Pros and Cons of FPL GW6 Wildcard

Pros:

  • Get performing players like Mbeumo, Alvarez, and Maddison if you don’t have them already.
  • Tottenham are out of the Carabao Cup and are not involved in Europe either. They are good in form. It can help to get players like Son, Udogie, and Maddison right away.
  • Getting to Liverpool attackers easily before everyone jumps on GW8/GW9. Or have a plan to get them by GW8/GW9
  • Can Target Newcastle, particularly defense(even double up)
  • Fix the GKs- Leno/Areola(Good rotation). or even go Areola/Turner. Areola has good fixtures from GW10 that he can be the first-choice set and forget keeper in your FPL team.

Cons of FPL GW6 Wildcard

  • 5 games might still be a sample space to judge. Some players who were unlucky and had good underlying numbers can come good in the coming weeks.
  • The team you are going to make in the GW5 Wildcard draft should hold you good until GW20
  • Need to make calls on Manchester United midfielders(Rashford, Bruno)- Good fixtures coming up but their form is not so great
  • Can go without Son/Spurs till GW7(For the tough games against Liverpool, and Arsenal) and get Spurs on GW8 Wildcard.
  • Need to plan your team for the future when most of the other managers are wildcarding around GW8/GW9.

FPL GW6 Wildcard Drafts

Note: Budget may vary for every manager based on their team value, if you fall short by 0.1/0.2 go for an alternative at that price point from the players to target list above.

FPL GW6 Wildcard Draft 1

FPL GW6 Wildcard
  • Flekken has decent fixtures and has good clean-sheet potential in the next few games, Brentford’s defence has the 6th best xGC in the league so far this season(6.05 in 5 games). They have also conceded only six goals in five games.
West Ham have a positive fixture swing from GW7 onwards
  • Areola is the other keeper in this draft, he has made 26 saves so far this season which is the 2nd best in the League, at just 4.1 Million he’s a no-brainer option.

Defenders:

Newcastle kept their first clean sheet of the season vs Newcastle in GW5. The Newcastle defence have conceded just five big chances which is the joint lowest in the league in spite of playing some of the best attacks in the Premier League so far this season. Doubling up on their defence still seems a good strategy even though they have a tricky UCL group to navigate!

Newcastle Defence numbers

Big Chances conceded: 5(Joint Lowest in the League)
xGC(Expected goals conceded): 5.45(4th best in the League)
Goals conceded: 7
Opponents faced so far: Brentford(GW5), Brighton(GW4), Liverpool(GW3), Man City(GW2), Aston Villa(GW1). Newcastle have faced 5 of the top six attacks so far this season based on xG!
  • Estupinan and Cash are amongst the in-form defenders in the league so far this season, Cash(3.16) has the highest xGI of the season amongst defenders and Estupinan is 3rd highest amongst defenders(1.51) in spite of missing out in GW5. Aston Villa and Brighton are also 2nd and 3rd for xG so far this season.
  • The last defender spot is taken by Luton’s Mads Andersen, you can also pick Bell or Kabore at 4.0 Million ahead of their double in GW7

Midfielders:

  • Mbeumo has been a key player for Brentford this season and has already registered four goals in the opening five games of the season. His xG(4.14) and NPxG(2.56) is the highest amongst all midfielders this season, Brentford are also 4th amongst all teams for xG(10.53) and he’s another Wildcard essential this week.
  • Mo Salah has been silently raking up the points so far this season on a consistent basis, he’s one of the two players who has not blanked at all this season. Although he has registered only one double-digit haul this season, Liverpool have a great run of fixtures and King Mo could be back to his very best during the fixture run.
  • Salah has also created the most big chances in the league so far this season(6)
  • Maddison is another template option in this draft and is an excellent option to have on the Wildcard. Even though they play Arsenal and Liverpool back-to-back their overall fixtures are great, Spurs are also out of the Carabao Cup and aren’t involved in Europe as well this season which means they’ll be well-rested for their game vs Arsenal and Liverpool, both of them are involved in European fixtures and Carabao cup.
  • Diaby(2 goals + 2 assists) and Saka(2 goals + 2 assists) round up the midfield selection on FPL GW6 Wildcard, the duo have been consistently returning points and offers great value. Diaby is also fairly fixture proof with Aston Villa creating the 2nd highest xG(11.3) amongst all teams

Forwards:

  • Julian Alvarez has seven goal contributions and has scored 37 points so far this season, only eight less than Haaland and he costs only 6.8 Million. Alvarez is also Man City’s corner taker and direct free-kick taker this season and has played 449/450 possible minutes.

  • There is no need to talk about Haaland as he’s an essential and the last spot in the wildcard draft is taken by Carlton Morris who plays Wolves in GW6 and has a double gameweek the following week. Wolves have conceded 11 goals in the league which is the 2nd most in the League and their xGC conceded(10.4) is the 5th worst in the league. He’s a short-term punt keeping the GW6 & DGW7 fixtures in mind.

FPL GW6 Wildcard Draft 2(Trippier + Salah)

FPL GW6 Wildcard Draft 2(Trippier + Salah)
  • A Trippier plus Salah draft which also has Neto as the enabler. Neto has four assists in the league already and he has also created the most chances(17) in the league so far. He’s up against Luton and is an excellent punt to consider on Wildcard.
  • Bowen is the 3rd highest-scoring midfielder in the League so far and has outscored the likes of Saka, Son, and Maddison in spite of facing tougher opponents bar Luton. West Ham have excellent overall fixtures in the long run and he’s a great non-template option to consider
  • Leno and Areola rotate well and are also 3rd and 2nd respectively for saves amongst all keepers.

FPL GW6 Wildcard Draft 3

FPL GW6 Wildcard Draft 3
  • A 3-4-3 draft with Darwin as the 3rd striker in this draft, Liverpool have a good fixture swing coming up and this is an opportunity to double up on Liverpool’s attack before they become template.

FPL GW6 Wildcard Draft 4

FPL GW6 Wildcard Draft 4
  • A slightly differential 3-5-2 draft with Doku and Awoniyi in it. Awoniyi has silently been raking up points consistently this season and offers great value at his price point.
  • Doku was simply sensational for Man City with Pep later admitting that he did not expect him to be performing at this level in only his 2nd game.
  • You can play Morris and Neto in GW6 and play Morris and Awoniyi in DGW7.
