Continuing his ~ Buy, Hold and Sell, FPL Insights is back with 2 players in each category. The FPL Gameweek 4 analysis article intentionally omits the “obvious” targets like Ronaldo or Lukaku, to give you a few options outside of the popular movements in the market!
Before going further do vote for us in the Football Content Awards Finals under the Best in Fantasy Football Editorials category. Allaboutfpl is completely free to access and will remain the same. We do not like putting a paywall on our blogs and disappoint our readers like other websites(Not naming anyone😉). So you can continue to scroll and read without having to pay. Link to all our FPL Gameweek 4 blogs.
Also, vote for Net That Haul for Best in Fantasy Football Video. You can leave the other options to be blank as well. It will take just two mins and would mean so much for all of us involved.

FPL Gameweek 4 Analysis ~ Buy, Hold, Sell
Players to BUY Ahead of FPL GW4
Ferran Torres | 7.1m | TSB – 10.5%
Torres has been brought in by more than 693k managers post GW3, the second most transferred in player after Ronaldo of course.
One way and probably the best way to explain this is his 18 points haul against Arsenal in GW3.
Another way is – he has started 3 matches at #9 position for Man City, who failed to sign a striker in the summer window while Gabriel Jesus started on wings
A quick overview of Torres’ and Jesus’ positioning confirming the same!
There are concerns on his starting spot now that KDB/ Foden are back and to be fair, when isn’t there a concern with PEP Roulette!
I don’t mean to imply I have cracked Pep, though, in my opinion, he realizes that playing KDB in a false 9 position is not the best utilization of a world-class midfielder.
He has said a few times before the start of the season that Torres can play the #9 position and has been true to his word thus far.
While it could 100% backfire, I would rather take chance on a potential game-changer and move him if it does not work out than wonder what Pep does with his lineup!

Adama Traore | 6m | TSB – 2.7%
Traore is truly an FPL enigma. If you have owned him between GW1 to GW3, you want to kick him out and if you haven’t you are tempted to bring him in.
Regardless of where you fall, the conclusion is the same – he has done everything but score/assist a goal! Below are his stats and standing among midfielders. It’s clear he is missing the target, quite literally!
Wolves have an excellent run of fixtures till GW14!! There next four games are
While shooting on target is a personal trait rather than the effect of opposition, an easier fixture can certainly increase the volume of shots (and SOT) if not accuracy.

Players to Hold ahead of FPL GW4
Shaw | 5.5m | TSB – 47%
If you aren’t satisfied with his 11 points across 3 GWs, then you are not alone. No attacking returns and just 1 CS (miraculously!!!) were not part of the plan.
More than 343k managers have already made their feelings known in the transfer market, which will only increase come the GW4 deadline.
What’s interesting is, he is also brought in by 123k managers post GW3 and I wonder why?
Maybe, there is an increased prospect of assists through crosses meeting a familiar head of Cristiano Ronaldo and an overall upliftment of United’s morale with Ronaldo among the squad?
Shaw has delivered 9 corners in the box and 4 successful crosses so far, which can finally find purpose in the next 3 matches if he continues to deliver them.
If you have had patience with Shaw till now, I would hold him at least against New Castle at home, who are 2nd on expected goals conceded so far (xGC = 7.7)

Raphinha | 6.5m | TSB – 16%
Another player we expected to get more than what we got. Just one attacking return in 3 matches looks bad from a bird’s eye view. But if we dig deep, it is not as bad as it seems.
Leed’s were absolutely battered by United in GW1 and Raphinha still managed a BC. He returned in GW2 against Everton and looked very lively against Burnley again getting one BC.
In summary, he is getting into positions to score goals and looks imminent to return in good numbers.
More than 200k managers have transferred him out post GW3 before his 1 match ban against Liverpool in GW4. However, if you skip past GW4, there’s a tremendous potential of points from him in the run-in between GW5 to GW10
His immediate 4 fixtures are
If you already own him, it’s not a bad idea to keep him for a few more GWs for the good fixtures ahead!
Before going further, Do vote in this week’s FPL GW4 allaboutfpl captaincy poll. The same will be available in the captaincy analysis and metrics blog written by@AK_FPL1. The metrics have been delivering consistently with a 100% record this year. Last week the metric predicted Antonio as the best captaincy candidate ahead of Salah, Son, and Kane and he scored a monster haul once again. Stay tuned for the GW4 Captaincy metric to see who tops it!

The results and the captaincy metric blog will be published soon based on the votes.
Players to Sell ahead of FPL GW4
Danny Ings | 8m | TSB – 32%
With a plethora of options in the forward line, it’s hardly a surprise to not have room for Danny Ings (sorry Danny nothing personal!)
He’s been a faithful asset to his managers returning in all the 3 GWs so far. However, with Villa’s fixture swing and other attractive prospects, it’s time to switch the boats. There next 3 fixtures are
He is still owned by 1/3rd of managers and if you are one of them, you could benefit a lot from other options like, Calvert-Lewin, Antonio, and Jiménez; who have better fixtures, take penalties and fall within the same price bucket.
Moreover, despite his fruitful spell so far, he has lacked the underlying stats which is evident from a quick comparison between him and DCL. Even with similar point returns, there is a significant gap between their stats.
Danny Ings vs Dominic Calvert Lewin
Close to 600k managers have already transferred him out, which is only going to increase!

Cresswell | 5.5m | TSB – 17%
If you have owned Cresswell since GW1, you would be quite content with his returns so far. If we break his 14 points, here’s how they look
Hammers kept 0 CSs against opponents who weren’t “tough” fixtures for West Ham. Their expected CS of 1.1 across the 3 matches validates that they weren’t unlucky to lose CSs.
West Ham’s upcoming 3 fixtures collectively pose more attacking threat than the previous three. It’s hard to imagine any CS for Cresswell against these three opponents
And about his attacking returns – if you look back at the game, his goal scored against New Castle was actually a cross (albeit a good one!) and his assist against Palace wasn’t clean either.
His underlying attacking numbers confirm his attacking outputs are not sustainable in the immediate run at least
With fixture swings for some ~4.5m defenders, it won’t be a bad idea to shift funds forward!
