We are into the final four weeks of what has been an enthralling FPL season. A lot of managers will be looking to use their Wildcard this Gameweek. This week, therefore, presents possibly the last opportunity for managers to move away from the template or take some calculated risks to move up the ladder. With that in mind, in this article, we discuss our Top Differential Picks for FPL GW35 based on Stats and Upcoming fixtures.

FPL GW35 Differential Picks (<10% ownership)
Nicolas Jackson vs Aston Villa(A), Spurs(H), £6.8m, TSB: 5.9%
Chelsea are one of two teams who double in FPL GW35. Therefore, their assets should be a top priority for managers this week. With 10 goals and 5 assists this season, Jackson is the second best asset from Chelsea in terms of goal involvements, behind a certain Cole Palmer.
Nico Jackson is fifth on the list for big chances this season. If the last two matches are anything to go by, against the two best sides in the division in Man City and Arsenal, the Senegalese international is going to keep getting those chances.
Chelsea’s next three fixtures are very attractive in nature. Amidst another three game week, it is imperative to have players who are likely to play the maximum number of minutes. Jackson has played 90 minutes in 6 of the last 7 league matches. With Nkunku being out, Jackson is the only available forward for Pochettino to choose from. To add icing on top of the cake, Jackson has successfully escaped the 10 yellow card threshold. Therefore, there is no more a looming threat of a suspension.
Key Stats of Chelsea’ s upcoming opponents
- Aston Villa have the fourth worst record in the league for big chances conceded (95)
- Spurs have conceded 8 goals in their last 3 away matches.
- West Ham have the third worst record in the league for big chances conceded (101)
As we know, both Aston Villa and Spurs play a very high line. That is exactly the type of game Nico Jackson thrives on. Jackson scored at Villa Park in the FA cup earlier in the season. Furthermore, the former Villarreal man scored a hattrick in the reverse fixture against Spurs in what was a crazy game. Therefore, if ever you were to handpick a well suited pair of opponents for Jackson to do well against, you would probably pick Aston Villa and Spurs.

Dan Burn vs Sheffield United(H), £4.5m, TSB: 5.9%
After having a poor run of results defensively either side of the New year, Newcastle have improved a lot of late. The Magpies have kept three clean sheets in the last eight matches, conceding 10 goals in the process. In the eight matches prior to that, they had conceded 23 goals.
Eddie Howe’s men have a phenomenal run of games from now up and till the end of the season. Four of their remaining five matches have an FDR rating of 2. Their next two fixtures are against the lowest scorers (Sheffield United- 33) and the third lowest scorers (Burnley- 37) in the league.
Meanwhile, the Blades and the Clarets have the fourth and third worst record in the league for goals conceded from set plays, respectively. Dan Burn (2.92) has the fifth best record in the league for xG among defenders. He is behind only Cash (4.39), Gabriel (4.08), Dunk (3.07), and Ait Nouri (2.93).

Josko Gvardiol vs Nottingham Forest(A), £4.9m, TSB: 5.1%
It is that time of the season again. It is the time where we all look for bringing in Man City defenders. But we have no idea who is safe in terms of minutes. Managers may think Ederson is the answer, again. But we can’t forget how that panned out last season. In comes Josko Gvardiol into the equation.
The Croatian is not rotation proof or anything like that. But he does however pose an attacking threat. He has scored worldies in each of his last two starts, against Real Madrid and Luton. Against the latter, he got a goal and an assist, in what was a 12 point haul.
The former Leipzig man has registered more shots (25), more shots on target (10), joint most for big chances 93), and second only to Ake(18) for shots in the box(14), among Man City defenders this season. In fact, since his return from injury in GW30, no defender in FPL has had a greater xGI than the Man City man (1.4).
Man City are one of the teams to have a double game week in GW37. The two fixtures prior to that look very attractive. But most importantly, there is no Champions League football in between to be a distraction. Therefore, we are less likely to see rotations from Pep.
Brennan Johnson vs Arsenal(H), Chelsea(A), £5.8m, TSB: 1.0%
Spurs have had a two week break since their 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Newcastle. The North London side have a double game week coming up as they take on title chasing Arsenal and an inconsistent Chelsea in FPL GW35.
Ange Postecoglu’s men are one of only 2 teams to have 6 games left, the other being Chelsea. With that in mind, it is very important to have as many Spurs players as possible. While Son is a shoehorn in everyone’s side, the other slots are up for grabs. We reckon that Brennan Johnson is the next best option from Spurs.
The former Nottingham Forest man has registered 14 attacking returns (5 G 9 A) so far this season. Of which, 11 (4 G 7 A) of them have come since GW18. In this period, only eight players have had more goal involvements than the Welshman. Among the above list, only Jota (556) has played fewer minutes than the Spurs man(996)
Although Johnson hasn’t got himself on the scoresheet as often as the other big hitters in the league, he clearly is the biggest goal threat from Spurs with 11 big chances to his name since GW18. The next best is Richarlison with 7, and Son has had only 4.
Rodri vs Nottingham Forest(A), £5.6m, TSB: 6.0%
If you’re wondering if we have gone nuts in picking a defensive midfielder on a differentials list, then we wouldn’t blame you. But, believe it or not, Rodri has got 15 attacking returns this season. Only three other players from Man City have had more, Haaland(29), Foden (21), and Alvarez (19).
Alvarez’s minutes have been reduced since the emergence of KDB into the XI. KDB might be too expensive to bring in. Haaland and Foden will be there in everyone’s team. Now, of course you could pick one of the defenders, as we ourselves suggested in Gvardiol.
But, if you had a close at the double in GW37, Man City have two away games, one of them is against Spurs. The Champions have only kept 3 clean sheets on the road all season. There is, therefore, a case to make for an alternative third player. That is where Rodri comes in.
If we take a look at Rodri’s performances this season in FPL as a pair of fixtures, The Spaniard has had 8 double digit hauls out of the 16 pairs. That is a 50% hit ratio. In four of the remaining eight pairs, Rodri missed games due to suspension/ picked up a red card or City had only one fixture. Effectively, he has blanked only twice in any pair of fixtures that he has fully played in ( GW13-14 and 29-30).
Over the past couple of seasons, Rodri has proven to be a clutch player in the business end of the season for Pep’s men. In the 2022-23 season, the Spaniard scored in both the Quarter Finals and the Finals of the Champions League. In the 2021-22 season, in the Premier League, Rodri scored 4 goals in the last 5 Gameweeks.
With the above two points in mind, it would be a fair argument to make that Rodri can be an excellent option as a fifth midfielder in your FPL squads.

Rasmus Hojlund vs Burnley(H), £7.0m, TSB: 5.2%
After going 6 games without a goal in all competitions since injury, Rasmus Hojlund ended his drought last night as he scored the 4th goal in Manchester United’s 4-2 win against Sheffield United. This means that the Danish international now has 8 goals and 2 assists in his debut season in FPL.
One thing we have understood about Hojlund in his first season in England is that he is a streak player. Nine of his ten attacking returns prior to last night came during a period of seven matches between GW19 and GW25. Even in the Champions League, his five goals came in the first four matches, and nothing in the last two matches.
Hojlund’s stats from Serie A from last season make for an interesting reading. All of his attacking returns came in streaks. He never had a pair of fixtures where he got an attacking return and did not have another one either side.
This season in the Premier League too it has been the same story. In other words, Burnley in FPL GW35 better look out for the Danish international!
