FPL GW36 Scout Picks

FPL GW36 Scout Picks- Goalkeeper

FPL GW36 Scout Picks- Goalkeeper: Ederson

Here we go through pain once again! Surely he has to keep a clean sheet at some point right?

After losing the clean sheet from one goal conceded in five straight games, he was benched for the game against West Ham in which Man City kept a Clean sheet. He returned to the lineup in GW35 and lost the clean sheet once again by a one-goal margin.

Man City’s 6 big chances conceded(Average of only one big chance per game) and an xGC of 4.03 in the last six games is the lowest in the league during the period.

Man City also have the joint highest odds of a clean sheet(50%) vs Everton this week. All things point towards a clean sheet and let’s hope that’s the case this week!

FPL GW36 Scout Picks- Defenders

FPL GW36 Scout Picks- Defenders

TAA has been excellent since the tactical tweak by Klopp which allows him to occupy midfield positions and play higher up the pitch. Since GW30 when he started playing a bit higher up the pitch, no player has created more chances(16) and registered more assists(6) than TAA.

He is also second for big chances created(8) and xA(3.59) only behind Bruno Fernandes. Leicester have conceded 12 goals in five games(4th highest during the period) under Dean Smith including 5 in their last game against Fulham. If you have him then surely play him this week, he’s due a big haul and this could be the week!

Trippier has been a disappointing asset over the last few weeks with his attacking returns drying up and Newcastle keeping only one clean sheet in their last 14 games!

However, the underlying numbers are still good, in the last 14 games they have kept one CS but have also not conceded heavily(18 goals) from an xGC of 16.85(3rd lowest during the period).

Trippier has also been consistently creating chances that aren’t being converted, in the last six games alone he has created 21 chances(2nd highest in the league), 3 big chances(3rd highest amongst defenders), and has had an xA of 1.84(3rd amongst defenders). He’s still the standout option to consider from Newcastle’s defence for their double this week.

Estupinan is the next pick among defenders. He’ll be facing two good attacking teams in Arsenal and Newcastle which diminishes the chances of a Clean sheet. However, Estupinian is still a great option from an attacking perspective alone. He is one of the most attacking defenders in the league at the moment as his 45 touches in the opposition box since the World Cup is the 4th highest amongst defenders and better than the likes of TAA, Robertson, Trippier, etc.

Since the restart, his 30 chances created is also 3rd highest amongst defenders only behind the two other defenders on our scout picks this week.

FPL GW36 Scout Picks- Midfielders

FPL GW36 Scout Picks- Midfielders

The midfield is dominated by the Brighton Double up of Mitoma and Mac Allister who did combine to score in the surprise 1-5 loss to Everton. Both are excellent value for money picks and have been performing well since the World Cup.

Since the restart, Mac Allister(who is also on penalties) has recorded 10.3 xGI from 16 games(14 starts) with 12 Big Chance Involvements. Only Salah(0.54), and Rashford(0.64) have better xG/90 among Midfielders than Mac Allister(0.53) since the World Cup. If you are looking to replace March, he should be on top of your plans as Brighton are the only team to Double in both GW36 and GW37 as well. Arsenal have conceded more chances through the center(58) compared to either flanks(49 and 37) since the World Cup. This matchup along with penalties increases Mac Allister’s appeal.

Mitoma is another player who picks himself. Mitoma averages 5.66 FPL Points and 0.6 xGI per 90 minutes since the restart. He has just one return from the last 6 appearances but has been really unlucky while recording 3.2 xGI during this time.

Salah in his so called flop season has already crossed the 200 point mark and is still going strong at 217 points with 19 goals, 8 assists. He has also peaked over the last few games. Since GW31, Salah tops all the underlying data among Midfielders- xG, Big Chances, Goals, Shots inside the box. He has also returned 51 points from these 6 games averaging more than 8 points/game. He will be up against a Leicester side who have conceded 12 goals from 5 games since Dean Smith took over.

The midfield is completed by Mahrez who didn’t play a single minute in the midweek UCL Semis vs Real Madrid. With the 2nd leg game coming up next midweek, expect him to start/get plenty of minutes again this week in GW36. Mahrez has always performed really well when given the opportunity to start. He almost averages a return every game he starts. Mahrez, in fact has the most assists(10) in the league since the World Cup break.

Mahrez Stats per start since the World Cup break:

  • Expected Goal Involvement– 0.6
  • Goal Involvement– 0.93
  • FPL Points– 5.93

FPL GW36 Scout Picks- Forwards

FPL GW36 Scout Picks- Forwards

Wilson is the Highest scoring forward in the game since GW29- On par with Haaland for FPL Points(56) and Goal Involvements(9) despite 5 appearances off the bench. He is the more risky pick for minutes while Isak is the safe option for expected minutes. Isak should be the more reliable pick going forward, but Wilson edges it out for this week in terms of Captaincy due to these excellent numbers. Do have an eye on our Highly successful Captaincy Metrics for GW36 before locking your captain.

Wilson Stats since GW29:

  • Goals– 8(1st overall)
  • Big Chances– 8(Joint 3rd among Forwards)
  • xG– 3.97(4th among Forwards)
  • Goal Involvements- 9(Joint 1st overall)
  • FPL Points– 56(Joint 1st among Forwards, 2nd overall)

Haaland aka the Robot completes the Scout Picks for FPL GW36. He misses out on the arm band due to Single Gameweek but he should start against Everton despite the tight schedule with the league title not yet secured.
