This article will cover the Double Digit returns metrics for FPL GW8 and beyond.
FAQs about the article:
- What is a double-digit return?
When an FPL asset scores 10+ points in a GW. But for more results, I will be tracking a score of 9+ as double digits.
- How will this article help me?
Will be breaking down GW fixtures to analyze who has the most chance of scoring double-digit returns. - The metric is inspired from FPL Blackbox by tracking double digit hauls so far this season.
Before going further, Do vote in this week’s FPL GW8 allaboutfpl captaincy poll. The same will be available in the captaincy analysis and metrics blog written by@AK_FPL1. To everyone’s surprise, we see Arsenal(18) has the best fixtures in terms of Double-Digit Returns potential for the next 4 GW followed by Southampton(17).
Chelsea (16) and Man City (16) round up the top 5 followed by Brentford (14) and Brighton (14).
The above table will provide only half data projecting which team has good fixtures but doesn’t mention which position to target against a specific team.
I will be dissecting the double-digit returns conceded further by position to have a better understanding of which FPL player to target.

Here we see how the narrative changes when we see fixtures with a focus on only forward returns.
Brighton (5) tops the chart which makes MAUPAY 6.5m a good option in WC teams even if for 1 GW alone.
In second, we have Brentford, Chelsea, Leeds, Newcastle, and Southampton (4).
Lukaku 11.7m is an automatic pick on WC, but whom do we accompany with him for the remaining 2 slots?
Contenders to Consider
Budget Picks
Toney 6.3m – Seeing Brentford high on the table and team attack in first 7 GW. He should be a default pick for one spot.
Adam Armstrong 6m – Southampton are another team with great upcoming fixtures and Armstrong can be a nice differential pick in WC if you don’t favor Toney.
Mid-Price Picks
The more popular choice of Antonio and Jimenez doesn’t have an opponent who conceded Double-Digit previously. This doesn’t mean they can’t do it, we all know their capability.
But from the table above Newcastle Talisman returning from injury C Wilson 7.3m might be a great candidate for double-digit returns over the next 4 GW before jumping ship back to Antonio.
Bamford 7.8m – Leeds also goes into a great run from GW10. So planning a switch from Wilson to Bamford shouldn’t be ruled out.
Premium Picks
Aubameyang 9.9m – From the table Arsenal’s next 2 fixtures look good for double-digit returns. With low ownership of 2.3% at the time of writing, he could be a great differential for WCs to punt on and ship out if the plan doesn’t work.
Conclusion on Forwards:
My go-to picks in the forward spot on WC will be Lukaku and Toney fixed and depending on budget/preference select one among Armstrong, Wilson, or Aubameyang.
Midfield Double-Digit Returns Potential:
MID | |||||
Team | GW8 | GW9 | GW10 | GW11 | Total |
Southampton | 2 | 2 | 0 | 4 | 8 |
Arsenal | 1 | 4 | 1 | 1 | 7 |
Brighton | 2 | 2 | 0 | 3 | 7 |
Brentford | 1 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 6 |
Chelsea | 1 | 2 | 1 | 2 | 6 |
Leicester | 1 | 1 | 3 | 1 | 6 |
Everton | 0 | 1 | 1 | 3 | 5 |
Leeds Utd | 1 | 0 | 2 | 1 | 4 |
Man City | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 4 |
Man Utd | 1 | 1 | 0 | 2 | 4 |
Newcastle | 3 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 4 |
West Ham | 0 | 3 | 0 | 1 | 4 |
Crystal Palace | 0 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 3 |
Norwich | 0 | 0 | 2 | 1 | 3 |
Tottenham | 1 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 3 |
Wolves | 0 | 1 | 2 | 0 | 3 |
Burnley | 0 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 2 |
Liverpool | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 2 |
Aston Villa | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 1 |
Watford | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 |
When we move on to midfielders, we see Southampton (8) top the table followed by Arsenal (7) and Brighton (7). Brentford, Chelsea, and Leicester (6) round up top 5
Let the data suggest anything, we all going to have SALAH on our WC regardless (It’s a no brainer)
James Ward Prowse’s suspension makes things difficult for Southampton assets. S Armstrong is the only viable midfield option in my opinion for double-digit returns.
Arsenal midfielders can have a field day in the coming GW. I would recommend going with at least one of Saka 6.3m or Smith Rowe 5.4m.
Saka would be my first choice if you have the budget. He is more assured to start and play full 90, whereas Smith Rowe is often the one substituted. Without any other European commitments, Arsenal should be fresh.
Trossard 6.4m could be an interesting differential to go with only 1.3% ownership. He is the most likely player from Brighton to score or assist which increases his chances of double-digit returns. NOR(a) GW8 and NEW(H) GW11 are great fixtures. The only problem is MCI and LIV in GW9 and 10.
Brentford Mbeumo 5.5m is playing up top with Toney. If you are not interested in owning Toney, Mbeumo is the perfect player to cover great Brentford fixtures from GW9. If you fancy a double-up of Toney and Mbeumo could be great as well.
Investment in Chelsea mid other than Mount 7.4m doesn’t look promising due to rotation. And with Lukaku taking one Chelsea spot on our WC, we would rather want a double-up in defense.
Conclusion on Midfielders:
Salah and Raphinha are 2 midfielders all managers are planning to have on WC. With Son and City Mid also high on one spot
For the remaining spot, I would recommend 1 Arsenal mid and Mbeumo/Trossard.

Double Man City defender or Double Chelsea Defender?
This question is something going on in the community. If only 1 team can be selected then from the table above we see Man City (8) is the best for double-digit returns potential. Going with both Dias 6.1m and Cancelo 6.2m should be the strategy for WC managers.
Arsenal (7) continues to provide good results for double-digit returns potential. Tierney 4.9m is the best asset to own from Arsenal followed by B White 4.4m if budget is a constrain.
Chelsea (6) aren’t far behind and one of the top teams to target on WC by FPL managers. Azpilicueta 6.1m and Rudiger 5.8m looks like the safest bet. Alonso 6m and Chilwell 5.6m are more punt picks who are rotation risk.
Livramento or Duffy?
Southampton has better potential for double-digit returns when compared to Brighton according to the table above.
Conclusion on Defenders:
Double Man City defense is a must in my opinion. Most will favor double Chelsea defense along with that, but I would recommend using one spot for Arsenal defender.
NOTE: All players suggested are based on the metrics and no way telling those are the only options
Here is how my current WC team looks (Subjected to change)
