Hello FPL managers! Welcome to our FPL Midfield Watch. In this article, we’ll dive into the underlying stats of our top five FPL midfield maestros/innate dribblers who are likely to explode into form within the next four gameweeks.
Our focus for this post is from Gameweeks 21-24; we’ll be analyzing data from recent matches and sharing insights on the players likely to deliver big FPL points. Let’s get into it!
Note: We have left out very obvious midfielders like Mohamed Salah and Cole Palmer in this blog as they are obvious picks and our focus is on lesser-owned FPL midfielders who could be promising differentials.

Top FPL Midfielders To Consider from Gameweeks 21-24
Just to establish a few metrics used for this piece, we will be measuring FPL assets with the best fixtures against form, non-expected penalty goals/expected assists, and shots on target along with necessary data are from FFHUB(Subscribe with 30% off).
Semi-Premium Midfielders
Bruno Fernandes (£8.3m) – Man United (TSB, 8.9% ownership)
Despite a mixed bag of performances from Man United, one player that has stood out for FPL returns is Bruno Fernandes. Fernandes presently leads the Red Devils FPL rankings with 88 points, contributing 11 attacking returns thus far.
The midfield maestro’s recent performance in Gameweek 20 against league leaders Liverpool, where he created four chances, set up an assist for the opening goal, and finished with a seven-point total, highlighted his role as the key creator for the Red Devils.
Here are some underlying numbers from Bruno Fernandes this season:
- Contributed 0.36 non-penalty expected goals per 90 minutes.
- Averaging 0.34 expected assists per 90 minutes.
- Created 43 chances (28 from open play) for Man United.
- Involved in 7.76 progressive passes per 90 minutes and
- Had 50 touches in the opposition box.
The 30-year-old Portuguese might not have displayed a lot of consistency; however, he remains one of United’s influential players on the pitch. Lest we forget, Bruno is a dead-ball specialist who is largely involved with set-piece duty for the club.
According to our FFHub projections, Fernandes is projected to score an estimate of 20.8 points within Gameweeks 21–24, ranking in the top three projectiles for midfielders.
Man United have a favorable set of fixtures ahead, with three home ties against Southampton, Brighton, and Crystal Palace, which is a promising outcome for Fernandes to haul soon.

Mid-Priced FPL Midfielders
Eberechi Eze (£6.6m) – Crystal Palace (TSB, 8.2% ownership)
Crystal Palace talisman Eberechi Eze recently brewed back to form as he has now delivered 15 points in his previous two matches, contributing a goal and assist for the Eagles.
Key stats from Eberechi Eze this season:
- 57 shots total (5th highest for shots taken in the league)
- 31 chances created (17 from open play)
- 29 successful dribbles completed
- Touches in the opposition box: 60
With 1343 minutes played, Eze remains a key ingredient in Crystal Palace’s front line. However, one area where the Englishman may fall short is his finishing product, as his goal conversion rate of 3.51% is not particularly encouraging.
Based on our FFHub estimates, Eze is anticipated to earn a total of 20.1 points between Gameweeks 21-24, providing a further solid projectile for FPL returns in the coming weeks.

Savinho (£6.5m) – Man City (TSB, 3.5% ownership)
With only 40 FPL points garnered between Gameweeks 1 and 18, Man City’s number 26, Savinho, seems to have found his inner “Mahrez” on the left side of the Cityzens lineup, as he has now amassed 27 points in his last two matches, contributing five attacking returns. The 20-year-old has become a hot subject of discussion among the FPL community.
With Man City finding its footing, Gameweek 21 presents an excellent opportunity to target the in-form Brazilian. Savinho’s underlying stats of 31 shot attempts, 37 successful dribbles completed, 29 chances created, and an impressive total expected assists of 4.46 xA suggest that Savio’s performance would continue to improve if entrusted with more minutes by the manager.

Budget-Friendly Picks
Anthony Elanga (£5.2m) – Nottingham Forest (TSB, 3.8% ownership)
Nottingham Forest December player of the month comes into our list of top midfielders to target thanks to his three goals scored and two assists provided in his last five matches. Just like Savio above, Elanga’s performance seems to have largely benefited due to the gaffer, granting the Swedish attacker more minutes, which has improved his overall game.
Putting this into FPL context, Anthony Elanga has amassed 38 points between Gameweeks 16 and 20, three more than Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon’s 35 points scored in the same timeframe. As of writing, his ownership sits at a modest 3.8%, making Elanga a solid differential to consider from an in-form Forest side.

Jacob Murphy (£5.1m) – Newcastle (TSB, 5.8% ownership)
Although everyone is familiar with Newcastle’s most formidable attacking duo of Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon, one player whose name has been mostly under the radar is Jacob Murphy.
Despite only scoring three goals in the league, Murphy’s underlying statistics suggest he should not be overlooked. Murphy has registered 22 shots on goal, 22 chances created, and boasts a total expected assist of 3.07 (xA).
In his previous five matches, Jacob Murphy has amassed 40 points between Gameweeks 16 and 20. By comparison, this is 11 more than popular budget pick Morgan Rogers 29 points in a similar timeline.
Murphy’s appeal is further heightened by Newcastle’s recent form, as the Geordies are now on a seven-game winning streak and have favorable home ties against Wolves and Bournemouth next. Now is the time to invest in Murphy for your fantasy teams!
And that wraps up our article! Hopefully, these insights support your fantasy decisions and help you rise in your mini-leagues. We’ll be back with more forward-planning tips by Gameweek 25. Good luck, managers!
