FPL GW24 Odds Preview: Goals, Clean Sheets & Predicted Points

With the GW24 Deadline fast approaching, we look to the Bookmakers and Prediction Models to give us an idea of which teams and players are expected to haul. A lot can be drawn from these probability and prediction models if we are able to break them down. In this article, we will perform the analysis on a team level as well as a player level by taking a deeper look at the FPL GW24 Odds.

Teams with Haul Potential in FPL GW24

Man City

Leading the metric for Over 2 Goals this week is none other than Man City. Coming off a huge win against Arsenal which put them at the top of the league, they are back to their best and this has come at a great time for FPL Managers with City assets. They face Nottingham Forest away in GW24 and the last time these two met it was a whopping 6-0 with Haaland scoring a hat trick. Bookies back a big performance from City in GW24 and have them at 45% to put more than 2 goals past Forest.

Chelsea & Man Utd

Close behind City are Chelsea and United, both with a 38% chance of scoring over 2 goals against their opposition in GW24. Chelsea face Southampton who just sacked Nathan Jones and are currently manager-less. The odds are stacked against the Saints who bottled a one goal and one man lead last gameweek against Wolves. As for United, Rashford has been a man on fire for them and the bookies favour United to put a good number of goals past Ward who has let in 13 goals since the restart.

Teams Predicted to Keep Clean Sheets in FPL GW24

Chelsea & Man City

The top 2 on the clean sheet metric this week are Chelsea and City with 56% and 52% respectively. Chelsea have seen a stark improvement defensively since the restart, keeping consecutive clean sheets against Palace, Liverpool and Fulham before conceding their first goal in 4 games against West Ham. Bookies back them to keep this performance up, especially against an uninspiring Saints side who have been tormented with poor performances. As for City, they play Forest who have not scored an awful lot themselves and City are massive favourites for that game.

Wolves & Brentford

Two teams who have quietly been doing very well defensively make the next two teams on the metric. Wolves play Bournemouth at home in GW24 and considering how Bournemouth have been struggling for goals, the Bookies feel a clean sheet is very likely for Wolves. As for Brentford, they are the second best performing defence in the league post restart and their recent performances have shown it. Against Crystal Palace at the Brentford Community Stadium, there’s every chance they continue to show their defensive solidity and clean up against the Eagles.

FPL Gameweek 24 Captaincy Poll

The metrics had a 30/38 “returns record” last season and so far has a 19/22 “returns record” this season. Do vote in this week’s captaincy poll and this week’s captaincy metrics will be done based on the top five players in the captaincy poll

FPL GW24 Predicted Points

Haaland & Rashford

Unsurprisingly, two players who have been flying since the restart top the metric for predicted points. The bookies have Haaland to score 8.1 points and Rashford to score 7.0 points. Considering their current form as well as the strength of their opposition in GW24, you would not put it past them to even exceed this tally. This makes both of them serious shouts for captaincy in GW24.

Mahrez & De Bruyne

With both of them picking up double digit hauls in GW23, Mahrez and KDB are once again favourite to return big against Forest in GW24. Mahrez has been given 6.6 predicted points with KDB close behind at 6.3. If City can continue to keep this momentum that they have built up, we could see a goal fest for them and back to back double digit hauls for these attackers.
