Top Transfers Ins and Outs Ahead of FPL GW16
With news of his positive COVID test, Ivan Toney sees 225k managers give him the boot. Despite registering a return in GW15, 156k managers are opting to get rid of Raphinha ahead of Leeds’ tough fixture run.
Serving a one game suspension, Duffy sees 153k managers look elsewhere for defensive options. 147k managers have had enough of Gallagher after his 3rd consecutive blank. And Smith Rowe’s sudden injury doubt prompts 141k managers to transfer him out prior to the deadline.
On the flip side, Bernardo is the hottest prospect for GW16, with 497k managers bringing him in after his stellar 15 point haul against Watford. Dennis is brought in by 460k managers ahead of Watford’s fixture against Brentford.
Mount’s 13 point haul has prompted 171k managers to bring in the Chelsea midfielder, while 156k managers are eager to bring in West Ham midfielder Jarrod Bowen after his 11 point haul to target West Ham’s favourable fixture run.
Finally, Ronaldo makes yet another appearance on the top transfer lists, this time the 5th most transferred in player with 131k managers wanting him in for United’s matchup against Norwich in GW16.
The 3 transfer combinations we will be focusing on are: Raphinha to Bowen, Toney to King, and Kane to Ronaldo.
Our Top Three FPL GW16 Transfer Trends Combinations
FPL GW16 Transfer Combination 1:
Raphinha (£6.7) to Jarrod Bowen (£6.4)
As Leeds approach a difficult stretch of fixtures, Raphinha begins to see sales prior to the deadline, with 24.6% of managers making the swap to an emerging midfield prospect – West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen.
On set-pieces, Bowen offers a great budget midfield entry into a favourable West Ham fixture run. Among sub £7.0m midfielders, he is first for shots in the box (27), big chances (8), and xG (5.29). He has also registered 70 touches in the box, 2nd best among sub 7m midfielders.
In West Ham’s thrilling 3-2 win over Chelsea, Bowen scored a goal and an assist, bagging an 11 point haul. He is playing for a West Ham team who are 4th among all teams for xG (24.7).

Who do West Ham face in GW16?
West Ham play Burnley away in GW16. Burnley are worst for most shots conceded in the box (157) and 3rd worst for total shots conceded (233). They have only kept 2 clean sheets so far this season.
West Ham’s good run of fixtures should fare well for Bowen.

FPL GW16 Transfer Combination 2:
Ivan Toney (£6.7) to Joshua King (£5.7)
Toney’s sudden positive COVID-19 test saw him absent from Brentford’s 2-2 draw against Leeds. We can expect Toney to be out for possibly another 2 more gameweeks, making him worth a sell. 26.2% of managers have already made the downgrade to Watford forward Joshua King.
Watford are another team with a decent fixture run. Many FPL managers have looked towards their two forward options: Emmanuel Dennis and Joshua King, who are both roughly the same price. Below we run a comparison of the two Watford attackers:
Upon observation, we can see the King has a greater attacking threat than Dennis, in terms of xG, big chances, shots in the box, and total shots. Formation-wise, King tends to play further up top as a lone striker, while Dennis tends to drift wider as a winger. And, with the absence of Sarr, we can infer that King is very likely on penalties, further boosting his attacking appeal.
And, while the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is still a little while away, we could see Dennis leave for this short hiatus to play for Nigeria. King would be a safe option to keep for the long-term.

Who do Watford face in GW16?
Watford play Brentford away in GW16. Brentford have been plagued with numerous defensive injuries, including goalkeeper Raya and defenders Ajer and Zanka.
From GWs 10 to 15, the period with multiple injuries, Brentford are worst for headed attempts conceded (26), 2nd worst for shots on target conceded (37), and 3rd worst for big chances conceded (16). They have only kept 1 clean sheet, and, in the span of 6 gameweeks, Brentford conceded 12 goals, the worst among all teams from GWs 10-15.
Coming off of a rough defeat against City in GW15, Watford will be looking to capitalise on their good stretch of fixtures. Should fare well for King.

FPL GW16 Transfer Combination 3:
Harry Kane (£12.2) to Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.4)
With the recent news of the COVID-19 outbreak at Tottenham Hotspur, compounded by Kane’s 6 consecutive blanks, managers have been eager to sell the underperforming premium Spurs attacker. With news that the Brighton game in GW16 could possibly be postponed, a whopping 67.3% of managers have opted for the swap to United premium forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
The truth is that there are a lot of question marks around Man United under new manager Ralf Rangnick. Who will be the standout picks? Is Bruno back in contention? Should we look at Rashford or Sancho? Who are the wingbacks to look at?
There is a lot of uncertainty behind this current lineup – however, if there are managers looking to target a great fixture run, they could look at the swap from Kane to Ronaldo.
While not registering a return in the Crystal Palace game in GW15, Ronaldo registered 5 shots, 1 on target, and 4 in the box. He also registered 8 touches in the box.
If there was a United asset to take a punt on for the Norwich fixture, Ronaldo should be the standout pick despite all of the uncertainty.
Who do Man United face in GW16?
Man United play Norwich away in GW16. Norwich have improved ever so slightly defensively under new manager Dean Smith; yet, in terms of fixtures, this would be a defense worth targetting.
They concede 37% of all their chances down the center. Norwich are also 3rd worst for shots conceded in the box (143), worst for shots on target conceded (81), and worst for total goals conceded (31).
That has been 3 potential transfer combinations that FPL managers could consider prior to the Gameweek 16 deadline. Hope this blog provided a bit of insight on viable FPL moves you could take!
