All Premier League Teams Predicted GW8 Lineups
Arsenal
The enforced break may have affected Arsenal in a positive manner. Thomas Partey has been one of their more important players and the two week rest has meant he should be fit enough to start against Brentford. Besides that, it should be business as usual with arsenal.
Last week’s success rate: 10/11 (We predicted 10 starters correctly last week)
Arsenal GW8 Predicted formation:
- 4-3-3
Arsenal GW8 Predicted lineup:
Ramsdale
White – Saliba – Gabriel – Tierney
Xhaka – Partey – Odegaard
Saka – Jesus – Martinelli
Arsenal injury updates(16/09/22)
“It’s been an undergoing issue that he has had.” Mikel Arteta on Emile Smith Rowe suffering with an ongoing groin injury
“Updates will be tomorrow when we have the training session.” Mikel Arteta is unable to give clarity on which players will be available for this weekend
Arteta saying nothing on injuries (Zin/Partey): “Unfortunately the update will be tomorrow when we have the last training session.” Partey however had trained fully since 12th September.
Aston Villa
After chopping and changing the lineup for weeks, Stephen Gerrard finally stumbled upon a lineup that worked effectively. Douglas Luiz came in for Emi Buendia and Aston Villa were a far more cohesive outfit. As such, the same lineup should persist for the fixture against Southampton this week. Matty Cash being the only causality due to a hamstring injury and Young should take his place.
Last week’s success rate: 10/11 (We predicted 10 starters correctly last week)
Aston Villa GW8 Predicted Formation
- 4-3-1-2
Aston Villa GW8 Predicted Lineup:
Martinez
Young – Mings – Konsa – Digne
Kamara – McGinn – Luiz
Ramsey
Bailey – Watkins
Aston Villa injury updates(15/09/22)
Matty Cash is ruled out for the Southampton game.
Bournemouth
Bournemouth went into the Nottingham Forest contest unchanged from the side that drew 0-0 with Wolves. With another positive result, I can see the lineup largely remaining the same. The most likely change, if any, will be that of Jadon Anthony potentially rewarded with a start over Christie after coming on to score the winner.
Last week’s success rate: 11/11 (We predicted 11 starters correctly last week)
Bournemouth GW8 Predicted formation
- 4-3-3
Bournemouth GW8 Predicted lineup:
Neto
Smith – Mepham – Kelly – Zemura
Cook – Lerma – Anthony
Tavernier – Solanke – Billing
Bournemouth press conference update(16/09/22)
“Elsewhere, Junior Stanislas has trained well and has been on the grass for few days. It’s good to have him back and he has big quality.
“We’re in a similar place to the previous match. The game comes too soon for Joe Rothwell and Ben Pearson.”
Brentford
Almost everything went as planned for Brentford against Leeds as they blitzed their opponents 5-2. As such, I can see the same lineup persisting for Southampton. Wissa and Lewis Potter will probably continue to share game time but given the latter started in a 5-2 victory this week, I can see him staying in the side.
Last week’s success rate: 9/11 (We predicted 9 starters correctly last week)
Brentford GW8 Predicted formation:
- 4-3-3
Brentford GW8 Predicted lineup:
Raya
Hickey – Jansson – Mee – Henry
Janlet – Jensen
Bapitse
Mbeumo – Toney – Lewis Potter
Sergi Canos will be available for Brentford against Arsenal on Sunday. 25yo winger has not played yet this season due to a hamstring injury.
Christian Norgaard is still out for Brentford with an Achilles injury and it is “50/50” if he will be back after the international break. Ethan Pinnock is training every day and should be in contention for the PL game against Bournemouth on October 1.
Everton
The improved performance by Everton against Liverpool should mean that there aren’t too many changes for Arsenal. The only likely change I can envisage is that of Tom Davies potentially coming out for Gueye who came off the bench for his second debut for the club.
Last week’s success rate: 11/11 (We predicted 11 starters correctly last week)
Everton GW8 Predicted formation
- 4-2-3-1
Everton GW8 Predicted lineup
Begovic
Paterson – Tarkowski – Coady – Mykolenko
Onana – Iwobi – Gueye
Gray – Gordon
Maupay
Lampard confirms that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is “close” to a return whereas Doucoure is back from injury and available. Pickford, Mina, and Holgate are all out for GW8 and will be out after the international break.
