FPL GW16 Scout Picks

FPL GW16 Scout Picks- Goalkeeper

Liverpool have been ordinary defensively this season, but Alisson has stood out and is the second highest scoring Goalkeeper in FPL with 62 points. He has made 42 saves this season and Southampton(H) is a good fixture.

FPL GW16 Scout Picks- Defenders

Cancelo, surprisingly has been transferred out by 272,161 managers ahead of GW16 mainly due to the thinking that he is suspended for GW16. To clarify things, Cancelo served the suspension in the midweek Carabao cup and will play the GW16 vs Brentford. Cancelo has already 4 attacking returns(2 goals, 2 assists) this season in addition to the 6 clean sheets. City are a different beast at home and if there is a big score which looks likely, fancy Cancelo to get some attacking returns as well.

Arsenal are a solid team defensively this season with most clean sheets(6) and have conceded the least big chances(16) as well. They are up against a Wolves side who have scored the least goals(8) this season. This matchup is too good to ignore as there is a certain clean sheet up for grabs. Adding to this, Wolves have conceded 40 shots from headers(3rd highest in the league) and if you are lucky you can get a Gabriel header too this week!

Shaw, a differential pick at just 1.9% ownership is a good pick vs Fulham. Over the last 6 matches, Manchester United are the best defense in the league in terms of underlying numbers as they have the best xGC(4.97).

FPL GW16 Scout Picks- Midfielders

Salah has a stunning record vs Southampton- 7 goals, 3 assists from 9 games. He has also got his form with 2 goals and 15 points vs Spurs in GW14. Salah has the great underlying numbers- Most big chances(12), xG(7.02), Most shots inside the box(36) among midfielders this season. On the other Southampton have the least clean sheets(1) in the league. Everything is allinged towards a Salah a return. He should also be the top captaincy choice if we get a team news leak that Haaland is not starting in GW16.

Almiron is the gift that keeps on giving and some of the managers still find a way to ignore it. Since GW9, he has 7 goals, 1 assist from 5 games including 4-double digit FPL hauls. In fact, he is the highest scoring FPL player during this period with 65 FPL points. This is no luck as his underlying numbers have also been good and he has been producing these results over a consistent run.

Rashford has been playing really well and has 4 goals, 2 assists and 60 points this season. In fact, he is second for big chances(9) among midfielders only behind Salah(12). Fulham have conceded 26 chances on their right from the last 6 games which is the 4th highest among all teams and this is very Rashford mostly operates. Fulham are also top for Big chances conceded(20) from last 6 games. Fulham attack too much at home, leaving lots of spaces behind and this is the perfect fixture for someone like Rashford to haul big.

Trossard is another pick who has consistently delivered the goods- 7 goals, 3 assists from 13 games. Brighton are flying high under Zebri and have scored 11 goals from last 4 games. Their GW16 opponent Aston Villa are 2nd worst for Big chances conceded(16) over the last 5 games. Villa have also been trying to play out from the back and Brighton press really well.

Martinelli completes the midfield as he has a really good fixture in GW16. His opponent, Wolves have conceded the most goals(13) in the league from the last 6 games.

FPL GW16 Scout Picks- Forwards

Despite playing just 26 minutes from the last 2 league games due to injury, it is not to be forgotten that Haaland still tops almost all the attacking metrics in the league by a big margin- Big chances(21), xG(12.22), Goals(18) this season. Brentford have conceded 42 chances from center over the last 6 games which is the highest in the league by a big margin.

“We will see, he trained this afternoon. [He is] a little bit better.” This was the quote from Pep when asked about Haaland’s injury. Few hours later, he was seen in training with the team and it looks like he will start vs Brentford. Haaland rightfully takes the captaincy armband as well.

Harry Kane is the final pick. He has not put a single foot wrong this season having blanked only twice since GW2 getting 11 goals and 2 assists from 13 games. He would look to end it on a high before leaving to lead England at the World Cup. Spurs have also been bolstered by the return of Kulusevski and Richarlison which should improve Spurs attack overall and hence Kane’s returns too. Over the last 6 games, his GW16 opponent Leeds have conceded 16 big chances and 12 goals- Both joint 2nd highest in the league.
