Owners from Saudi Arabia pumping in money, Mbappe speeding through the wings, past one, past two, squares it up for Cavani who hits the post but Coutinho is there to tap it home for Magpies. Coutinho doesn’t stop there, goes straight to Newcastle manager Pochettino and goes on to celebrate with him.
A few months ago, these lines wouldn’t have made sense. But thanks to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). PIF is headed up by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is the main mover behind the bid to purchase Newcastle United from Ashley. They are close to completing a deal that is close to £300 million. A new manager will be the first thing on the agenda before splashing the cash on players. In this blog, lets find out who will be the best managerial choice for Newcastle United!
Does Steve Bruce deserve the sack?
The life of Steve Bruce is hard. He was appointed as the manager following the departure of Rafael Benitez in the summer. Bruce did not have the backing of the fans initially. The club had to spend heavily on attackers this summer following the departure of star forwards Rondon and Ayoze Perez. However, he has done a remarkable job which means Newcastle are now 13th, eight points clear of the relegation zone. A 2-2 draw against City, wins against Chelsea and United also adds to fortunes of Steve Bruce.
Even though Steve Bruce has had a good season by the club’s standards, the new owners will be looking for something more. The Saudi owners would be looking for someone with modern, attractive style of play with more exciting players coming in. So it will be curtains for Steve Bruce invariably.
Newcastle manager Choices
Will Mauricio Pochettino become the new Newcastle Manager?
Current team: Unemployed
Pochettino was controversially sacked by Tottenham Hotspurs in November. The Champions league runner-up was sacked by Spurs after a very bad to the start to the PL season. He is perhaps the most sought manager right now in football and it won’t be easy to get him on board.
Rafa Benitez to return as NUFC Manager?
Current team : Dalian Professional
Rafael Benitez is a know man at St James’ Park and is certainly a fan-favorite. He knows the in and out of the club having been the last manager before Steve Bruce. Benitez certainly has the trust of the fans having stood through the club even when Magpies were relegated.
What Are Footballers Doing During The COVID 19 Football Break?
Does Allegri stand a chance of becoming new NUFC boss?
Current team : Unemployed
670 matches and 14 trophies in Italy is no joke. Perhaps he is the best manager from Italy in the last decade. But it would be his decision whether he wants a new challenge in England. It will be indeed a courageous move to come to the best league in the world and prove.
Andre Villas Boas might have an outside chance?
Current team: Marseille
Villas-Boas was linked back with a move back to Premier League when this Newcastle takeover news emerged. He did a remarkable job at France this season having helped Marseille finish league runners-up this season. Unfortunately AVB had played down to his return to England and has expressed his interest to explore Japan.
Why Pochettino is the best choice to become the next Newcastle manager?
Pochettino is not new to England. He has endured remarkably successful spells at Southampton and Spurs. Pochettino made a great squad at Tottenham with a limited budget and produced results. Perhaps this raises a question,”What could he do with higher budget?”. Only time will answer. There is not certainly a better choice the Pochettino, but if they couldn’t land on him the fan-favorite Rafa would be the ideal choice.
