If your Matchday 1 score isn’t soaring high in the skies, then trust me, you are not alone! Despite the below par returns of popular assets, most of us got good returns from our Captains and CR7 is yet to play. With less than 48 hours to the Euro Fantasy Matchday 2 deadline, we at ALLAOUTFPL are back with the best captaincy options. But before we start with picks, here’s a quick recap of how Captaincy works in EURO FANTASY FOOTBALL (EFF)
You can change your captain within the same Matchday as many times as there are days in the Matchday
For instance, MD2 is spread across 4 days (see below). Hence, you have the liberty to switch captaincy 4 times, once every gameday. And we are going to pick an option from each gameday for you!
Off to the captaincy picks…
Euro 2020 Matchday 2 Captaincy Analysis
Gameday 1 Fixture & Captaincy Picks
Ciro Immobile (ITA-10m) playing against Switzerland
Being one of the standout fixtures of gameday 1, there’s no surprise to see an Italian name starting the list.
The Azzurri’s display against Turkey showed their form is not limited to qualifiers and they are here to go deep into the tournament. In that direction, Mancini would want to go with intent against SUI, wrap up the group and think about giving his best players some rest before the knock-outs
Taking about the best players, there were quite a few scintillating performances from the camp. Here are the top 3 fantasy point scorers
– Ciro Immobile (10m) – 9 points
– Spinazzola (5.5m) – 9 points
– Insigne (8.5m) – 8 points
Having dismantled a strong Turkey defense, I expect more of the same from the Italians and specifically from Immobile. His presence in and near the 6 yards box was the key for his 1st goal of the tournament, and that’s a characteristic I like a lot about strikers in Fantasy football.
Italy when counter-attacking, do it from the flanks with Ciro as the central pivot spreading the balls. With both goal threats and assist potential aplenty, Ciro could produce a back to back haul!
Insigne has a great chance to haul as well, though I think he may once again be the second best to Immobile.
If you can’t get Immobile in your squad, stick to captaining Insigne or any Italian asset you may have in your team

Gameday 2 Fixture & Captaincy Picks
Romelu Lukaku (BEL-11m) playing against Denmark
If somehow, the Italians fail to shine OR you decide to “twist” your captaincy, there’s another team and player that started with flying colors in Matchday 1 – Belgium and of course, Romelu Lukaku
Lukaku scored a brace against struggling Russia, who did not have a good day at the office. While Belgium only created 3 big chances, Lukaku is not the one to need many anyways.
Taking about big chances, Belgium will be expecting to welcome their mid-field maestro Kevin De Bruyne into the starting line-up. He could take it upon himself to improve the number of chances Lukaku is served, benefiting the latter enormously.
In doing so, De Bruyne might himself turn into a great captaincy option. If you wanna go maverick, here’s your chance to catch up some lost ground

Gameday 3 Fixture & Captaincy Picks
Harry Kane (ENG-11.5m) playing against Scotland
Probably not the best day for a standout captain!
However, if you are still not satisfied with your captain returns and itching for France to take on Hungary, why not try your luck with gameday 3 before moving on. You never know what “Kane” happen
Of the 3 fixtures, ENG vs SCO looks to be the tastiest. Having conceded 2 goals and 7 shots on target, Scotland are not in the best of moods coming to Wembley.
Kane had a quiet day against Croatia where he was mostly a decoy to engage the central defenders. However, come the Scottish fixture, Kane may be luckier. Plus, he is guaranteed to start!
One for the mavericks – Patrik Schick (vs CRO). If the name does not ring a bell or you are wondering why is he mentioned, you might wanna catch a match highlight between Scotland and Czech Republic.
(you are welcome!)

Gameday 4 Fixture & Captaincy Picks
The French Defense Attack playing against Hungary
The fixture we have been waiting for!
It’s a no brainer that this is the fixture of Matchday 2, France vs Hungary, one of the best teams in the world vs Hungary, the EURO favorites vs Hungary, running out of superlatives to write vs Hungary!
If I did not make myself clear, France are facing Hungary, who, with no disrespect, are some distance behind them. It would be a surprise to see a result different to what we expect it to be on papers. Which implies, there will be goals (maybe a lots of them). The question then really is, WHO? rather than WHY? Do I dare pick one? Unfortunately, I will have to…
Griezmann (11m)
Well, don’t act surprised, it was there in front of you this whole time, right?
Definitely not the standout option of the three, though Griezmann for me edges the other two just slightly
If we look at the two recent (friendly) matches France played for EURO preparations, they went with 4-3-1-2 with Griezmann playing the #10 role. Hungary will most likely play a low block defensive football for most of the game. This tactic may work in favor of whoever plays in that role (#10) with long shots and ricochets from defenders in the box.
Also, Griezmann’s form with national team has been slightly better to that of both Mbappe and Benzema in the recent years.
Though, how so ever I try to sell it, at the end of the day it is role of a dice between three great options from the same team. Their game against Germany and Hungary’s game against Portugal might shed a differentiating light!
