Best Premium FPL Assets from FPL GW10- Entry & Exit Analysis

Introduction

The main underlying behind rotation of premiums is going to be their propensity in terms of being captained that week. To analyse this at a broader scale, let’s take a look at none other than Legomane’s Captaincy Matrix. [Do make sure to give him a follow!]

Keeping this in mind, let’s take a look at potential hop-ons and hop-offs of these premium Players:

GW10 Potential Entry Options

Mo Salah

The Egyptian Legend is arguable one of the best captaincy option this week as he goes on to face a flaky Brighton Defence. The team might also have a setback due to injury to Dunk. In the next three fixtures, Salah faces Brighton, Villa and Southampton, making him one of the best players to bet on for a double digit hauls.

As we can see from the opposition analysis table, Brighton and S’oton both have been performing poorly. Over the past 5 weeks, Brighton and S’oton are ranked in the bottom half of the league. Despite Villa’s better defensive performance, they are yet to keep more than 1 clean sheet this season.

GW10 Potential Exit Options

Cole Palmer

One of the scariest players to remove in a red hot form is Cold Palmer. In order to capitalise over the better captaincy options, he has a two week window where managers can afford to bid adieu for 2 weeks.

Despite Man United have had a poor season so far, they have just sacked ETH and appointed a new manager. With a new manager in town, the team could be high in morale and defy their stats. In GW11, although Arsenal’s side has been giving away a lot more goals than earlier, Arteta somehow manages to keep the game closed-off. It should also be noted that Arsenal have also had 3 red cards this season, affecting their defensive numbers. Palmer could do well in both of these games, but the likelihood, as compared to the likes of Salah, seems low.

The transfer out for him ultimately depends on various factors – Team Value, Free Transfers as well as Team Structure, with a view to bring him back after two weeks.

Other Mentions for GW10

Saka – Exit Option

A lot of managers are also considering to sell Saka in order to make funds for Salah. Although Saka does have worse fixtures than Salah’s, he still face leaky defences and would again be needed after two weeks. In GW10 he goes up against Newcastle, who are in the bottom half in terms of xGC this season.

Even Chelsea in GW11 are 10th in terms of xGC, hence making it possible for Arsenal to get a couple of goals in the game.

GW11 Entry Option

Son

Son has been in consideration for many weeks now. FPL managers have been dancing with Saka and Son since the previous International Break. After returning from his long injury, he managed to score a goal against West Ham. However, he is still being eased back, therefore making GW11 a perfect week to jump on him. Given he is fit through GW10, the matchup against Ipswich looks better than ever to captain him.

Apart from that, he is also one of the few captaincy options in GW13 against Fulham at home [Alternative: Saka against West Ham (A)]. He has good fixtures all the way up till GW19, and some good captaincy weeks before that as well. With people starting to look away from Haaland, he could be a nice differential to gain some ranks.

Ipswich in their current form looks like the worst team in the league with20th in terms of xGC/90 over last 5 games. This fixture looks like a good alternative to those without Haaland (or even with) in GW12. After GW12, Son faces City and Fulham. City have been conceding goals while Fulham has seen some improvement.

GW12 Entry Options

Palmer

Cole Palmer looks like an essential pick post GW12 onwards. Chelsea are ranked 3rd in Fixture ticker from GW12 till GW19. Over the past 5 gameweeks, he is ranked third in terms of xGI/90 of 0.9. He is also in top 5 in terms of Big Chances/90 (1.49) and 2nd in Big Chances Created/90 (1.27).

Leicester, in the chosen time frame, have conceded the most number of Shots in the league. They also have an abysmal defensive numbers, making Palmer an incredible captaincy option in GW12. To add to this, he also faces Southampton in GW13.

Saka

GW12 also poses a good route to own Saka for the long run. He is a consistent player who keeps picking up an assist or bonus points, even on his bad days. For the form he is in, and the consistent run of easy fixtures, its hard to look past him.

He is also a great captaincy option in GW13, GW15 and GW17. Saka has scored more than 2 points in every game this season, barring the one he had missed out due to injury in GW8.

Watkins

The Villa forward is one to keep a close eye on, especially for the Wildcarders and managers looking to go without Haaland. His fixture swing coincides perfectly with Haaland’s trun and would allow to fund a premium Mid such as Palmer or Saka.

These 5 fixtures offer a really good attacking threat and potential to rack up some points. He could also be a differential captaincy shout in GW14 against Brentford as well in GW15 against S’oton. The Chelsea fixture is also not that off-putting considering their defensive form as of now.

GW12 Exit Options

Haaland

It is always difficult to lose one of the best players in the game. However, ahead of some relatively difficult fixtures, with other premiums (such as likes of Palmer, Salah & Son), removing him and improving overall squad strength doesn’t seem like a bad idea.

All the way till GW17, there are some good contenders for captaincy, which makes the 15.4 million price tag a bit too much for Haaland. Moreover, the busy schedule of December could force some rotations out of Haaland.

However, in GW18 & 19, he faces Everton and Leicester, making him a great captaincy option yet again.

GW13 – Exit & GW15 – Entry: Salah

GW13 offers another opportunity to jump off Salah to fund any other potential captain of your choice (Son/Saka or Palmer). He faces City and Newcastle in those weeks. These are fixtures he could perform well in. Therefore, the decision would depend on overall team strength and flexibility. It would be suggested to treat it as a luxury transfer.

GW15 onwards, Salah has a good run of Everton, Fulham, Leicester & West Ham in next 5 . Therefore, its an extremely small window to jump off of him.

GW17 Exit Option – Watkins

Ahead of City and Newcastle, and based on other players’ form, managers can look to replace Watkins with other mid-price forwards in the category.

About GW18 & GW19

Although there’s a long time to GW18, it looks like a difficult gameweek where managers would have to choose out of the main 4 premiums. All the Premiums have good fixture over both the weeks. Therefore, it would require a play on their team’s as well as opposition team’s form, to decide among them.

GW18 & GW19 Fixtures Overview

As can be seen, in GW18, all of these players (except Son and Watkins) are extremely good options for Captaincy (or even Triple Captain, based on form for some of them). There could be massive variance and swings in those weeks since getting all is near to impossible. Perhaps, a Free Hit chip to the rescue?

Conclusion Table – Premium FPL Assets

This season, more than ever – it feels crucial to have some sort of plan to move players around. Without the plan, it is easy to get blinded by one outlier game/performance. It should also be noted that some major swings can be used as good weeks to Wildcard – GW12, GW15 and GW18.
