World Cup Fantasy Matchday 5 Scout Picks- Goalkeepers

Costa(Portugal) is our first choice Goal Keeper who will be up against a Morocco side who have made the Quarter Finals for the first time. Portugal have very good chances of keeping a clean sheet.

Noppert at 4.5 is a good budget pick ahead of Matchday 5. Among the teams that are still in Quartrer finals, Noopert has made the most saves(15) in this World Cup. Other 7 keepers have not even crossed 10 saves. Even if Netherlands miss out on a clean sheet, Noppert could come out with some save points.

World Cup Fantasy Matchday 5 Scout Picks- Defenders

We start the defense with the Brazil Double up of Marquinhos and Militao. Croatia have just scored 5 goals(2nd lowest among the 8 teams left) in this World Cup, 4 of them coming against Canada in a single game. In the other 3 games combined they have scored just 1 goal. Alex Sandro is close to returning to full fitness and is likely to start at LB. Danilo vs Militao is a close call at RB in that case. Since Brazil vs Croatia is the first kick off, you can check the Lineups and go for Sandro/Danilo instead of Militao. Otamendi(5.0) is a safe choice if you don’t want to double up and spread the risk.

Luke Shaw vs France is a slightly risky pick with less clean sheet probability. But there is attacking potential up for grabs. Shaw has created 7 chances in this World Cup which is the 2nd highest among defenders. Shaw also likes the big stages and has the knack of getting attacking returns in big games- 5 attacking returns(1 goal, 4 assists) from last 8 games in Major Competitions for England.

Guerreiro vs Morocco is a stand out pick with likely returns from both ends of the pitch. This means a double up in Portugal defense against Morocco who have just 4 big chances from 4 games(They rank 24th for Big chances among the 32 teams involved in the Tournament). Guerreiro has 1 goal, 6 penalty area touches, 5 chances created in this World Cup despite just 2 starts. Morocco have also conceded 41 crosses from their right flank which is the 4th highest among all teams at this tournament. This is where Guerreiro plays which means there could be another Double Digit haul from him!

The defense is completed by Dumfries who had a stellar outing in the Round of 16- 1 goal, 2 assists which accounted for 14 points. Dumfries is essentially a right forward for Netherlands while they are attacking which is highlighted by his 11 penalty area touches(Most among Defenders) and this heatmap.

World Cup Fantasy MD5 Scout Picks- Midfielders

Bruno Fernandes has been literally on fire in this World Cup with 2 goals, 3 assists from just 3 games. He is the key to whatever Portugal does. Bruno Fernandes has created most Big chances(4) among midfielders left in the tournament. With Ronaldo also not likely to start, Fernandes should be among penalties along with the corners and free kicks he takes. This makes him a great Differential Captain option vs Morocco compared to Messi, Mbappe who most of them will pick!

Bukayo Saka is up with a tricky fixture vs France, but a England attacker is surely need considering they have the most goals(12) in this World Cup. While Kane is a forward and there are too many good forwards in the game for just 3 slots, Saka offers the best route to a England attacker. Saka has 3 goals from 3 games and also had underlying numbers- 6 shots, 14 penalty box touches and 3 chances created. Foden(8.5) is also a good shout and it’s a very close call between them.

Rabiot has the most shots inside the box(6) among midfielders still in World Cup. He could be a great budget option at just 6.5. He is capable of making those late runs inside the box and get those goals. Rabiot already has 1 goal, 1 assist to his name and has good underlying numbers- 6 shots inside the box(2nd among mids), 1 big chance created, 16 penalty box touches(2nd among mids).

Di Maria missed out the last game due to an injury and the latest news update is that he will be fit to start vs Netherlands. Di Maria- Messi- Alvarez is a great front three which can unsettle any opposition. Netherlands have conceded 14 chances from the left flank(4th highest among all teams, highest among teams left) in this World Cup. This is where Di Maria operates as RW and thrives making it a good matchup for him.

Klaassen is a good budget pick at just 6.0 million playing in the front three for Netherlands. Only Bruno Fernandes, Paqueta, Di Maria have better than minutes per chance created among midfielders who are in Quarter finals. Klaassen has 2 goals, 1 assist from 4 games(202 minutes) so far.

There is one million left in the bank which can be used to upgrade Klaassen to Paqueta if you are confident of Brazil and Argentina surely going to Semifinals.

World Cup Fantasy MD5 Scout Picks- Forwards

Mbappe is a no-brainer and a must own in World Cup Fantasy at the moment. He has the most goals(5), most Big chances(6), Most Penalty box touches(46), Most shots inside the box(16) in the World Cup. He is also one of the Top Captaincy choices as he looks unstoppable at the moment.

Messi is clearly on a mission and has been putting in top performances to take Argentina within 3 wins of lifting the trophy. Messi has 3 goals from 4 games and has 19 goal attempts, 30 penalty box touches– Second most for all numbers only behind Mbappe.

Richarlison has 3 goals from 3 games from Brazil and looks to be in excellent scoring touch. Croatia have conceded the most big chances(9) and Brazil have had the most Big chances(15) among the teams in Quarter Finals. Along with this, Croatia have conceded 15 chances from the center(3rd highest among all teams, highest among teams left) in this World Cup. This is an amazing matchup for Richarlison who could well be a Differential Captain option.
