Best FPL Defenders to Target Ahead of GW11

Joao Cancelo, £7.3 Million

Best FPL Defenders to Target Ahead of GW11 ~ Trent replacements in FPL ~ Joao Cancelo

Fixtures from GW11 to GW16: Liverpool(A), Blank, Brighton(H), Leicester(A), Fulham(H), Brentford(H)

The best replacement for Trent is, of course, Joao Cancelo. With 61 points, Cancelo is the highest-scoring defender this season. In 9 starts this season, Cancelo has scored twice and given two assists while also keeping five clean sheets in the process. He averages around 62.8 touches in the opponents’ box, 35 touches in the final third, and 3.4 touches in the penalty box per 90.

He has also had nine shots, three coming from inside the box. Cancelo has also created nine chances for his team this season, however, he is yet to create a single big chance.

He is currently owned by 54.1% of fpl players, so if you don’t already have him, this is the time to bring him in and cut your future losses! He does have a blank in GW12, something to remember before bringing him on.

Kieran Trippier, £5.6 Million

Best FPL Defenders to Target Ahead of GW11 ~ Trent replacements in FPL ~ Kiernan Trippier

Fixtures from GW11 to GW16: Man United(A), Everton(H), Spurs(A), Aston Villa(H), Southampton(A) and Chelsea(H)

The next on our list of Trent replacements is another highly owned player, Kieran Trippier. Trippier is the second-highest point-scoring defender, with 49 points. Priced at 5.6 million currently, he is owned by 53.6% of players. In nine games this season, Trippier has scored once and assisted once while keeping four clean sheets.

He averages around 43.5 touches in the opponent’s half, 28.8 touches in the final third and 0.7 touches in the box per 90. His five shots, however, have all come from outside the box. He has created 18 chances and three big chances this season.

On corners and no blank in gameweek 12, makes Trippier a great replacement for Trent for the upcoming gameweeks.

Ivan Perisic, £5.5 Million

Perisic was rested in the UCL game vs Frankfurt

Fixtures from GW11 to GW16: Everton(H), Man United(A), Newcastle(H), Bournemouth(A), Liverpool(H) and Leeds(H)

The next replacement on our list for Trent is a risky one. Perisic has not been a guaranteed starter for the Spurs this season, making him a pretty risky replacement for Trent.

He has played only 417 minutes this season but has contributed with three assists and two clean sheets even in that small period of time. He averages around 29.3 touches in the opponent’s half, 22.4 touches in the final third and 4.13 touches in the box per 90.

He has had 3 goal attempts, with all three of them coming from inside the box. He has also created 12 chances and two big chances for Tottenham this season. He is also on corner duty for Tottenham.

Is he a risk worth taking for you?

William Saliba, £5.0 Million

Best FPL Defenders to Target Ahead of GW11 ~ Trent replacements in FPL ~ William Saliba

Fixtures from FPL GW11 to GW16: Leeds(A), Blank, Southampton(A), Forest(H), Chelsea(A), and Wolves(A)

Now for some cheaper replacements for Trent, we have William Saliba from Arsenal. In nine games this season, Saliba has scored twice, provided one assist and kept three clean sheets. He averages around 12.7 touches in the opponent’s half, 2.2 in the final third and 0.7 in the box per 90.

Both his goals have come from inside the box and so have all three of his shots this season. He has also created two chances and one big chance for Arsenal this season.

For someone playing in the centre-back position, these numbers are too good. Priced at just 5 million with an ownership of 28.3%, he is one to look out for. However, just like Cancelo, Saliba also blanks in GW 12, something to keep in mind before bringing him on.

Kurt Zouma, £4.5 Million

Best FPL Defenders to Target Ahead of GW11 ~ Trent replacements in FPL ~ Zouma

Fixtures from FPL GW11 to GW16: Southampton(A), Liverpool(A), Bournemouth(H), Man United(A), Crystal Palace(H) and Leicester(H)

The next player in this list for Trent’s best replacements is 4.5 million-priced Kurt Zouma. The next few fixtures for West Ham are Southampton (A), Liverpool (A), Bournemouth (H), Manchester United (A) and Crystal Palace (H).

Zouma has played all nine games for West Ham this season and kept two clean sheets. With favourable fixtures coming up, could we see Zouma and West Ham build on this?

He averages around 4.5 touches in the opponent’s half, 1.5 in the final third and one touch in the box. He has also had six attempts at goal this season, all coming from inside the box. With him winning around 89% of his aerial duels, he is a big threat in the box for West Ham.

Priced at just 4.5 million and owned by just 2.1% of all fpl players, Zouma could be a great differential going forward.

Bournemouth Defender

Best FPL Defenders to Target Ahead of GW11 ~ Trent replacements in FPL ~ Mepham

The next player on our list is a Cherries defender as they have very favourable fixtures coming up. Bournemouth play Fulham (A), Southampton (H), West Ham (A), Tottenham (H), Leeds United (A) and Everton(H) in their next six games till GW16.

