Welcome back to another captaincy metrics blog, The popular FPL Gameweek 35 captain picks include Son, Palmer and Jackson. Since it is a double gameweek the trio are the popular choices, Isak and Bruno Fernandes are also decent shouts as they have good fixtures even though they play only once. Let’s see who amongst the five players tops the captaincy metrics this week, will it be Palmer or someone else?

FPL GW35 Captaincy Metrics
FPL GW35 Captaincy poll ~ Wisdom Of the Crowd
Palmer takes the top spot in the captaincy poll with a whopping 57% of the votes ahead of facing Aston Villa & Spurs in DGW35. Son who is up against Arsenal and Chelsea takes the 2nd spot in the captaincy poll with 17% of the votes, Isak who is in red hot form picks up the third spot in the poll this week ahead of facing Sheffield United at home. Jackson and Bruno Fernandes complete the top five of the captaincy metrics.

Underlying Numbers of the FPL Gameweek 35 Captain picks
Palmer is top of the table with an xG of 6.52 in the last six games, Palmer has also had 19 shots inside the box and 8 big chances. The Chelsea attacker also has created 20 chances in the last six games which is only behind Bruno Fernandes amongst the five players in comparison.
Isak is 2nd ahead of Bruno registering an xG of 5.12 in the last six games along with 8 big chances, and 17 goal attempts in the box.
Bruno Fernandes who has been in good form in the last few games is third with an xG of 3.64, he has also registered 12 shots inside the box, 22 chances created, and 5 big chances.
Jackson is only 4th with just one big chance in the last six games and an xG of 2.11.
Son is last with an xG of 1.66 in the last six games. The Palace attacker has created 11 chances and has registered 12 goal attempts in the box.

Underlying Numbers of the Candidate’s Teams
Chelsea have registered a xG of 13.96 during the period. They have had 65 shots inside the box and 22 big chances which is also the highest amongst the five teams in the table.
Newcastle are 3rd in the table with an xG of 11.46. The Magpies are also first for goal attempts in the box(70) in the last six games
Spurs are 4th in the table with an xG of 10.24. The North London team have also registered 57 shots inside the box and 15 big chances in the last six games.
Man United are 5th with an xG of 9.68 and have had 17 big chances in the last six games along with 57 goal attempts in the box.

Fixture Difficulty of the candidate team in FPL GW35
In the Third Phase of the Article, we look at the Fixture Difficulty of our 5 Candidates.
We will use DraftHound’s odds for a Team scoring at least one goal in the Gameweek and the Odds of Scoring more than 2.0 goals in the Gameweek as a whole.
Chelsea are top with a 96.25% odds of at least 1 goal in the double gameweek and a 48.39% odds of scoring 2+ goals this week.
Surprisingly Newcastle who only play once in GW35 vs Sheffield United are 3rd and have a 93.0% odds of at least 1 goal in the gameweek and a 60.0% odds of scoring 2+ goals this week.
Spurs are 4th in the table and have a 93.8% odds of at least 1 goal in the gameweek and a 37.22% odds of scoring 2+ goals this week. Spurs even though play twice their odds of scoring 2+ goals isn’t high as they play against Arsenal and Chelsea.
Man United are 5th in the table and have 89% odds of at least 1 goal in the gameweek and a 48% odds of scoring 2+ goals this week.

Projections Rank of our FPL Gameweek 35 Captain Picks
In the Fourth Phase of the article, I have used the Anytime Returns and Projected Points Tools available at Fantasy Football Hub. With the help of the Anytime Returns Tool, I have derived the Safety Rank, which helps in determining the Safest Captaincy Option of the week, while I have used the Projected Points Tool to determine the Explosion Rank, which helps in determining the Most Explosive Option of the week.
Palmer is top of the projection rank table with an anytime returns projection of 84% and a 11.8 points projection in FPL Double Gameweek 35.
Son takes the 2nd spot with an anytime returns projection of 82% and a 11.5 points projection ahead of facing Arsenal and Chelsea.
Jackson takes the 3rd spot with an anytime returns projection of 68% and a points projection of 10.5.
Isak takes the 4th spot with the Newcastle United forward having an anytime returns projection of 61% and a points projection of 6.4 and Bruno having an anytime returns projection of 54% and a points projection of 5.8

Conclusion – Final Rank from our FPL Gameweek 35 Captaincy metrics
In the Fifth and Final Phase of the article, I have aggregated the Ranks derived above to pull out the Cumulative Rank Factor (CRF). The Candidate having the lowest Cumulative Rank Factor is the most ideal Captaincy Option according to this metric.
Palmer comfortably takes the top spot with a cumulative rank factor(CRF) of only 4 which is the lowest CRF score possible. Jackson take the second spot with a CRF of 9. Isak takes the 3rd spot with a CRF of 14, Son is only 4th with a CRF of 15 and Bruno Fernandes is last with a CRF of 18.
