The premier league winter transfer window is over and there have been a number of new signings in the league. In today’s article, we look at some of the new signings you can bring in for your fpl team. (All stats taken from Fbref)

New Signings FPL – Defenders
Kieran Trippier(5.0) – Newcastle
The first signing in the new era, Tripper joins Newcastle after a successful season with Atletico Madrid. The 31-year old did not only win the league with Atletico Madrid but also featured in the La Liga team of the season. He had six assists in 28 games in the league for Atletico.
Having played for Spurs before, the veteran knows a thing or two about playing in the premier league. In fact, he has been quite a point-racker back in the day. In the 17/18 season, he collected 113 points, which he bettered next season by getting 118.
He has already played 2 games for the Magpies and has racked up 9 points already. Even though he has not been his best for Newcastle till now, he did show glimpses of creativity in the game against Watford. He had 3 shot-creating actions with an xA of 0.1, he also had 8 progressive passes.
Valued at 5 million, with an ownership of 0.6%, Trippier can a great differential going forward, especially now that they have Chris Wood to finish his crosses.
Matt Targett(4.7) – Newcastle
With the signing of Lucas Digne, English full-back Matt Targett was offloaded on loan to Newcastle United. Matt Targett should go straight into the starting eleven of the Magpies and priced at just 4.7 million, he can offer good value going ahead.
In his last three premier league appearances, Targett has scored 11 points. The full-back can be a menace on the left-hand side if he is able to link up well with Allan Saint-Maximin.
The 26-year-old has some interesting underlying numbers. For Villa this season, he averaged 1.4 key passes, 4.41 passes into the final third 5.67 progressive passes and 2.03 shot-creating actions per 90. With the help of Chris Wood, he might be able to rack up a few assists this season.

New Signings FPL – Midfielders
Dejan Kulusevski (6.0) – Spurs
Dejan Kulusevksi was signed by Spurs on an 18-month long loan with a buy option on deadline day. The 21-year-old is an unorthodox winger, who uses his strength and height to protect the ball when going forward.
Kulusevski is an especially interesting prospect because not only can he play on the wing, but he can also partner Harry Kane upfront. While his time at Juventus wasn’t that great, he did show parts of brilliance while at the Bianconeri.
He averaged 6.68 touches in the penalty box in the 772 minutes that he played for Juventus this season, which is more than 92% of wingers in Europe.
Priced at a mere 6 million, even if he does not play up front, Kulusevksi can be an absolute bargain going forward if he is able to nail a place in the starting eleven.

Christian Eriksen(5.5) – Brentford
The return of the Danish magician has excited premier league fans all over the world. While there is some uncertainty over the fitness of Eriksen, he is still an exciting prospect, especially since he is priced at only 5.5 million.
While his last season at Inter wasn’t the best as he struggled to nail a starting position, having previously played in the premier league he is used to the league. In his last three full seasons in the league, he scored 161(8G + 12A), 199(11G+10A) and 218(8G + 20A).
His presence can benefit both Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo. We can see them using the space and the passes he provides to their advantage. We could also see Pontus Jansson benefit from his set-pieces.

Luis Diaz(8.0) – Liverpool
While 8 million seems a bit steep for Luis Diaz, considering the fact his position in the starting eleven isn’t guaranteed, he is still a very exciting player.
In 17 games in the league for Porto this season, the Colombian has contributed 17 goals. He scored 13 of them, overperforming his xG of 8.7 by a large margin.
He is a very clinical player with half of his shots on target resulting in a goal.
If he is able to nail a starting position, Luis Diaz can be a force to reckoned with.
Honourable mentions
- Dele Alli
- Van De Beek

New Signings FPL – Forwards
Chris Wood(6.7) – Newcastle
The third Newcastle signing on this list is the 6″3 forward. The Kiwi international has a lot of potential to score goals at Newcastle with the creative forces of Ryan Fraser, Jonjo Shelvy, Kieran Trippier, Matt Targett and Alan Saint-Maximin available to him.
While has scored only 3 goals till now the season, it is not a sign to worry. Last season also the former Burnley forward’s six goals came after Gameweek 23.
A strong second half to the season is very much possible for Chris Wood.
Wout Weghorst(6.5)- Burnley
Sean Dyche was able to sign Wout Weghorst for a fee of 15 million pounds. The 6 foot 6 inches forward suits Burnley’s style of play and can probably be the best transfer from an FPL perspective.
The 29-year-old in his 118 appearances for Wolfsburg has scored 59 goals and given 19 assists. Last season he scored 28 goals and gave 8 assists.
While his numbers in isolation are good, they look even better even compared to Chris Wood.
Chris Wood vs Wout Weghorst
- Shots per 90 – 2.46 vs 2.52
- xA- 0.05 vs 0.12
- npxG – 0.36 vs 0.44
- SCA – 1.55 vs 2.42
With Burnley having four games still to be rescheduled, the 29-year-old is a very interesting choice and more since he is priced at only 6.5 million.
These are all the new signings that can make a difference in your FPL squad. Do let us know your favourite one!
