And just like that, we’ve reached the end. Gameweek 38 — the final chapter in a season that spanned ten intense months of planning, strategizing, tinkering, heartbreaks, and euphoric green arrows. From pre-season drafts to last-minute deadline scrambles, it’s all coming to a close in a matter of days. What follows is the familiar void — three quiet months with no captaincy dilemmas, no price rises at midnight, and no 3 PM kick-off surprises.
This Gameweek isn’t just the end of a season; it also marks the farewell of some familiar FPL legends. We bid adieu to icons like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kevin De Bruyne — not necessarily from the Premier League, but from our FPL templates as age, injuries, and tactical shifts change their roles. As always, the cycle continues. With Leicester, Ipswich, and Southampton making way, three new teams — Leeds, Burnley, and either Sunderland or Sheffield United — will rise from the Championship, bringing fresh assets, new bandwagons, and unexpected heroes to discover.
So here we are, for one last hurrah. One final roll of the dice. Let’s soak in the chaos, chase that mini-league glory, or just enjoy the ride for what it is — the beautiful madness that is Fantasy Premier League. Let’s plan one last time — for the thrill, the community, and the sheer joy of playing this game.
So, let’s start with our BUY-HOLD-SELL article for this GW, sponsored by …. Well, nobody. We are poor, but you can help here if you want 😊

FPL Gameweek 38 Transfer Tips: Players to BUY
Jarrod Bowen (£7.9m) – MID, West Ham – 14.9% TSB

There are green arrows, and then there are gift-wrapped green arrows — and Jarrod Bowen looks like one in GW38. No midfielder has scored more FPL points or goals since GW26, and he ranks second for both goal involvements and shots on target. Simply put, he’s ending the season on a high and showing no signs of slowing down.

Now pair that form with the dream fixture: a home game against an already-relegated Ipswich side that’s bleeding defensive metrics. Among all Premier League teams, Ipswich rank bottom three (or worse) for virtually every key stat — from expected goals conceded to big chances allowed and clean sheets. This is not just a good fixture — this screams haul potential.
Bowen should be the first name on your team sheet. He’s in form, has the motivation, and faces a defence that’s leaking goals for fun. The perfect FPL storm.
Arsenal Armada
Martin Ødegaard (£8.2m) – MID, Arsenal – 5.4% TSB
Leandro Trossard (£6.7m) – MID, Arsenal – 3.9% TSB

If Bowen is a battering ram, the Arsenal duo are brushstrokes on a canvas. Ødegaard and Trossard have been quietly painting masterpieces over the past few Gameweeks — and the underlying numbers are a work of art.
Since GW33, Ødegaard leads all midfielders for key passes and assists, and ranks third for both BPS and goal involvements.
His creative precision has been matched stride for stride by Trossard, who in the same stretch ranks second for bonus points, third for BPS, and fifth for both goal involvements and FPL points. Against relegated teams, Trossard has averaged a staggering 8.2 points per match.
Now they face Southampton — statistically the worst defence in the league, sitting rock bottom across all the major defensive metrics. If Arsenal shows up, this could be a goal-fest — and the Arsenal midfielders are poised to be at the heart of it.
But here’s the catch: Arsenal have almost secured second place, and with nothing left to play for, rotation looms large. Ødegaard and Trossard are tempting but not nailed. They’d be top picks if guaranteed minutes — so wait for team leaks before punting on the Arsenal Armada.

Chris Wood (£7.2m) – FWD, Nott’m Forest – 31.6% TSB

Chris Wood is currently the most sold unflagged player going into the final Gameweek — but this could be a classic case of recency bias. Forest still has a Champions League spot to fight for, and Wood is all but guaranteed to lead the line in Awoniyi’s absence.
Let’s not forget what happened the last time he faced Chelsea — an 8-point return with a goal to his name. The Blues will have their focus distracted by their upcoming Europa Conference League final just three days later. If you’re holding Wood, you’re holding a player with motivation, minutes, and a favourable context. Stay patient.
Mohamed Salah (£13.6m) – MID, Liverpool – 66.5% TSB

Another FPL legend being discarded en masse this week is Mo Salah — the most sold midfielder ahead of GW38. But be careful before joining the crowd. Liverpool host Crystal Palace at Anfield, and Salah — despite a low recent output — is still generating elite underlying attacking numbers.
GW30 onwards | Big Chances | xGI | FPL Points |
Mbeumo | 4 | 5.2 | 49 |
Eze | 5 | 5.2 | 59 |
M.Salah | 9 | 4.9 | 28 |
Barnes | 6 | 4.7 | 55 |
Luis Díaz | 6 | 4.6 | 43 |
De Bruyne | 5 | 4.4 | 37 |
J.Murphy | 2 | 4.3 | 56 |
Since GW30, Salah leads all midfielders in Big Chances (9) and ranks third for expected goal involvement (4.9), yet he’s scored just 28 points — a glaring case of bad luck, not decline. Compare that to the likes of Eze, Mbeumo, and even Barnes, and the narrative begins to shift. The underlying stats say one thing: Salah’s due.
Write him off at your own risk — he may yet deliver a trademark parting gift in the last home match in front of a packed Anfield crowd.

Arsenal Avengers
William Saliba (£6.5m) – DEF, Arsenal – 29.5% TSB
Jurriën Timber (£5.6m) – DEF, Arsenal – 5.1% TSB

Arsenal fans may still be dreaming of what could’ve been, but in FPL, it’s time to face facts: Saliba and Timber are confirmed absentees for the final Gameweek. Arteta has ruled both out — Saliba with a hamstring issue picked up against Newcastle, and Timber after undergoing ankle surgery.
Saliba, in particular, remains a top-two owned defender in the game, featuring in nearly 30% of all teams — and over 43% among the top 10k. Timber, though less widely owned, still occupies valuable bench space in over 5% of squads.
With no hope of a miraculous return, these red flags must be addressed. Even if you’re planning to roll the dice on a differential, don’t let deadweight defenders anchor you in GW38.
Antonee Robinson (£4.7m) – DEF, Fulham – 15.7% TSB

It’s the end of the road for Robinson — and it’s been coming for a while. With just one return since GW25, he’s already been on thin ice. Add to that a rotation risk (just 2 starts in the last 4, alternating games), and the warning signs are flashing red.
Fulham now face Manchester City, who are unbeaten since GW29 and have won 5 of their last 6. With City still fighting to lock in a top-four finish, expect a full-strength, focused XI — the worst kind of opponent for a defensively shaky and rotation-prone asset like Robinson.
There are better defenders — and better fixtures — waiting for your final transfer. Offload.