Jordan Zemura was our standout option but then he was benched for Ryan Fredericks in GW10 and is no longer a guaranteed starter. Mepham and Smith at 4.4 million are the two nailed options from the Cherries defence.

Bournemouth are quite defensively strong at home keeping 3 clean sheets at home in five games conceding only four goals. A punt on a Cherries defender could work out well!

Marc Guehi, £4.3 Million

Best FPL Defenders to Target Ahead of GW11 ~ Trent replacements in FPL ~ Guehi

The next player on the list also again has favourable fixtures coming up. Crystal Palace play Leicester (A), Wolves (H), Everton (A), Southampton (H), West Ham (A) and Forest(A) in their next six fixtures till FPL GW16.

In eight appearances this season, he is yet to score or assist but has kept one clean sheet. On average, he has eight touches in the opponent’s half, 1.9 touches in the final third and 0.75 touches in the box per 90.

He has taken two shots this season, both of them coming from inside the box. He has also created two chances and one big chance for Crystal Palace this season.

With favourable fixtures, a price of just 4.3 million, and ownership of 2.2%, is he on your list?

Best FPL Defenders to Target Ahead of GW11 ~ Trent replacements in FPL ~ Andersen

Alternatively, Joachim Andersen could also be a great option but he’s priced at £4.5 Million, 0.2 more than Guehi. Andersen is good in terms of bonus points as he does well in BPS which warrants a case to invest 0.2 more in him.

James Justin, £4.3 Million

Best FPL Defenders to Target Ahead of GW11 ~ Trent replacements in FPL ~ James Justin

Fixtures from FPL GW11 to GW16: Palace(H), Leeds(H), Wolves(A), Man City(H), Everton(A) and West Ham(A)

The next player on the list is James Justin. Despite being last in the league this season, Leicester have had a few standout players in James Maddison and James Justin.

In nine games this season, he has given two assists and kept one clean sheet. He averages around 36.4 touches in the opponent’s half, 17.6 in the final third and 0.6 in the box per 90. He has also had 3 goal attempts, with one coming from inside the box.

He has also created six chances. With ownership of 1.5% and a price of just 4.3 million, is he on your list for prospective players to bring on this season?

Fellow Foxes full-back Castagne who is 0.1 Million more at 4.4 Million is also a great option to consider. He bagged 8 points including 2 bonus after being subbed off early against Bournemouth in GW10.

Best FPL Defenders to Target Ahead of GW11 ~ Trent replacements in FPL ~ Castagne

Lewis Dunk, £4.6 Million

Best FPL Defenders to Target Ahead of GW11 ~ Trent replacements in FPL ~ Lewis Dunk

Fixtures from FPL GW11 to GW16: Brentford(A), Forest(H), Man City(A), Chelsea(H), Wolves(A) and Aston Villa(H)

The second-last player on this list of replacements for Trent is a great pick for all of you who are on a wildcard from GW13. It’s Brighton’s, Lewis Dunk.

In eight games this season, Dunk has helped Brighton keep three clean sheets. He has had, on average, 7.8 touches in the opponent’s half, 1.5 in the final third and 1 in the penalty box per 90. Dunk has also had 4 goal attempts this season, with all four of them coming from inside the box.

He has also created one chance for Brighton this season. With a price tag of just 4.6 million and ownership of 4.4%, are you looking at bringing the defender in?

James Tarkowski, £4.4 Million

Best FPL Defenders to Target Ahead of GW11 ~ Trent replacements in FPL ~ Jonny

Fixtures from FPL GW11 to GW16: Spurs(A), Newcastle(A), Palace(H), Fulham(A), Leicester(H) and Bournemouth(A)

Everton have been solid defensively this season and Tarkowski has played a huge role. Everton have in fact conceded just 9 goals so far in 9 games, the joint least goals in the premier league so far which includes a clean sheet against Liverpool. Tarkowski is also a great threat aerially and has a baseline BPS(BPS – Goals, Assists, CS, Red card, Penalty save) of 132 which is third best amongst defenders and just 2 less than Cancelo who is second. He’s also sixth for xG(0.87) amongst defenders and 10th for xGI(1.6) amongst defenders.

The next two fixtures in GW11 and 12(Spurs and Newcastle) are somewhat tricky for Everton but from FPL GW13 to GW16 they do not fave any team from the top half of the table including games against Leicester, Bournemouth, and Fulham.

Few other options as Trent Alexander Arnold replacements ahead of GW11

  • Kilman/Jonny ~ Jonny(£4.4 Million) is a good option but might be prone to rotation with Ait Nouri/Semedo and Jonny playing for two spots, Jonny could also play in a back three having played as a CB vs West Ham in GW9. Although he’s not been benched so far this season. Kilman(£4.5) is a safer option who has played all 90 so far this season. Wolves don’t face any top-six team until GW16.

Since there are quite a few CB’s here’s a list of teams sorted based on most headed shots conceded(1st table) and most shots conceded set pieces(second table) for headed matchups.

Data via FFHub

We hope this list of players helped solve some of the questions you have had since Trent’s injury.
