We’re finally at the end of this crazy season. No one could’ve seen what was coming at the start of the season. There were a lot of surprises, a lot of players and differentials emerging and strangely, some consistent captain choices. So, for one last time, let’s look at the best captains picks for FPL GW38+.
FPL GW38+ Captain Picks:
Sterling(12.0) vs Norwich (H), TSB 22.5%
Sterling is almost a no-brainer captain. Pep has given his squad rest and they will not be playing for another 2 weeks. He will not be prone to rotation and he publicly expressed his desire to score 20+ goals in a season for Man City. He has been one of the highest returning players of the game since the restart, with 7 goals and 4 assists in 7 games that he played.
Pep will be looking to match or even break their 100 goals a season record as they are on 97 and they face a weak Norwich with a lot of players injured/not available (We know how that went the last time around, fingers crossed).
Sterling- The numbers:
- At home, he has 2 goals and 3 assists from the last 152 minutes. That’s a goal involvement every 30 minutes!
- He has returned 68 points since the restart at an average of 9.7 PPG (his game against Burnley not counted as he didn’t take part)
- 36 points from last 3 home starts, averaging 12 PPG
- 66 points from last 6 games averaging 11pts/game with just four starts

Harry Kane vs Crystal Palace (A), TSB: 13.1%
We’re in a time where Harry Kane is a differential option. Spurs have looked shaky all season with injuries, manager changes and a lack of morale.
But they suddenly turned around form a last couple of games and Kane is now hot property. In his last 3 games, he has 4 goals against teams like Leicester and Newcastle. Crystal Palace have looked very shaky in defence since the restart and Mourinho will look to get all 3 points to try to take them to 6th in case Wolves lose or draw to Chelsea.
Harry Kane- Stat attack:
- He has created 5 chances in the last 3 games, 4 of that against Arsenal, and with Son in form too, Kane can be involved in assists too
- He has 11 shots in the last 3 games, with 8 of them on target! That is lethal from Harry.
- Palace are without a point from the last seven games and have conceded the most goals(17)

Salah vs Newcastle (A), TSB 33.5%
It looks like the golden boot is almost out of his reach. He needs 4 more goals to even match Jamie Vardy but the Liverpool talisman would love to end his season on a high. He is the joint highest scoring player in FPL this season with KDB with 232 points!
With 19 goals and 10 assists, he’s been lethal for his side and also having scored on the reverse fixture against Newcastle, he’ll very likely be on target. Klopp’s men would want to get all 3 points at any cost to end their season with the highest ever points tally in their history.
Salah in Numbers:
- Newcastle have conceded the most goals(12), have the second-worst xGA(11.05) from the last 5 games.
- Salah- Best xG in the league(20.47) this season.
- Goal and 9 points in the reverse fixture in GW5

Antonio vs Aston Villa (H), TSB: 5.2%
Antonio had scored only twice before the restart. Now he has a total of 10 goals and 4 assists for West Ham. He looks a different player under David Moyes and they have played good football as he has remained injury-free. Antonio has been involved in 8 goals which included a quadruple against Norwich and he is also on penalties. He faces a Villa Side who have been defensively weak all season and Antonio should be firing against them surely.
Antonio- Key numbers:
- He has returned 66 points in 8 games at an average of 8.25 PPG. This is a crazy stat for the West Ham attacker
- Most goals(8) and best xG(7.39) in the league since the restart.
- He scored 4 against the team who have conceded the most goals in the PL. Aston Villa are the team with the 2nd most goals conceded and we should hope this pattern continues.

Aubameyang vs Watford (H) TSB 22.5%
Mikel Arteta looks to have brought in some life into this Arsenal despite some unfavourable results. Arteta said in the press conference that he’ll play the strongest squad against the relegation threatened Watford team.
Auba has been their best player all year notching 20 goals and is 3 away from the golden boot. It looks like a tall order to get an hattrick but he’ll sure go for it. He’s on penalties and has also scored a freekick so we know he can take full advantages of those situations.
Aubameyang and Watford in numbers:
- Watford have conceded 61 goals, 17 of them since restart(2nd worst), and haven’t got a clean sheet since restart.
- Auba has been involved in 24 goals, just less than half of all of Arsenal goals this season, which is a crazy stat.
- Aubameyang scored 2 goals, got 13 points in the reverse fixture vs Watford
- Watford have conceded most goals(12) from the last 5 games.
