Teams and Players to Target for the next 5 Gameweeks | FPL GW8 to GW12
Chelsea
Even though Chelsea haven’t been at their best this season, they still lie top of the league after having some tough fixtures to start the season. With their fixtures now taking a turn for the better, Chelsea will be looking to stamp authority on the rest of the league by going on a run of impressive victories. Their next 5 fixtures include Brentford, Norwich, Newcastle, Burnley, and Leicester, all of which they will expect to win. Thomas Tuchel has built a Chelsea team that are incredibly solid defensively and have an attacking punch to go with it. Chelsea are the reigning Champions of Europe and with the fixtures coming up, they are must owns in FPL.
Mendy, Rudiger, Azpilicueta, Christensen, James, Alonso, Chilwell, Mount, Havertz and Lukaku are all great options. Personally, I would go with two defenders and Lukaku, Rudiger and Azpilicueta are the most likely to start every week so they would be top of my list.

Manchester City
Manchester City are one of the best teams in the Premier League. Therefore, their assets are always good options all year round. However, if City ever have an enticing run of fixtures, there should be no hesitation in getting their players in your FPL teams. Their next 5 fixtures include Burnley, Brighton, Palace, Man United and Everton. City want to win every game they play but those 5 fixtures will give them plenty of opportunities for goals, clean sheets, and points! The only issue with Man City assets is their manager, Pep Guardiola. We all know about Pep roulette; Guardiola rotates his players so frequently it is hard to pick exactly who will start every week.
The only players who seem to be nailed to start weekly at the moment are Ederson, Dias, Cancelo, De Bruyne and Grealish. Players like Mahrez, Torres and Jesus have had success but aren’t good enough FPL options due to a lack of guaranteed minutes. For me, you can double up on City defence with Cancelo and Dias, then choose an attacker at your own risk, De Bruyne is expensive but is brilliant, or Grealish and Foden can provide cheaper routes into that City team. But what we do know is that whoever does play, tends to score very highly, so picking the right City asset is key.

Southampton
The Saints have had a mediocre start to the season, they have performed well at times and poorly at times, meaning not too many managers have FPL assets from Southampton. However, with a fixture swing that is brilliant, could the Saints become good options for our teams? Their next 5 fixtures are as follows: Leeds, Burnley, Watford, Villa and Norwich. That is a fantastic run of fixtures for the Saints.
So, who are the best Southampton FPL options for our FPL teams?
First up is Tino Livramento, starting the season at just 4.0 million, Livramento quickly become everybody’s budget defensive option. Livramento has rewarded his owners this season with both clean sheets and attacking returns. Livramento remains a great option in your defence. Another cheap option who could benefit from these great fixtures is Adam Armstrong. The Saints frontman started the season well with a goal on his debut but has struggled since in the tougher fixtures. However, with this brilliant fixture run I am backing Armstrong to announce himself as a good Premier League striker by scoring goals and winning games for his team. So, Livramento and Armstrong are my tips for the Saints.

Leeds United
Leeds have had a difficult start to the season, winning just 1 of their first 7 games. However, we know that with Bielsa as manager, Leeds will continue to attack and score goals. With some nice fixtures coming up, it could be time to bring in some Leeds players to our teams. Leeds have Southampton, Wolves, Norwich, Leicester, and Spurs coming up and will be wanting to get some wins under their belt.
Leeds have been struck with many injuries so far this season, especially in defensive areas which is why they have conceded more than they would’ve liked. Therefore, I would stay away from their defensive assets. Although, Meslier makes plenty of saves in goal so if Leeds do keep a clean sheet, he is likely for a big haul. The main Leeds FPL assets lie in theor attack with Raphinha and Bamford. The Brazilian is a fantastic player and central to Leeds’ attack, he will get goals and assists regularly. If Bamford is back fit, then he will enjoy this fixture run and will also score plenty of FPL points. So, from Leeds, Raphinha, Bamford and Meslier are my top picks.

Wolves
After a tough start to the season, in recent weeks, Wolves have started to find some form. A couple of wins in recent weeks has got Wolves playing with confidence. This recent upturn in form coincides with nicer fixtures, as Wolves continue with a nice fixture run, there is no reason why they can’t continue to pick up wins. Their next 5 matches include games against Villa, Leeds, Everton, Palace and West Ham. All these games are winnable for a confident Wolves side.
But who are the best FPL options at Wolves?
The Wolves defence has performed well this year due to their 343 formation. The wing-backs (Semedo & Marcal) offer help at both ends of the pitch. Therefore, I think Semedo is the best defensive option, he is getting clean sheets but also has had plenty of goal scoring chances. With the attack, Jimenez is the main man, after recently scoring his first goal since his horrific injury he looks like he is getting back to his best. However, the best option could be a new signing. Hwang has come in from the Bundesliga and scored 2 goals last game, he looks to have cemented his place in the Wolves attack and at just 5.6 million, could prove a brilliant cheap forward option. If Wolves continue to play well then Semedo, Jimenez and Hwang are my picks to score plenty of FPL points!
