Gameweek 10 proved to be a mixed bag with everyone captaining Haaland who did score a goal and return 6 points to make it 9 consecutive games with a return, he’s not blanked in any GW so far and only failed to score once in GW2 vs Bournemouth. He was rested for the midweek UCL game vs F.C. Copenhagen and should be firing to go and rivals Liverpool in Anfield. In this FPL Gameweek 11 Captain Picks blog let’s see what CRF(Cumulative rank factor) Haaland will get and how close the other captaincy candidates will get compared to Haaland in the captaincy metrics.
There have been few shouts of alternative captaincy option to Haaland due to the tricky fixture but Haaland has returned heavily so far regardless of the fixture plus Liverpool have been hit by injuries in their defence.
The metrics had a 30/38 “returns record” last season and so far has an 9/9 “returns record” with Haaland topping the metrics in GW10 and returning with 12 points. Do follow the man behind the metrics @AK_FPL1(Do follow him on Twitter)
Note: “Returns” ~ player topping the metrics getting points returns and not necessarily the highest scoring option of the week. Metrics total points so far: 202 points(24+10+12+34+34+18+12+46+12)

FPL GW11 Captaincy poll ~ Wisdom Of the Crowd
For the first time in a while, the top five in the captaincy metrics poll doesn’t include Salah who once again blanked in GW10 vs Arsenal and was taken off earlier. Although he did score the fastest hat trick in UCL after coming in as a substitute against Rangers midweek. Haaland once again tops the polls but it isn’t a landslide this time with 54% of votes going for Haaland. Kane has been ever-consistent and has been overshadowed by Haaland, he’s second with 16.4% of the votes. Arsenal boys Gabriel Jesus and Martinelli played an integral part in Arsenal’s victory over Liverpool which sees them finish third and fourth in the captaincy poll this week. Zaha edges out Salah to finish fifth in the captaincy poll for GW11. Zaha is making his captaincy metrics appearance debut this season!
The five players going into FPL GW11 captaincy metrics are Haaland, Kane, Jesus, Martinelli, and Zaha.

Underlying Numbers of the FPL Gameweek 11 Captain picks
This time there are five players with xG ranging from 5ish to 1ish. Haaland tops this section of the table comfortably with 25 shots inside the box which is 5 more than former Man City striker and current Arsenal star Jesus who had 20 shots inside the box. Martinelli tops the chances created with 15 chances created, Kane is second only for chances created with 10 chances created. Haaland has a whopping 10 big chances in the last six games, Kane and Jesus have six each and Palace talisman Zaha has 5 big chances.
The xG numbers replicate themselves from the big chance numbers, Haaland is top with an xG of 5.85 in the last six games, I’m running out of words to define such extraordinary numbers. Kane’s number shouldn’t be disregarded he’s almost matching Haaland with an impressive xG of 4.62, Jesus and Zaha also have a decent xG of 3.80 and 2.57 respectively.

Underlying Numbers of the Candidate’s Teams
Another clean sweep for Haaland/Man City with 77 shots inside the box, 25 big chances, and an extraordinary xG of 14.67. Arsenal have some impressive numbers as well with their xG being at 13.59 from the last six games in spite of playing some big teams. Spurs are third amongst the four teams here with an xG of 10.56. Palace numbers are nowhere near the other three with an xG of only 6.31 which is slightly better than Haaland’s xG in the last six games of 5.85.

Fixture Difficulty of the candidate team in FPL GW11
Haaland doesn’t top this section of the metrics which is a breather for everyone including me writing. Arsenal have the highest chance of scoring one goal with an 86% chance of scoring a goal vs Leeds away from home. Arsenal also have the highest chance of 2+ goals, with a 38% chance of 2+ goals. Man City and Spurs are surprisingly equal for both the odds with an 85% chance of a goal and a 36% chance of 2+ goals. Palace are plumb last with a 69% chance of scoring a goal and a 15% chance of 2+ goal, although not bad, it’s nowhere near the odds of the big boys.

Projections Rank of our FPL Gameweek 11 Captain Picks
Kane clean sweeps it in this section of the metrics with a 72% chance of anytime returns and a points projection of 7.7. Jesus, Haaland, and Martinelli are all staked closer with Jesus having an anytime returns of 59% and a points projection of 5.7. Haaland had an anytime returns of 56% with a points projection of 5.8.
Martinelli has a 52% chance of returns and a points projection of 5.6 which is better than Zaha who had a 49% chance of returns and a points projection of 5.0.
Once again it’s not a clean Haaland domination which is refreshing to see after a few weeks.
Will it be enough for Haaland to top the metrics or is it going to be Kane or Jesus?
Let’s find out!

Conclusion – Final Rank from our FPL Gameweek 11 Captaincy metric analysis
Haaland narrowly tops the metrics with a CRF(Cumulative rank factor) of 7 with Jesus closely finishing second with a CRF of 8. It remains to be noted that Haaland was finishing with a CRF of 4, which is the least possible CRF for the past few weeks and this week it’s not the case with Jesus and Kane proving to be strong alternatives.
Kane is third with a CRF of 10, with only a difference of 3 in CRF between Haaland, Kane, and Jesus. Martinelli is fourth with a CRF of 12, meanwhile, Zaha is last with a CRF of 19, and the highest possible CRF is 20.
Remember the lower CRF means the best captaincy choice according to our metrics.
Next week both Arsenal and Man City blank which would make the metrics and captaincy exciting, see you all in a few days for the GW12 captaincy metrics.