Fulham
Of concern to Marco Silva’s men will be the injury sustained by Antonee Robinson mid-way through the first half. Robinson appeared to go over on his ankle and had to come off for Kevin Mbabu who is conventionally a right back. One of Fulham’s many deadline day signings, PSG left-back was one. If he is match fit, which wasn’t the case for Saturday hence Mbabu coming on, he could be in line for a start against Chelsea in Robinson’s absence.
Elsewhere, Dan James and Willian both came in on deadline day and both could find themselves starting.
Last week’s success rate: 11/11 (We predicted all 11 starters correctly last week)
Fulham GW8 Predicted formation:
- 4-2-3-1
Fulham GW8 Predicted lineup:
Leno
Tete -Tosin – Ream – Kurzawa,
Palhinha – H Reed
Willian – Andreas – Dan James
Mitrovic
Fulham PC/Injury Update(15/09/22)
Kurzawa is in line for his debut with Robinson is still struggling with his ankle injury which forced him off in GW6. Harry Wilson and Solomon are long-term absentees.
Leicester City
Despite the fact that the 5-2 scoreline against them doesn’t exactly reflect well on them, there were some positives to be had. Rogers opted to hand starts to both Pakstonn Daka and Kelechi Iheanacho in place of Dewsbury-Hall and Vardy. The increased mobility in strikers improved their attacking play significantly so we can expect Rogers to deploy the same formation against Aston Villa.
Defensively, Luke Thomas struggled for large parts of the game so Timothy Castagne, who was only a substitute for this game, should come back in.
Though he scored at the weekend, Iheanacho has never really gained Rodgers’s trust so I’d expect Vardy to come back in for him.
New signing Wout Faes should also come in, with Ndidi probably going into midfield
Last week’s success rate: 8/11 (We predicted 8 starters correctly last week)
Leicester City GW8 Predicted formation:
- 4-3-3
Leicester City GW8 Predicted lineup:
Ward
Castagne – Faes – Evans – Justin
Ndidi – Tielemans
Maddison – Daka – Barnes
Vardy
Leicester City PC/Injury Update(15/09/22)
Bertrand and Pereira are long term absentees with mild concerns over Praet who is although expected to train on Friday ahead of the Spurs game.
Manchester City
As predicting City goes, this week shouldn’t be too difficult. Providing everybody is fit, we can expect the strongest 11 to start against Wolves. The only fitness concern is surrounding Walker. If he isn’t passed fit, Gomez could deputize.
Last week’s success rate: 11/11 (We predicted all 11 starters correctly last week)
Manchester City GW8 Predicted formation
- 4-2-3-1
Manchester City GW8 Predicted lineup:
Ederson
Walker – Dias -Stones – Cancelo
Rodri – Gundogan,
B Silva – De Bruyne – Foden
Haaland
Man City PC/Injury Update(16/09/22)
Laporte still not ready to face Wolves after returning to full train this week. Walker update was not clear from Pep with him adding he doesn’t know if he’s available for GW8.
Newcastle United
Despite being close to full fitness, neither Guimaraes nor Saint Maximin were deemed ready to start so Longstaff and Fraser deputized once more. Both should be back for Bournemouth however and should go straight back in.
Last week’s success rate: 8/11 (We predicted 8 starters correctly last week)
Newcastle United GW8 Predicted formation:
- 4-3-3
Newcastle United GW8 Predicted lineup:
Pope
Trippier – Botman – Schar – Burn
Willock – Bruno Guimares – Joelinton
Almiron – Isak – Fraser
Newcastle PC/Injury Update(16/09/22)
Eddie Howe on Bruno, Saint-Maximin and Wilson: “Everyone has improved but I’ll leave my team-news until the time we get it. It’s been a slightly difficult period for us but hopefully we’re coming out of that. They’re big players for us and we need them back quickly.”
Eddie Howe on Jonjo Shelvey: “Jonjo is making good progress. He’s out on the grass running and he’s looking good. He’s in a really good physical condition and he’s looking after himself so hopefully it wont be too long.”
Nottingham Forest
Of their many issues in the second half against Bournemouth, the biggest for Forest was their midfield being overrun so we can expect a change in that regard. Steve Cooper started with Yates and Kouyate. Providing Mangala is still out, Lewis O’brien who was omitted should come back in.
There may also be a number of other changes but given the plethora of options along with the fact that we have seen little to nothing of most of the new signings, it’s almost impossible to predict who those changes are likely to be.
