FPL Gameweek 23 to Gameweek 25 is a busy period with multiple teams doubling and blanking. In this blog, we take a look at the best teams and players to target from DGW23 to DGW25. We’ll keep the blog updated up until GW25 based on previous gameweek results considering the fact that teams like Liverpool who double in GW25 aren’t in form now but will be interesting to monitor in the next two gameweeks with key players returning from injuries.

FPL Teams & Players to Target from DGW23
A quick recap on the Doubles/Blanks from FPL DGW23 to DGW25
- FPL DGW23: Double for Arsenal and Man City
- FPL GW24: Normal gameweek, no teams blanking or doubling
- FPL DGW25/BGW25: Double gameweek for Liverpool, Arsenal, Wolves, and Everton. Blank gameweek for Man United, Newcastle United, Brentford, and Brighton.
Full details on the blanks/doubles from now till the end of the season:
FPL DGW23 players to Target:
FPL DGW23 players, I consider important to own:
- Man City: KDB/Haaland
- Arsenal: Nketiah/Saka
Haaland is already a must, and likely everybody’s captain and Triple captain candidate for some managers. KDB is commonly owned and needs little explanation. I’m not going to go super in-depth on either so I can cover assets people might transfer in.
Additionally, Man City assets are very good for FPL DGW23, but if you are planning ahead for BGW25/28 it may be difficult to get them out without hits. NFO(A) + BOU(A) in GW24/25 does make those hits feel worth it. I would prioritize 2 assets, Haaland + KDB/Mahrez, if you are feeling it, the triple-up is viable, or even Akanji/Ake.
On the other hand, ARS has a DGW in GW23 & GW25, while also playing in GW28 while many teams including Man city could blank(Whether or not Man City will blank will be known only between FPL GW25 and FPL GW26)
Nketiah (6.7m): ARS
- GW17-GW22: 6 games, 4G, 21 shots, 10 SoT, 20 SiB, 7 BC, 1AA, 4.31 xG
- Read above numbers as Shots on Target, Shots inside the box, big chances, attempted assists, and expected goals.
- Pure poacher, with some refined finishing he would make a mockery of his price
- Arsenal creates a lot, despite their poor game vs Everton, they should bounce back.
- Jesus has returned to non-physical training, but with a knee injury I can’t see him featuring till at least March
- 6.7 Million is a steal, if you don’t have him already, this is the week to get him.
- If looking for a differential, he is a very very good one. Potential for a big haul.

Saka (8.3m): ARS
- GW17-GW22: 6 games, 3G/1A, 14 shots, 6 SoT, 12 SiB, 2 BC, 18 AA, 1 BCC, 1.41 xG & 1.07 xA
- Read above numbers as Shots on Target, Shots inside the box, big chances, attempted assists, big chances created, expected goals and expected assists.
- On penalties, and consistently playing 90 mins
- With a lot of fixtures coming up for ARS, Martinelli → Saka transfer can be worth it
- Consistent goal and assist threat, likely will own ARS for BGW25 & BGW28, so important to have your favorite 3 assets.
- Still only at 26.9% ownership, could be a great rank booster if he hauls

Mahrez (7.7m): MCI
- GW17-GW22: 7 games, 3G/4A, 12 shots, 5 SoT, 9 SiB, 3 BC, 15 AA, 5 BCC, 2.13 xG & 2.51 xA
- Read above numbers as Shots on Target, Shots inside the box, big chances, attempted assists, big chances created, expected goals and expected assists.
- 5/7 starts since GW17, as nailed as he can be under Pep
- 3G/4A, in very good recent form, will it keep up with MCI’s recent drop in form?
- Only 7.7m, cheap option compared to KDB
- Differential @ only 9.8% tsb
- 3 BC + 5 BCC in only 7 games, very involved, very dangerous when on the pitch.
Worth noting with Mahrez, MCI has a BGW in GW28, so if you bring Mahrez in as a 3rd MCI asset, it may require a -4, later on, to get him out. I would advise bringing Mahrez in as an alternative, or if your planned transfers allow for it without too many hits.
FPL GW24 Watchlist/Plans:
PS: It’s still early to judge few teams and their picks that double in GW25(Liverpool, Everton under Dyche, Wolves) along with Chelsea(Who don’t double but play in BGW28 and have good fixtures) we’ll update it based on GW23 results. Take it as more of a watchlist at this moment!
For GW24, as it is a single gameweek in between DGW/BGW fixtures, I would either roll your transfer or use it on someone who helps structure your team for GW25/GW28, depending on your chip strategy/team structure.
Worth noting: I will recommend Liverpool assets for GW25 despite having a tough fixture in GW24 against NEW(A), as it will be important to bring in their assets by FPL GW25. You could use GW24 as an opportunity to set up your team or roll a transfer if you can. In my opinion, I’d avoid NEW(A) as a fixture, especially for MID/ATT assets. As a result, I would prefer to move towards CHE assets in GW24, as they have a great run of fixtures and a BGW28 fixture(vs Everton)
Darwin Nunez (8.7m): LIV
- GW17-GW22: 5 games, 0G/1A, 22 shots, 10 SoT, 17 SiB, 8 BC, 5 AA, 1 BCC, 3.47 xG & 0.84 xA
- Read above numbers as Shots on Target, Shots inside the box, big chances, attempted assists, big chances created, expected goals and expected assists.
- Massive underperformance, expect better results in the near future.
- Darwin has had a tough time since the restart, but LIV have also been very poor as a team
- Differential @ 7.7% TSB. Salah has been putting up weak numbers, in many ways I prefer Nunez.
- Jota is on his way back to training, which may affect his xMins but I’d be surprised if he doesn’t start.
- DGW25: CRY(A)/WOL(H)
- Very good fixtures from now until GW28, MUN(H) + NEW(A) only tough fixtures.

