FPL GW21 Tips & Preview

Why You Need To Bank Transfers Now?

The second half of the season has many opportunities to make big gains in rank. Double Gameweeks, Blank Gameweeks and the use of your five playable chips now heavily come into play. Making the right move at the right time can pay off big time.

The first of the double gameweeks is predicted to potentially fall into Gameweek 24 or Gameweek 25 and would see Liverpool & Everton both play twice in the gameweek that their rescheduled fixture is dropped into.

Ideally, you will want at least 3 free transfers saved by the time that week comes around to allow you to set your team up optimally without taking any points hits. There is also the Assistant Manager chip which looks ideal to be played during a double Gameweek. The chip however requires you to have up to £1.5m spare budget to transfer in your chosen assistant manager. The assistant manager chip also locks you out of playing any of your other chips for three gameweeks so it could be an ideal time to use it in the quieter gameweek 24-25 timing rather than the more hectic gameweek 30+ period.

Having the flexibility to have all the best double gameweek players at every opportunity will provide greater value than any sideways moves between similar levels players that are both currently fit and healthy.

Save your free transfers, start planning your chip strategy, beat your mini league opponents.

Bryan Mbeumo Thoughts

Mbeumo has 26 points in his last two gameweeks from 3 goals, 1 assists & 3 bonus points. 19 of these 26 points came against Southampton who continue to show relegation form but it reiterates the role that Mbeumo plays in Brentford’s offence.

The Brentford midfielder plays 90 minutes every week and is on penalty duties. Many managers dropped him before his harder run of fixtures which saw him return in 3 out of 5 of them, with the Arsenal goal being somewhat fortunate in a fixture where Arsenal dominated.

At a current price of  £7.8m, Brentford now have a fixture run consisting of Man City (H), Liverpool (H), Crystal Palace (A), Spurs (H), West Ham (A), Leicester (A).

Due to being the key man in a Brentford team that excels at home and has been in great attacking form this season, you don’t need to wait to get him in. He can return in any of the mentioned fixtures. The space created behind the defence by some of the stronger teams in the league can be somewhat beneficial to Brentford’s attacking style.

Gameweeks 25 – 28 would be the best set of fixtures to bring him in for if you don’t feel comfortable bringing him in before facing some of the top teams.

Daniel Munoz

Munoz continues to be a key player for Crystal Palace, especially their attacking system. The Right wing back had the average position of a right winger in Palace’s most recent fixture and his 3.3 expected goals plus 2.3 expected assists show he has been unlucky to not provide more than his 2 goals and 1 assist for the season.

He has recorded a shot on target in almost every recent fixture and also provided multiple key passes on many occasions.

Key Stat- Munoz:

  • Foden
  • Son
  • Mbeumo
  • Saka
  • Odegaard
  • Eze
  • Cunha
  • Hojlund
  • Rogers
  • Martinelli
  • Mitoma
  • Bowen
  • Murphy
  • Amad

This is a random list of players who have less xG/90 than Munoz since GW10

With Palace’s run of upcoming fixtures and their improving form Munoz is a great pick with the triple threat of clean sheets, goal and assists points all on offer for the Colombian.

Munoz has a history of attacking data to support choosing him. He provided an assist once every 4 games on average last season. He also recorded 23 goals & assists across 68 fixtures for his previous club Genk.

GW21 Key Fixture Analysis

Crystal Palace v Leicester:

Crystal Palace have seen a resurgence in their form as their fixture difficulty eased. If you exclude their Arsenal fixture, Palace are unbeaten in their last 8 fixtures and face Leicester City in Gameweek 21.

Leicester have lost their past five consecutive games under their new manager and have conceded 2+ goals in every fixture while only scoring two goals total. The underlying data tells a similar story. The fans and many commentators have questioned some of the personnel choices in the Leicester lineup and the results are showing.

Matchup alert:

Leicester have conceded 28 chances from their left flank over the last 6 matches- Highest among all the Teams.

Right Wingers vs Leicester City :

  • GW16: Murphy- 2 goals, 3 pts
  • GW17: Guedes- Goal, Assist,13 pts
  • GW18: Salah-Goal, 9 pts
  • GW19: Foden- Assist, 6 pts
  • GW20: Bailey- Goal, 9 pts

Sarr and Munoz up next!

Expect Palace to get on the scoresheet with multiple goals and the likes of Mateta, Eze, Sarr & Munoz to be involved frequently in attacking phases.

Arsenal v Spurs:

Arsenal host Spurs in the latest edition of the North London Derby. A fixture that historically has provided many goals and plenty of excitement.

Spurs are still dealing with an injury crisis and are unlikely to have many players return from injury before the fixture. Arsenal at home have been consistent goal scorers in recent seasons and that shouldn’t change here. Tottenham are one of the worst teams in terms of xG conceded so definitely don’t bench Gabriel.

Arsenal have the majority of their defense and midfield fit to play so Spurs will rely on very few chances to score their goals.
