The 3 most popular captains of GW2 scored a combined 10 points amongst themselves – such was the GW. In fact, all the top scorers of GW1 combined a total of 19 points – showing once again why it is pointless to chase points in FPL
Players | GW 1 | GW 2 |
Leno | 12 | 2 |
Varane | 14 | 1 |
Wan-Bissaka | 12 | 1 |
Disasi | 11 | 0 |
Rodri | 13 | 3 |
Barnes | 11 | 0 |
Saka | 10 | 3 |
Maddison | 9 | 3 |
Bowen | 9 | 2 |
Isak | 13 | 2 |
Haaland | 13 | 2 |
Total | 127 | 19 |
Hence, if you had a bad GW, keep your chin up and let’s move forward towards yet another Friday night deadline for GW3. With so many nice fixtures, I am expecting this GW to be a very high scoring one.

So, let’s start with our second BUY-HOLD-SELL article of the season, sponsored by …. Well, nobody. We are poor, but you can help here if you want 😊
FPL Gameweek 3 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY
Ben Chilwell (£5.7m) – DEF, Chelsea – 25.0% TSB
Luton had a blank fixture in GW2. In GW 1, Pervis Estupiñán wreaked havoc vs Luton across the left-hand side of the pitch with
– 70 touches in the Opponent’s Half
– 37 touches in the Final Third
– 6 chances created
– 5 penalty area touches
– 2 big chances created
– 1 assist
Chilwell can have a blockbuster game if he can emulate Estupiñán in GW3 as he plays in a similar role. Chilwell is no minnow himself. Among defenders, he is ranked 2nd for xGI and shots inside the box and 3rd for big chances created. He also had a goal cancelled for offside in GW1. Don’t be surprised if he walks away with a double digit return against Luton.
Eddie Nketiah (£5.5m) – FWD, Arsenal – 6.1% TSB
The absence of Palhinha has hurt Fulham immensely. Amongst all teams, they rank rock bottom for
- Big chances conceded
- xGC
- xGC non-Penalty
In GW3, the Arsenal attackers are expected to have a merry day against the Cottagers.
Among Arsenal players, Nketiah is ranked 1st for:
- Shots
- Shots in the Box
- Big Chances
- NPxG
- Goals
- Assists
- Goal Involvements
- Points
- Value
With these fixtures and with no news of Jesus returning soon, Nketiah can not only become an enabler but also a key asset in your teams in the short term, especially in GW2.

Brentford Attackers
Bryan Mbeumo (£6.6m) – MID, Brentford – 18.2% TSB & Yoane Wissa (£6.1m) – FWD, Brentford – 12.2% TSB
Many thought Brentford will struggle without their talisman, their leading striker & goal scorer Ivan Toney. But they probably underestimated the impact of Mbeumo & Wissa. Their records without Toney have been impeccable.
GW – Opponent | Mbeumo | Wissa |
GW 15 – 22/23 – Forest (A) | 1 Goal | 1 Goal 1 Assist |
GW 19 – 22/23 – Liverpool (H) | 1 Goal | 1 Goal |
GW 36 – 22/23 – West Ham (H) | 1 Goal | 1 Goal |
GW 37 – 22/23 – Tottenham (A) | 2 Goal 1 Assist | 1 Goal 1 Assist |
GW 38 – 22/23 – Man City (H) | 1 Assist | Blank |
GW 1 – 23/24 – Tottenham (H) | 1 Goal | 1 Goal |
GW 2 – 23/24 – Fulham (A) | 2 Goal | 1 Goal 1 Assist |
4 of the next 5 fixtures of Brentford, have an FDR of 2. Expect the duo to carnage more points in the short term

Brighton Assets
Kaoru Mitoma (£6.6m) – MID, Brighton – 42.5% TSB, Solly March (£6.6m) – MID, Brighton – 8.4% TSB & Pervis Estupiñán (£5.2m) – DEF, Brighton – 61.0% TSB
Brighton leads all teams in terms of xG after 2 GWs. But this is hardly a surprise. In the second half of last season (GW 20-38), De Zerbi’s team was ranked 1st for shots, shots on target, shots in the box, big chances and most importantly xG.
Mitoma, March and Estupiñán are 3 of the Top 5 scorers so far (the other two being Mbeumo & Wissa). They face WHU at home who will be without Aguerd. The Hammers have not kept a Clean Sheet in the last 9 league matches. So the trinity might score further attacking points in GW3.

FPL Gameweek 3 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL
Gabriel Magalhães (£5.0m) – DEF, Arsenal – 25.8% TSB
In my last article on Buy-Sell-Hold, I had mentioned that if Gabriel is benched against Palace too, then surely, he is a sell in GW3. So, it’s not a surprise that he is the first name in the SELL list. With Timber out, some of us expected Gabriel to start at Selhurst Park. But it seems Arteta prefers White to play centrally and Partey to take up the RB position. Now with Tomiyasu suspended, some will again hope Gabriel will start in GW3. However Tomiyasu played as a LB. Hence, he will mostly be replaced by Oleksandr Zinchenko who started the behind closed doors friendly match against Luton before GW2 and even made a cameo appearance against Crystal Palace.
It seems like Gabriel has lost his starting berth and the only way he can start is if he replaces Saliba. Even if Gabriel starts against Fulham, what are the odds that he will not be benched again? Hence, I would recommend selling Gabriel this week.

Jordan Pickford (£4.5m) – GKP, Everton – 13.6% TSB
How Pickford made it to 1.3 mn teams is beyond me. Everton defence was horrendous last season. Contrary to popular perception, Dyche didn’t change the fortunes much.
Everton Rank | 22/23 Season | Post Dyche (GW 22 onwards) |
Clean Sheets (CS) | 15th | Joint 6th |
xCS | 16th | 12th |
Goals Conceded (GC) | 13th | 14th |
xGC | 16th | 15th |
NPxGA | 17th | 12th |
Big Chances Conceded | 14th | 13th |
Shots on Target Conceded | 16th | 13th |
Shots in Box Conceded | 19th | 14th |
Shots Conceded | 19th | 13th |
The trend has effortlessly continued this season
Everton Rank | 23/24 Season |
Clean Sheets (CS) | 0 |
xCS | 12th |
Goals Conceded (GC) | 17th |
xGC | 19th |
NPxGA | 16th |
Big Chances Conceded | 15th |
Among GKs who have played this season, Pickford has the least number of points/ matches. Wolves are 3rd for NPxG and 4th for xG heading into GW3. Hence Pickford is a hard sell this week.
