FPL GW37 Scout Picks

FPL GW37 Scout Picks- Goalkeeper

FPL GW37 Scout Picks- Goalkeeper

Brighton Goalkeeper Jason Steele is our option in this week’s scout picks. He’s been excellent for Brighton since becoming their number 1 GK and is good at making crucial saves and also in distributing the ball from the back. This is reflected in his BPS score of 288 which is the highest amongst goalkeepers in the league since GW26 when he made his first start. He’s also the second-highest-scoring goalkeeper during the period with 58 points just one point behind Martinez who is at the top.

Brighton have a whopping 50% odds of a clean sheet vs Southampton(Via Drafthound) in their first game which is the 2nd highest odds of a clean sheet this week. Although a clean sheet is hugely unlikely in the 2nd game, Steele should be able to gain save points in the games against Man City. One clean sheet, a few save points, and appearance points should be enough for him to return a double-digit haul in FPL DG37.

FPL GW37 Scout Picks- Defenders

FPL GW37 Scout Picks- Defenders

TAA had a big haul in GW36 and is once again back in our scout picks for GW37. He has been excellent since the tactical tweak by Klopp which allows him to occupy midfield positions and play higher up the pitch. Since GW30 when he started playing a bit higher up the pitch, he’s the second-highest in the league for big chances created(8), 2nd highest for xA(3.64), and registered the most assists(6).

Another home game for TAA and an excellent matchup vs Aston Villa(As seen in this excellent thread by @Fantasypaedia) bodes well for Trent from an attacking perspective. Villa have conceded more chances(108) through their right than other areas(As seen below).

Luke Shaw is back in the scout picks selection after a while. He has a double this week and is back playing in his natural LB position which bodes well from an attacking output perspective.

He has a brilliant matchup vs Bournemouth, In the last six games, Bournemouth have conceded 26 chances through their right flank(3rd worst in the league during the period) and this is where Shaw will operate giving him an amazing matchup. The 87 crosses conceded by Bournemouth in the last six games through their right flank is also the most in the league.

Man United also have a good chance of a clean sheet in both games with a 40% chance of a clean sheet vs Bournemouth and a 38% chance of a clean sheet vs Chelsea in the 2nd game of the double(Via Drafthound).

Estupinan is the final defensive option in this week’s scout picks. Estupinan produced a monster 17-points(Goal + Assist + CS) haul vs Arsenal in the first game of DGW36 which once again showcased why he is one of the most attacking defenders in the league at the moment.

His 52 touches in the opposition box since the World Cup is the 2nd highest amongst defenders and better than the likes of TAA, Robertson, Trippier, etc.

Since the restart, his 33 chances created is also 3rd highest amongst defenders only behind Trippier and Trent Alexander Arnold.

FPL GW37 Scout Picks- Midfielders

FPL GW37 Scout Picks- Midfielders

Bruno Fernandes has been unlucky not to haul big from recent games. Bruno recorded 9.0 xGI from the last 9 games but unlucky with just 3 goal involvements to show for due to poor finishing from Manchester United. With everything in line to get the UCL spot, we can hope that other attackers complete the chances created by Bruno and his underlying numbers would turn into FPL points.

Bruno Fernandes Stats since GW29(Rank Among Midfielders):

  • Expected Goal Involvement- 9.0(Joint 1st)
  • Key Passes- 37(1st)
  • Big Chances created- 12(1st)
  • Expected Assists- 6.25(1st)

We do expect Mahrez to start both the games in GW37 with the other wingers Grealish and Bernado getting their rest. Mahrez can always be explosive whenever he starts, He averages 0.93 Goal Involvement since the World Cup whenever he has started a game. He is surely worth the punt ahead of Gameweek 37.

Fernandes and Mahrez are discussed in detail in our FPL GW37 Differentials article. Do check it out!

Rashford is a doubt as quoted by Ten Haag for the Bournemouth game. Marcus Rashford did return to training this week but has reported an illness today as quoted by Ten Haag-“We have to see how he recovers during the day and see tomorrow.” Despite the doubt, He is still there in our Scout Picks because of how important Rashford is for United. United will do everything possible to get him fit for these 2 games as they would need to win both to secure UCL qualification ahead of GW38.

Mac Allister did get rest in the second game of DGW36 and is expected to start both the games in GW37 with Brighton needing to win to secure their Europa slot. Since the restart, Mac Allister(who is also on penalties) has recorded 10.4 xGI from 18 games(15 starts) with 12 Big Chance Involvements. Only Salah(0.54), and Rashford(0.64) have better xG/90 among Midfielders than Mac Allister(0.48) since the World Cup.

Brighton will be up against a Southampton side who are relegated rightly so- Winless since GW27 and have conceded 25 goals from 11 games(2nd Highest in the league). In the second game they are up against a City side who could rest 5-6 key players if they secure their title. This could work in the favour of Brighton and Mac Allister.

Salah is the only Single Gameweek midfielder in this team and rightly there so. In his so called flop season has already crossed the 200 point mark and is still going strong at 229 points with 19 goals, 11 assists. He has also peaked over the last few games. Since GW31, Salah tops all the underlying data among Midfielders- xG, Big Chances, Goals, Shots inside the box. He has also returned 63 points from these 7 games averaging 9 points/game.

Haaland aka the Robot takes up the armband in our Scout Picks for FPL GW37. 36 Premier League goals with 3 games to go is something we have never heard. Haaland has started 32/33 Premier League games he has been part of this season. Despite the slight chance that he gets rested for the second game of the Double if City wrap up the title, it is difficult to bet against the man. He could easily get a hattrick in the first game vs Chelsea. Just give him the armband!

Alvarez is the final pick in our GW37 Scout Picks. He is still owned by less owned by than 5% managers and is a good punt for the DGW37. The versatility of Alvarez makes him a good minutes pick where he can operate in the positions of KDB, Gundogan, Haaland and even on the wings. He is expected to get 100-150 minutes across these games. Despite not getting enough starts in Premier League this season, he has 8 goals, 3 assists despite starting just 11 games this season which suggests that he can be explosive whenever he starts!
