Fantasy Premier League action is finally set to resume from June 17th after a 100-day break due to COVID-19. An unprecedented long break means a host of injured players have fully recovered and are now expected to be back with full fitness levels. This means there are even more options to consider in FPL as we close towards the season restart. Scroll down further to see some of the players who are returning from injury to consider ahead of FPL GW39 deadline.
Injury returns expected to be fit for FPL GW39
1. Harry Kane 10.8 Mil TSB:8.5%
Mins: 1778 Points: 104 Goals: 11 Assists: 2
Spurs and England forward Harry Kane had a poor season until an injury in GW21 made things worse, ruling him out for four months. Kane was expected to be back in April and the lockdown has come as a blessing in disguise giving him ample time to recover. Spurs have also been bolstered by the return of Son and Sissoko and we expect the Spurs talisman to be back amongst the goals as Jose Mourinho’s spurs look to push for a champions league spot.
Fixtures: Spurs have pretty good fixtures with just two games left against Man United and Arsenal at home against whom he loves to score.
2. Marcus Rashford Price: 8.8 TSB: 9.6%
Mins: 1876 Points: 134 Goals: 14 Assists: 5
Man Utd’s star striker is back from a serious injury and is fully fit and ragging to continue from where he left. Rashford had a stellar season scoring 14 goals and assisting five more making him the fifth-highest scoring forward in spite of being injured since GW22. Rashford is sure to get plenty of chances with Pogba and Bruno playing in midfield behind him in the coming weeks.
Fixtures: Man Utd have the easiest set of fixtures out of all PL teams with an average opponent position of 12.3, least in the league. United face five worst defenses in PL this season in their remaining nine games, we’re surely in for some goals.
3. Heung-Min Son Price: 9.7 TSB: 4.4%
Mins: 1744 Points: 122 Goals: 9 Assists: 9
Son sustained a fractured arm in the early first half during the GW 26 fixture over Aston Villa, yet played through pain and scored two goals scoring 13 points in the process. It was however announced that Son was mostly likely ruled out for the remainder of the season. Son recovered from injury and served three-week military service making him the fittest player. Son could flourish under Jose Mourinho once the season resumes and could be an excellent differential option with less than 5% of managers owning the spurs attacker.
Fixtures: Spurs have pretty good fixtures with just two games left against Man United and Arsenal at home.
4. Aymeric Laporte Price: 6.3 TSB: 2.0%
Mins: 504 Pts: 22 CS:3
Manchester City’s defensive struggles this season have been fairly attributed due to the absence of Laporte who has just played 504 mins of PL football this season. But the City defender is back from injury and looks to be the safest city asset going into FPL GW 39 with fixtures against Arsenal and Burnley.
Fixtures: Man City have a Double Gameweek swiftly followed by trickier games against Chelsea and Liverpool.
5. Leory Sane Price: 9.3 TSB: 0.2%
We all know how good of an FPL asset sane is, with the city attacker scoring 10+ Goals and assists over the last two seasons. However, Sane suffered a serious injury that has restricted him from playing football for a long time. But the city youngster has since made remarkable progress and is now fit and all set play his first minutes of PL football this season. An early DGW 39 makes him an even more tempting option to consider, but it remains to be seen how many minutes he’ll be getting. If you are looking to gamble on a city asset in FPL GW39, sane could very well be a good option.
Fixtures: Man City have a Double Gameweek swiftly followed by trickier games against Chelsea and Liverpool.
FPL injury returns to wait and watch:
1. Paul Pogba Price: 8.3 TSB: 2.8%
Mins: 521 Points: 17 G:0 A:2
Man Utd’s star midfielder has had an injury-marred season and has played just 500 minutes of premier league action. He has since now recovered from the injury and looks certain to take his place in United’s midfield. With Bruno Fernandes alongside in midfield and the likes of fellow Frenchmen martial and Rashford upfront, Pogba could be in for some massive returns and is definitely an FPL prospect to watch out as the season restarts. But it remains to be seen if he will be a better FPL asset compared to the likes of Bruno, Martial, Rashford.
Fixtures: Man Utd have the easiest set of fixtures out of all PL teams with an average opponent league table position of 12.3, which is least in the league.
2.Ashley Barnes Price: 6.1 Mil TSB: 6.2%
Mins: 1350 Points:61 G:6 A:0
Barnes started off the season in sensational form with four goals in the first three games. But his form deteriorated as the season progressed and has been ruled out since January due to a hernia operation. Sean Dyche expects his star forward to be back in training next week and in contention for a start come FPL GW39. Burnley have made the least number to substitution this season meaning Barnes might just be the perfect third striker option.
Fixtures: Burnley face Man City in GW39, which might not be an ideal start, but they do have a good set of games coming up.
3. John McGinn Price: 5.4 Mil TSB: 2.6%
Mins: 1537 Points:61 G:3 A:2
The Scottish midfielder fell victim to a nasty ankle fracture in December in a display of his trademark tenacious play and has since not played again for Villa. Now having fully recovered, McGinn is expected to play a key role through the remainder of the season as villa look to avoid relegation. McGinn could be a worthy fifth midfielder punt ahead of DGW 39.
Fixtures: Villa fixtures list doesn’t look great with tough games against Arsenal, Chelsea, Wolves, Man United, Liverpool still remaining.
4. David Brooks Price: 6.2 Mil TSB: 0.1%
Mins:0 G:0 A:0
Bournemouth’s Welsh prodigy, Brooks enjoyed a stellar debut campaign back in 2018/19 scoring seven goals and six assists, registering 123 points. However, a serious injury has denied him to register a single minute this season. But the good news is that he’s back in full training and with Bournemouth currently in a relegation spot you would expect him to play a key role in the remaining nine GWs as Bournemouth look to beat relegation. Also, with just 0.1% he could be your ultra differential pick as well!
Fixtures: Bournemouth have a tough set of fixtures remaining with just one game having a fixture difficulty of 2.
Other notable injury returns include: Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus Cheek, Yarmalenko, Tierney.
