FPL GW37 Captaincy Metrics
FPL GW37 Captaincy poll ~ Wisdom Of the Crowd
Haaland without any surprise tops the captaincy poll this week with 60% of the voters choosing him as their captaincy choice for FPL DGW37. Bruno Fernandes is 2nd with 17% of the votes ahead of fellow Man United attacker Marcus Rashford who is a doubt to play against Bournemouth in the first game of the double due to illness. Mahrez and Alvarez are 4th and 5th in the captaincy poll this week.
The five players to go into the captaincy metrics this week are Haaland, Bruno, Rashford, Mahrez, and Alvarez.

Underlying Numbers of the FPL Gameweek 37 Captain picks
Without a surprise, Haaland comes out on top with a whopping xG of 6.24 in the last six games which is more than the total of the other four players combined!
Haaland’s total big chances(12) are also more than the combined total of the other four players(11).
Rashford who is a doubt to play the first game of the double is 2nd with a good xG of 3.01 in the last six games and he has also had 8 big chances during the period.
Fellow Man United attacker, Bruno Fernandes is 3rd with an xG of 1.74 and is also top for chances created(26) amongst the five players and also overall in the league.
Julian Alvarez and Mahrez who have both started the last four PL games for Man City are 4th and 5th respectively.

Underlying Numbers of the Candidate’s Teams
Man City generally dominate the team stats but this time around they finish on top only by a slender margin with Man United’s xG of 12.57 in the last six games just 0.13 less than that of Man City’s total xG in the last six games(12.70).
There is also a difference of only one big chance between Man City(20) and Man United(19).
Man United have recorded a superior shots in the box(67) when compared to Man City’s tally of 51.

We will use Drafthound’s odds for a Team scoring at least one goal in the Gameweek and the Odds of Scoring more than 2.0 goals in the Gameweek as a whole.

Projections Rank of our FPL Gameweek 37 Captain Picks
In the Fourth Phase of the article, I have used the Anytime Returns and Projected Points Tools available at Fantasy Football Hub. With the help of the Anytime Returns Tool, I have derived the Safety Rank, which helps in determining the Safest Captaincy Option of the week, while I have used the Projected Points Tool to determine the Explosion Rank, which helps in determining the Most Explosive Option of the week. I have then averaged the Two Ranks to churn out the Average Rank Factor, which I have used to determine the Safest yet Explosive option.
Bruno has the highest Anytime Returns Projections at 86%, while his Projected Points stand at 12.5 for the week and is the highest amongst the five players.
Haaland has the 2nd highest Anytime Returns Projections at 84%, while his Projected Points stand at 12.0 for the week, giving him the second spot.
Rashford has an Anytime Returns Projections at 82%, while his Projected Points stand at 10.4 for the week, giving him the third spot.
Mahrez has an Anytime Returns Projections at 69% and Projected Points at 10.2, which puts him in fourth place.
Alvarez has an Anytime Returns Projection at 67%, and the Projected Points at 8.2 this week, giving him the last spot.

Conclusion – Final Rank from our FPL Gameweek 37 Captaincy metric analysis
In the Fifth and Final Phase of the article, I have aggregated the Ranks derived above to pull out the Cumulative Rank Factor (CRF). The Candidate having the lowest Cumulative Rank Factor is the most ideal Captaincy Option according to this metric.
Haaland tops the metrics with a CRF of just 5, the lowest possible CRF is only 4!
Strong team numbers and a favorable fixture have enabled Mahrez and Alvarez to finish joint 2nd!
Bruno is 3rd and Rashford is last, however, the numbers are all tight in the individual tables which shows that Bruno is still a decent alternative captaincy choice this week.