Current FPL GW28 Fixtures
If Fulham lose to Leeds in the FA Cup round five game then Liverpool could double in GW25 and also have a games in BGW28(Only problem is this info will be availalbe between GW25 and GW26)

Joao Felix (7.5m): CHE
This may be premature having only played 1 game due to a 3 match ban, but I am very bullish on Joao Felix.
- Stats vs FUL(A) in GW19: 61 minutes, 6 shots, 4 SoT, 4 SiB, 1 BC, 1AA 1 BCC, 0.82 xG & 0.28 xA
- Read above numbers as Shots on Target, Shots inside the box, big chances, attempted assists, big chances created, expected goals and expected assists.
- 2022/2023 stats (@ ATM): xG/p90 = 0.47 & xA/p90 = 0.25
- 2022/2023 xGI/p90 = 0.72, very solid numbers with limited minutes
- Uber differential @ 0.5% TSB
- Additionally, IMO: 7.5m is a steal, and will be a consistent starter
- Very promising numbers, and from the eye it was even better. If he operates behind/alongside Havertz I can see some very good returns.
- Important to monitor CHE assets in GW23, if it looks promising it is a good gamble in GW24
- Havertz (7.8m) could also be a good option if Felix ends up being more of a creator than a goalscoring threat.

Reece James (5.7m): CHE
- recently returned to the starting 11 getting close to 60 mins
- expecting consistent starts, but always prone to an early sub/possible rotation
- Potter will see him as a very important key to linking DEF-MID-ATT
- 2021/2022 stats: xG/p90 = 0.12, xA/p90 = 0.34
- 21/22 xGI/p90 = 0.46
- Incredible numbers for a DEF asset on FPL, and consistent starts in a solid defensive team are promising for returns
- I would look to get him in once fitness is no longer an issue
Alteratively, Badiashile could also be an excellent option who’s minutes are nailed(Read on him in our differentials blog along with Kilman)
FPL DGW25/BGW25 Watchlist/Plans
Double gameweek for Liverpool, Arsenal, Wolves, and Everton. Blank gameweek for Man United, Newcastle United, Brentford, and Brighton.
GW25 is very tricky with everyone having such different strategies depending on their team. Generally, I would target LIV players in GW25, despite their bad form, key members like Jota, Van Dijk, and Firmino have returned to physical training and I expect results to improve. You can go DGW heavy and pick up EVE/WOL assets based on your chip planning/strategy. I don’t entirely recommend it, but here are a few assets that could potentially return for them: Pickford, Tarkowski, Sa, and Patterson (if fit). Cunha, Sarabia could be an outside shout but minutes are uncertain, Kilman or Bueno represent the budget option for Wolves in DEF. Worth noting, Bueno was recently benched for Ait Nouri, a risk for both games.
Note: Everton double in GW25 and don’t blank in GW28 but play Chelsea away, Wolves will play against Leeds in GW28 only if Leeds lose to Fulham in FA Cup 5th round.
Mohammed Salah (12.6m): LIV
- GW17-GW22: 6 games, 12 shots, 4 SoT, 12 SiB, 3 BC, 9 AA, 3 BCC, 2.22 xG & 1.45 xA
- Read above numbers as Shots on Target, Shots inside the box, big chances, attempted assists, big chances created, expected goals and expected assists.
- Interestingly, I think Darwin > Salah. It is hard to put faith in Darwin over him with his currently poor finishing. However, In 1 less game Darwin has almost 2x the shots, and almost 3x the big chances Salah does. Penalties make Salah more attractive but it’s very close. Darwin could be a monster differential captain in my opinion. Hard to squeeze him in though.
- Best FPL asset across the past few seasons, form is temporary, class is permanent
- As said above, returning key members of the first team will improve Salah’s opportunities
- Penalty taker
- Still only 22.6% of tsb
- Salah has failed to score over 20 PL goals once in his 6-year Liverpool career (19 goals). He is currently on 7 goals, and I expect him to finish closer to 15-20 goals.
- Con: Darwin does take a good amount of goal threat from him

Trent Alexander Arnold (7.3m): LIV
- 6 games, 0G/2A, 7 shots, 2 SiB, 10 AA, 5 BCC, 0.29 xG & 1.89 xA
- Read above numbers as Shots inside the box, attempted assists, big chances created, expected goals and expected assists.
- I believe GW25 is a great time to put faith back in TAA.
- He is still creating relatively well, with 5 BCC and only 1A.
- If Liverpool can get back to good form with a match-fit first team their assets can be very good differentials.
- 16.4% TSB, great differential, especially in the Top 100k.
- On set-piece duties, and a consistent creator for Klopp’s side
- Capable of explosive hauls, many people will stay away from LIV due to form and a DGW is a good time to roll the dice and put faith in and out of form team

Andrew Robertson (6.8m): LIV
- 6 games, 0G/1A 4 shots, 2 SoT, 3 SiB, 6 AA, 2 BCC, 0.24 xG & 0.77 xA
- Read above numbers as Shots on Target, Shots inside the box, attempted assists, big chances created, expected goals and expected assists.
- Relatively good stats but mild compared to TAA. Still a good pick for this period if a reliable 2nd DEF in GW25 is needed.
- TAA’s partner in crime, and arguably a great pick if TAA wasn’t basically the same price
- I don’t mind the double in DEF for LIV in GW25, especially as there are so many options in MID/FWD assets and only a handful in DEF that can be relied upon. Owning both will be a great differential duo
- 5.3% TSB is crazy low.
- I would prioritize TAA over Robertson, but both good picks for this period.
- Liverpool could still have a fixture in FPL BGW28, so the triple-up may pay off for owners (Leeds have to beat Fulham in the FA Cup 5th round).
