better xG than their opponents in four of their five games since playing in a 3-4-3 formation, scoring in every game while having more attempts at goal than the opponent in four out of their five games. Bowen and West ham now enjoy a good fixture swing with Fulham, Sheffield and Aston Villa up next for the hammers.

The onus is on bowen after Antonio is out injured for a while. The winger has had a decent season so far with three goals in seven games registering 33 points which is more than the likes of popular FPL assets including Auba, Havertz and Rashford. He’s up against a Fulham side who are defensively poor and his electric pace could cause trouble to the Fulham backline. Bowen could be a great FPL asset for the upcoming weeks.

3. Aaron Cresswell vs Fulham (H) £5.1 Mil TSB: 7.5%

Aaron Cresswell FPL GW8 Differential pick
Mr. Consistent

Another West Ham player it doesn’t happen often. But it’s hard to look beyond Cresswell as he has become one of the best performing defenders this season with two clean sheets, three assists scoring 32 points making him the 8th highest scoring FPL defender so far this season which is a great indicator that he’s a good FPL asset.

Cresswell in numbers amongst defenders:
Most successful crosses(15), key passes(13), fourth highest xA(1.19)
Second most crosses into the penalty area

Only three other defenders have more goal creating actions than Cresswell and he ranks in the top 10 for key passes (13) in the premier league so far this season. West Ham have a great run of fixtures with just two fixtures having a FDR of more than 3 in their next 12 weeks. Getting Cresswell could be a good long term decision as he’s even more nailed than the other two fullbacks Coufal and Masuaku.

4. Raheem Sterling vs Liverpool (H) £11.6 Mil TSB: 6.8%

Raz has been off to a slow start, is it time he implodes?

Raheem sterling has been off to a slow start this season with just two goals and one assist so far this season not the numbers that you wanted to see from a premium midfielder. But he has looked good majorly so far this season and has quite played OOP in a few games but that shouldn’t be the case anymore with Gabriel Jesus returning back sterling will be back to his preferred position.

The last time he played his former team sterling recorded one goal, two assist, 2 bonus in a monster 16 points haul. Liverpool don’t look solid defensively having conceded 15 goals (second most) & 15 big chances(5th worst) so far this season keeping just one clean sheet so far. This game screams goals and we all know how deadly Raz can be and the big haul is just around the corner. Also, Man City have a good fixture swing from GW10 and sterling could be a great option both mid term and long term.

5. Diogo Jota vs Man City (A) £6.3 Mil TSB: 3.4%

Diogo Jota FPL GW8
Man of the hour

Jota is the man of the moment having scored the winner for liverpool in their last two PL games. He was rewarded for the same with a start in the Champions league fixture in the place of Firmino against Atlanta and Jota scored an hatrick surely earning a place in the starting 11 against Man City.

Priced at 6.3 Mil, same as Phil Foden, Jota should become a very good FPL asset even though he might not start week in week out as he’s capable of returning even as a substitute.

Other Differential picks to consider for FPL GW8

Anthony Martial £8.7, TSB:3.6% is back from a three game suspension and is up against Everton. Martial will take the CF position and could be amongst the goals as Man Utd look to bounce back from a defeat to Arsenal. Daniel Castelo Podence £5.5, TSB:3.9% could be another good option having scored against Palace he’ll look to continue his goal scoring form against leicester who have kept just one CS in their last six games.