Last week’s success rate: 8/11 (We predicted 8 starters correctly last week)
Nottingham Forest GW8 Predicted formation:
- 3-4-3
Nottingham Forest GW8 Predicted lineup
Henderson
Worrall – Cook – McKenna
Williams – O’Brien – Yates – Lodi
Awoniyi – Johnson – Gibbs White
Nottingham Forest PC/Injury Update(15/09/22)
Mangala has had a setback in his recovery from his hamstring injury. Niakathe and Richards are long-term injury absentees and Aurier is still awaiting his visa.
Southampton
Ralph HassenHuttl adopted a 4231 for the Wolves fixture, going away from his favoured 4-2-2-2 approach. Though they weren’t able to score against Wolves, it wasn’t for a lack of trying on Southampton’s part. They were particularly bright when Stuart Armstrong came on in the second half which suggests to me that he may be in line for a start against Aston Villa with Elyounoussi possibly missing out.
Last week’s success rate: 11/11 (We predicted all 11 starters correctly last week)
Southampton GW8 Predicted formation
- 4-2-3-1
Southampton GW8 Predicted lineup:
Bazunu
Walker-Peters – Bella-Kotchap – Salisu – Perraud
Diallo – Ward Prowse
Aribo – S Armstrong – A Armstrong
Adams
Southampton PC/Injury Update(15/09/22)
Tino Livramento and Lavia are the only long-term absentees with the rest of the squad available for selection.
Tottenham
Tottenham’s team to face Leicester in GW8 should be broadly the same as that which lost in Lisbon in the Champion’s League. The most likely change I can see is that of Kulusevski potentially replacing Richarlison in the starting 11.
It’s a close call regarding Perisic/Sessegnon, watch out for Paul O Keefe’s predicted lineup as he’s very reliable with the Spurs predicted lineup. (Link to his Twitter)
Last week’s success rate: 8/11 (We predicted 8 starters correctly last week)
Spurs GW8 Predicted formation:
- 3-4-3
Spurs GW8 Predicted lineup:
Lloris
Romero – Dier – Lenglet
Emerson – Bentancur -Hojbjerg – Perisic
Kulusevski – Kane – Son
Spurs PC/Injury Update(16/09/22)
“There are no players that are undroppable. This has to be very clear. Because if I tell this, it’s only to try to help my players and to try to avoid injuries, to try to have players at the top of their form.” Antonio Conte on being asked if Son Heung-min could be dropped.
West Ham
David Moyes’s reluctance to rotate, along with the fact that his team were very unlucky not to come away with anything from the Chelsea game could mean that West Ham go in unchanged against Everton in GW8.
Bowen has been a shadow of the player he was last season and on merit should probably be out of the side however Moyes seems reticent to drop him so we can expect the same team to play against Newcastle.
Last week’s success rate: 10/11 (We predicted starters correctly last week)
West Ham GW8 Predicted Formation
- 4-3-3
West Ham GW8 Predicted lineup:
Fabianski
Coufal – Kehrer – Zouma – Emerson
Rice – Soucek – Paqueta
Bowen – Antonio – Fornals
West Ham PC/Injury Update(16/09/22)
No fresh injury concerns for Moyes with Dawson, Cresswell, and Soucek all returning. Johnson and Aguerd are long-term injury absentees.
Wolves
Wolves have had an interesting couple of weeks, with the ognoing saga of whether they would sign Diego Costa. After plenty of twists and turns, his signing was finally confirmed. With Wolves’s goal scoring issues, he should go straight in.
After a string of very sub par performances, Raul Jimenez was dropped and that should continue to be the case. Podence also came in for Guedes who I’d expect to go back in for the Liverpool match.
Rayan AitNouri also came in for Jonny, to continue Bruno Lage’s insistence of rotating full backs. Its almost impossible to say who drops out this week with any conviction but I’m going to hazard a guess at it being Semedo.
Last week’s success rate: 8/11 (We predicted 8 starters correctly last week)
Wolves GW8 Predicted formation:
- 4-3-3
Wolves GW8 Predicted lineup:
Sa
Jonny – Kilman – Collins – AitNouri
Neves – Nunes – Moutinho
Guedes – Diego Costa – Neto
Wolves PC/Injury Update(16/09/22)
Jimenez will not feature due to fatigue, Lage did not confirm if Costa will play against Man City and new striker Kalajdzic is out for around 6 months.
As we said when predicting the GW6 lineups, there will definitely be some incorrect calls in here, however, we’ll always do our best job with the news we have. Article penned by @FPLHindsight(Drop him a follow on Twitter)
