FPL GW8 Differential Picks(<10% TSB)
Alexander Isak vs Bournemouth(H), £7.0, TSB: 5.5%
Isak had an impressive start in his first 2 Gameweeks in Premier League against Liverpool and Palace. From 2 games, he has 3 big chance involvements with a Non-Penalty Expected Goal Involvement of 0.8 per game which looks good from a FPL point of view.
Last season in La Liga Isak had an npxG + xA of 0.49 per 90 and also averaged a healthy 1.35 Shots per 90, with 45.1% of his shots being on target. He’s capable of replicating similar numbers in the PL and with the good run of fixtures Newcastle have in the upcoming gameweeks, Isak could be a great Differential third forward in your teams especially on Wildcard.
The next four oppositions(Bournemouth, Fulham, Brentford) for Newcastle have kept a combined 4 Clean sheets from 18 games during the first six gameweeks! These 3 teams combined have conceded a whopping 36 goals so far at an average of 2.0 goals conceded per game.
Matchup Alert- Isak
Isak’s next three opponents Bournemouth, Fulham and Brentford are ranked 6th, 4th, 3rd for chances conceded from center this season.
Jarod Bowen vs Everton(A), £8.1, TSB: 3.0%
8.1 Million Midfielder who has 0 goals, 0 assists, 1 shot on target from 6 games this season. What’s he doing in here? Bowen has had a very poor start to the season so far. But it is to be noted that West Ham played City, Tottenham, Chelsea, Brighton in 4/6 games so far. Their fixtures take a good turn from GW8 onwards as they face- Everton, Wolves, Fulham, Southampton in the next 4 games.
This is where you can take punts and get ahead of the curve. Going by this season’s stats, it looks like a terrible move. But if you are planning to catch the upside early, investing in proven players like Bowen is not a bad idea. Bowen got 17 FPL assists last season which was the highest among all players. Bowen is likely to be on penalties as well as he took the penalty in the Conference League game last week when both Antonio and Rice were also on the pitch.
Matchup alert- Bowen
Everton have conceded 28 chances from their left flank(Highest among all teams) this season. This is where Bowen operates which makes him a solid Differential option ahead of GW8.

Leon Bailey vs Southampton(H), £4.7, TSB: 6.3%
Well, time for FPL Troll of the season to feature on our Differential blog. After being initially chosen in many GW1 drafts, he had disappointed with just 2 starts and 9 points from the first 2 GWs which saw his ownership and price(5.0 to 4.7) drop down. In GW5 and GW6 against Arsenal and City, he looked really good during the little time Villa had the ball. Bailey also got a goal during the 1-1 draw vs Manchester City to earn a point for Villa and more importantly Gerrard’s trust to start games.
Villa have good fixtures to get back their season on track and it is that stage of the season in FPL where you want to target fixtures swings and Villa have a good fixture swing.
Villa’s Next 4 opponents and their defensive rank-
Bailey’s next 4 opponents | Goals Conceded | Expected Goals Conceded | Big Chances conceded |
Southampton | 17th | 10th | 7th |
Leeds United | 17th | 11th | 15th |
Nottingham Forest | 18th | 20th | 16th |
Chelsea | 13th | 12th | 17th |

FPL GW8 Ultra Differential Picks(<1% TSB)
Richarlison vs Leicester City(H), £8.5, TSB: 0.8%
Richarlison has slowly become a key player for Spurs in both CL and PL. GW6 was his first start in the PL vs Fulham and he got an assist as Spurs won 2-1. In UCL MD1 richarlison bagged a brace as well indicating he’s in fine form.
The trio of Son – Kane and Richarlison have played little together, but in GW8 the trio started together and their numbers are pretty close. Considering Richarlison is in good form and thriving in confidence, he’ll definitely be a starter in GW8 with Son/Kulusevski fighting it out for the other spot. Leicester defence is without a clean sheet and have second most goals conceded so far this season with only Bournemouth doing worse. Richarlison could be the ideal one week punt in FPL GW8 especially for GW9 wildcarders(including me)

Vladimir Coufal vs Everton(A), £4.4, TSB: 0.8%
Another West Ham asset this week and it’s Coufal who has a good run of fixtures and is a nailed asset in the West Ham backline. At 4.4 Million he’s a really good enabler in the upcoming weeks. He has a decent attacking threat as well having made 28 crosses so far this season, third highest amongst defenders less than 5.0 Million, Everton have also conceded the most chances(28) down the left channel where Coufal and Bowen operate which makes it an interesting matchup for Coufal in GW8.
West Ham defense- Stat Attack
- Next 3 opponents for West Ham- Everton, Wolves, Fulham, and Southampton rank in the bottom half of the table for Expected Goals(xG) and Big Chances this season.
- West Ham have the 7th Best Non-Penalty Expected Goals Conceded this season despite facing City, Spurs and Chelsea already.
