FPL Gameweek 5 Transfer Tips: Two Players to Buy

Everton Eagles

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£5.9m) – FWD, Everton – 3.3% TSB

Dwight McNeil (£5.4m) – MID, Everton – 1.8% TSB

FPL Gameweek 5 Players to Buy- Mcniel and DCL

Everton’s dazzling duo have hit a strong run of form recently. Among the top FPL point scorers over the last two gameweeks, Calvert-Lewin and McNeil stand out as both the most affordable and least owned options.

GW3-4Points ScoredPriceOwnership
Haaland30£15.2m69.6%
Salah19£12.7m46.5%
Calvert-Lewin18£5.9m3.1%
McNeil18£5.4m5.4%
Diaz18£7.8m22.3%
Watkins18£8.9m24.8%

This positions them as ultra-differentials at highly attractive price points.

In Gameweek 5, Everton will take on newly promoted Leicester City, who have yet to secure a league win. Leicester’s defence ranks:

  • 19th for shots conceded in the box
  • 17th for expected clean sheets (xCS)
  • 17th for goals conceded
  • 0 clean sheets

Looking beyond Gameweek 5, Everton enjoys a very favourable run of fixtures ahead.

Therefore, it’s a smart move to consider bringing in one or both of the Everton players.

Jamie Vardy (£5.7m) – FWD, Leicester – 9.9% TSB

FPL Gameweek 5 Players to Buy- Vardy

An FPL legend, Jamie Vardy is proving that he still has what it takes to perform at the highest level. In FPL Gameweek 5, he faces Everton, a team ranked…

  • 20th for Shots on Target Conceded
  • 20th for Big Chances Conceded
  • 20th for Goals Conceded
  • 20th for xCS
  • 20th for NPxGC
  • 19th for xGC
  • 18th for Shots in Box Conceded
  • 0 Clean Sheets

Even in the long term, Vardy’s fixtures look extremely enticing.

This makes Vardy a top priority for your transfers.

FPL Gameweek 5 Transfer Tips: Two Players to Hold

Joško Gvardiol (£6.0m) – DEF, Man City – 25.3% TSB

FPL Gameweek 5 Players to Hold- Gvardiol

Gvardiol is the most transferred-out defender this gameweek, having returned just 5 points in his last 3 matches.

However, he silenced any concerns by starting in the midweek UCL clash against Inter Milan, where he was named Man of the Match. The Croatian international impressed with a 96% pass completion rate, showcasing his composure on the ball while excelling in challenges and headers. The 22-year-old delivered a standout performance at the Etihad Stadium.

In Gameweek 5, Manchester City face Arsenal, a team that sits outside the top 10 for expected goals (xG) and failed to score recently. Without Ødegaard, Arteta’s side could struggle to breach a City defence that ranks 2nd for expected goals conceded (xGC).

Additionally:

  • The last league meeting between the two sides ended 0-0 in March.
  • Arsenal’s most recent match ended 0-0.
  • Man City’s last match also ended 0-0.

Considering these factors, I recommend holding onto Gvardiol.

Gvardiol also looked very attacking after he came on as a substitute in GW4 and was unlucky not to get an attacking return.

Bukayo Saka (£10.0m) – MID, Arsenal – 29.1% TSB

FPL Gameweek 5 Players to Hold- Saka

Bukayo Saka has become the most transferred-out midfielder this gameweek and has seen a price decrease, despite contributing to a goal in every match so far this season.

Among midfielders, Saka is ranked:

  • 1st for Assists
  • 2nd for Shots on Target
  • 2nd for Goal Involvements
  • 3rd for FPL points

Looking ahead, Arsenal’s fixtures beyond Gameweek 5 are highly favourable.

Given these promising factors, holding onto Saka in your Fantasy Premier League squad remains a smart choice.

FPL Gameweek 5 Transfer Tips: Two Players to Sell

Yoane Wissa (£6.1m) – FWD, Brentford – 5.9% TSB

FPL Gameweek 5 Players to Sell- Wissa

Brentford’s forward Yoane Wissa is facing an extended period on the sidelines due to an ankle injury suffered during their match against Manchester City, according to manager Thomas Frank.

Wissa had to leave the field in the first half of Brentford’s 2-1 loss to City last Saturday after a challenge from midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

The DR Congo striker, who had earlier found the net to give his team the lead at the Etihad, is anticipated to make his comeback sometime in November.

“Wissa is, unfortunately, not good news – it looks like an injury that will be a couple of months,” Frank said.

“It’s very frustrating. We talked about our many injuries last year – I hope I don’t have to talk too much about it this year. I maybe already have.

“We were unlucky with Igor, unlucky with Hickey. We’ve then had two contact injuries with Mathias Jensen and Yoane Wissa, so that’s very frustrating.

“But that’s part of football – we move on and we will find solutions.”

Considering the lengthy period of unavailability, it is wise to sell Wissa.

Martin Odegaard (£8.3m) – MID, Arsenal – 5.7% TSB

FPL Gameweek 5 Players to Sell- Odegaard

Joining Wissa in the medical ward is Arsenal captain Ødegaard.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that captain Martin Odegaard has picked up a “serious” ankle injury while on international duty.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder injured his ankle during Norway’s Nations League game against Austria earlier this month, an incident that left him in tears. Arteta has now revealed that the former Real Madrid player will be sidelined for a period of time, though he hopes the injury won’t keep Odegaard out for several months.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Arteta said: “Recent scans showed damage to one of the ankle ligaments. It’s quite a serious issue, so we’ll be without him for a while.”

Hence it is prudent to sell Ødegaard this week.
