Stats from West Ham vs Wolves

Single-game for this Sunday review piece, West Ham vs Wolves in a game that non-FHers had a much greater representation than Free Hitters. It was an outcome that Free Hitters would be happier with given the lack of a Wolves’ clean sheet, Jimenez benching, and no Bowen involvement. Here’s the stat lowdown from the game.

Jimenez, a highly owned Wolves asset in view of their fixtures, DGWs and game in blank GW30, was benched this game likely to give the Mexican a rest. Fabio Silva (5.6m, FWD) started upfront and had 4 shots, 3 from inside the box including 1 big chance for an xG of 0.52.

Ruben Neves (5.3m, MID) had 1 shot, taken from outside the box and created 1 chance for an xGI of 0.20.

West Ham were on the front foot and created more across the game.

Soucek (5.7m, MID) had 2 shots, 1 from inside the box which was a big chance and created 2 chances for a game-high xGI of 0.87 and xG of 0.73.

Antonio (7.6m, FWD) continued to put up some fairly decent numbers despite not matching his goal threat from his early season performances. He had 2 shots from inside the box and created 4 chances including 1 big chance for a healthy xGI of 0.84 – an xA of 0.73 being its major constituent.

Jarrod Bowen (7.1m, MID) sold by a lot of FH and non-FHers alike, blanked despite having 1 shot from inside the box, a big chance, and created 1 chance for an xGI of 0.37.

Pablo Fornals (6.0, MID) had 1 shot from outside the box and created 2 chances including 1 big chance for an xA of 0.33.

Wolves defense has been solid this season but admittedly conceding an xG of 1.69 in this game won’t be very encouraging for owners. Nonetheless, they’re a great option for DGW28 and beyond. DGW28 has no real standout captains as we stand and the benching of Jimenez has thrown enough doubt to personally put me off captaining him. No individual centre back from Wolves nor their defense overall put up encouraging numbers these past 2 gameweeks which will lower confidence in Saiss for a good looking double.

I’ll personally have an eye on a Chelsea defender if their fixture against Norwich gets confirmed, making that part of a double alongside Burnley, as captain.
