Having been promoted to the Premier League during last year’s unusual season, Norwich City have got some juicy enablers for your FPL teams, our opening 4 fixtures are the worst set in the league as we play Liverpool, Manchester City, Leicester and Arsenal however we do then have a run of decent fixtures which early wildcarders may be able to capitalise on. In this article, I will be going through all of the different positions and the FPL assets to consider from each.

Norwich City FPL Analysis ahead of the 2021/22 FPL Season
Goalkeepers from Norwich City to consider in FPL
We have 3 Goalkeepers in the game and despite some people wondering whether Angus Gunn (4m) would take the No1 spot when he joined last month, it will be Tim Krul (4.5m) who will play between the sticks. Krul is a penalty saving specialist as some may know and he managed an 80% save percentage last season. He conceded just 0.6 goals per game and kept clean sheets in 17/36 matches. Gunn will be the second choice but if Krul gets injured, he could be a great second keeper. McGovern (4m) is the other Goalkeeper and could be chosen due to his cheap price but he will be 3rd choice so Gunn is a better option.

Defenders from Norwich City to consider in FPL
Our stand-out options in defence are our Fullbacks, Dimitrios Giannoulis (4.5m) on the left and the more well known Max Aarons (4.5m) on the right. They are both nailed on when fit and get into very attacking positions even though they only managed 5 attacking returns between them last season. The other two starting defenders will be Grant Hanley (4.5m) and Ben Gibson (4.5m) with Hanley being slightly more nailed however he currently has an injury and despite him being expected back by Gameweek 1, he could miss the first couple of games. Hanley has slightly more goal threat but you can’t expect attacking returns from either of them: this season, Gibson has only had 0.041xG/90 and Hanley has managed 0.065xG/90.
Zimmerman (4.5m) and Omobamidele (4m) could both threaten the places of these 2 and there is also a chance that we change the system completely to incorporate 3 CBs so we need to watch out in preseason to see how we line up. Omobamidele is likely to start in either system until Hanley is back which could be a few games and if he does well, could secure a starting place in the first 11, some people may have seen that he started a lot of games last season but that was due to injuries to Gibson and Zimmerman. Sorensen (4.5m) is our only out of position player as he is listed as a defender but plays in midfield, the only thing about this is that he won’t play very much at all since Gilmour’s arrival.
The reason why he is listed as a defender is that he had to cover at LB for much of last season. The only other defender is Sam Byram (4.5m) who is our third choice left-back and will only play in the case of a Giannoulis and Sorensen injury. Despite all of this, we could be in the market for a new centre back who would take the place of Gibson in the starting 11. Also, there is a slight chance that our system completely changes and we go to a 3/5 at the back, this would make our wing-backs better options but could also include Zimmerman, Omobamidele or a new CB signing if they come into the club.

Midfielders from Norwich City to consider in FPL
There are 9 Norwich midfielders in the game ranging between 4.5m and 5.5m and due to the 4-2-3-1 formation we will probably play, 5 positions for them to play however we could line up with 5 at the back which would only give 4 positions for these players. The most well known amongst the FPL community and second most owned at the time of writing is Todd Cantwell (5.5m) who is nailed on and arguably our best FPL asset in the midfield. He will most likely play on the left of a 3 behind a central striker however will have the licence to drift after Buendia, who occupied a similar position, has departed.
Cantwell will become our main playmaker and will have to take on more responsibility as he gets older and he will play a very big part in our season this year. He however is unlikely to take many set pieces, that will be Dowell (5.5m) who will take all except penalties however he has an outside chance of them, especially if a certain Finn misses a few spot-kicks. Dowell is a lot less nailed however and is more likely to start if we keep playing 4231 next season as he plays as a. He only began starting games late in the season but he started 9 of the last 10 games, bagging 5 goals and 1 assist in those games, he was however often substituted off around the 70-minute mark.
There is one more midfielder at the same price as these two and that is Milot Rashica (5.5m) who is a new addition to the squad who cost us around double the amount that he will cost you to have him in your team. He is likely to play on the right-wing, where Buendia played last season, and the Kosovan will have big shoes to fill as Emi was our most important player last season.
The most owned Norwich midfielder is Billy Gilmour (4.5m) who has arrived in Norfolk after a few world-class performances in Euro 2020 for Scotland. The central midfielder only started 1 game last season for Chelsea but is expected to be a regular starter for the canaries. This is why he is arguably our best FPL asset and one of the best 4.5m midfielders.
He won’t get too many attacking returns, maybe a couple over the season but he should get 2/3 points every week which is what you should want from a bench fodder. Kenny McLean (5m) is likely to start beside Gilmour but Kenny isn’t a good FPL asset, despite being a very important player for us. Lees-Melou (5m) is the only other midfielder who has a chance of starting when everyone is fit, we bought the former Nice captain for around 5m and I think he’ll be back up for the other central midfielders however, he could get in the team. None of the other midfielders are likely to get into the starting 11, they are Placheta (5m), Hernandez (5m) and Rupp (4.5m).

Forwards from Norwich City to consider in FPL
The only forward option that we have is the Finnish Mbappe, Teemu Pukki (6m). He is nailed on and on penalties, there’s not really much more to say. He will be affected by the loss of Buendia but he is our talisman and if we score, he will probably get points after he was involved in 40% of our goals last season with 26 goals and 4 assists. The other two forward we have in the game are Jordan Hugill (5.5m) and Adam Idah (5m) who will both mostly just come on from the bench, Hugill will come on if we need a target man and Idah if we are I need of some last-minute pace.

Norwich city Expected line up
I’ve put together two different expected lineups, one for if we play with a 4231 and one for if we play with a 5 at the back.
This is the formation which we have been playing last season and Dowell, McLean and Omobamidele are the three biggest rotation risks in this system.
There is a chance that we change formation to play with a 541/523. McLean is the biggest rotation risk in this system.
In either system: Krul will start despite Gunn coming in and some people wondering whether Gunn could take the No1. Pukki, Cantwell, Rashica, Gilmour, Aarons, Hanley, Giannoulis and Krul are all nailed with the group of players we have at the moment.
