Welcome to our FPL GW6 Scout Picks blog! The season is properly underway now, teams building momentum, players arriving at full match fitness, and Salah continuing to return despite poor performances… Jokes aside, it’s nice to be back!
We, like many in the FPL community, had a bit of a shocker last week with our Scout Picks. Our picks only managed a meager 34 points in FPL GW5! The official Scout didn’t do much better, only scoring 43, but their higher tally means that we go into FPL GW6 level 2.5-2.5. We’re locked in for FPL GW6, and we’re confident in our picks for this round of fixtures.
GW1 | GW2 | GW3 | GW4 | GW5 | |
AllAboutFPL Team | 62 | 58 | 57 | 68 | 34 |
Official FPL Team | 56 | 50 | 57 | 90 | 43 |
As always, our Scout Picks will be based on the eye test, stats, and analysis. But before we discuss player picks, let’s take a look at the fixtures for FPL GW6.

FPL GW6 Scout Picks – Goalkeeper

Donnarumma (5.6m), along with many of his new and former teammates, spent the mid-week in Paris at the Ballon d’Or ceremony. The trip was not in vain, as he lifted the Yashin trophy for the second time in his young career, making him only the second player to win the award twice! Donnarumma is certainly one of the outstanding goalkeepers in world football right now, so the award was well deserved – on another note, he’s also a very good FPL option for this weekend…

City face Burnley and are one of our teams to target for this weekend. Pep has never lost against Burnley, and has only drawn once (back in 2018), so the odds are definitely in his side’s favour! In fact, in their last 10 meetings in the league, City have conceded just 2 goals, keeping clean sheets in 8/10. Burnley have scored just 5 goals so far this season and are ranked 3rd bottom for xG in the league. Parker’s team have also lost both of their two away games so far this season, and are not favourites going into this next away fixture against City…
City have looked pretty suspect defensively so far this season too, but the addition of Donnarumma has helped to reinforce their backline. Since his arrival in FPL GW4, City have conceded just 1 goal, with the Italian making some terrific saves against United in GW4 to secure his team’s clean sheet. He is also City’s most nailed defensive asset, with their other CBs tending to be rotated in traditional Pep fashion. His ‘nailed-ness’ makes him the best city defensive asset going into this weekend’s favourable fixture against Burnley.

FPL GW6 Scout Picks – Defenders

Porro (5.6m), Tarkowski (5.5m), and Senesi (4.8m) make up our back three for FPL GW6.
Prior to their 2-2 draw with Brighton, Spurs had conceded just 1 goal in the league. In spite of the chaotic game in FPL GW5 against the Seagulls, Frank’s side remain a defense to target. This weekend, Spurs welcome Wolves to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a very attractive prospect for FPL managers indeed!
Wolves are the only pointless team in the Prem going into GW6, having lost every single one of their opening 5 matches this year. Things look pretty bleak in Birmingham, and they look unlikely to get any better as the Wolves hierarchy decided to back their manager, Pereira, by giving him a new contract this week! Wolves have scored just 3 goals and sit at the bottom of the league for expected goals. Wolves are arguably the worst attack in the league, and Spurs have one of the best defensive records, so Porro is an obvious choice!

Tarkowski slots in alongside Porro in the defensive line as Everton have an attractive fixture against West Ham in FPL GW6. West Ham have scored 5 goals (3 against Forest) in their first 5 matches of the new season, but have looked disjointed and pretty toothless in most of those games. The Hammers have created more than 1xG in only one of their matches so far this season (against Forest in FPL GW3), and created only 0.56xG worth of chances against Arsenal and 0.49xG against Palace in FPL GW5.
Everton on the other hand, have been solid up till now. The move to their new stadium seems to have gone smoothly, and they have settled down into life 2 miles down the road from Goodison. Tarkowski remains an ever-present figure in the backline (along with Pickford), and has helped the Toffees to 2 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw across their first 5 fixtures. Moyes’ side have conceded the joint 6th fewest goals in the league so far this season (5), despite having played title holders Liverpool and free-scoring Brighton. They are a rock-solid defensive unit, they are yet to concede at home in the league, and they face a poor attacking side in West Ham. Tarkowski is also pretty good at reaching the defcon threshold, which always helps…

Completing the defense is Bournemouth’s Senesi. The Cherries face Leeds away from home in what is perhaps the most challenging fixture for any of the defenders on this list! Bournemouth have also only conceded 5 goals so far this season, but have a far better expected goals against record than Everton; Iraola’s side are ranked 3rd best for xGA! Bournemouth also have the joint second most clean sheets in the league (3), only behind Newcastle in that metric.
Leeds started the season well but have looked poor since their first victory against Everton in GW1. Farke’s team did, of course, beat Wolves in FPL GW5, but it was only Wolves… Leeds are there for the taking, and Bournemouth are one of the best defenses in the league by most metrics, so their defense is definitely one to target. Senesi himself has reached the Defcon threshold in all of his matches so far this season and has picked up bonus points in three of those matches as well – he is clearly a great asset!

Grealish (6.8m), Kudus (6.6m), Semenyo (7.7m), and Reijnders (5.6m) make up our midfield for FPL GW6!
Semenyo is the only midfielder to retain his spot in the team, so let’s start with him! What a fantastic season this man is having! The Bournemouth winger blanked in GW5, but picked up CS points and defon points, meaning he ended the game against Newcastle on a decent 5 points and continued his FPL scoring form. His underlying numbers are astonishing, his output is ridiculous, and he is part of an excellent team who are off to a flying start this season. Leeds remain a team to target despite their 2 wins, and Bournemouth are showing no signs of slowing down, so Semenyo stays!

Grealish and Kudus both return to the team following their GW5 hiatus. Grealish faces West Ham, who are not only poor offensively, but also poor defensively, meaning that targeting Everton players this weekend is a must! West Ham have conceded the most goals in the league so far this season, and continued their poor defensive start to the campaign by conceding 2 to Crystal Palace in FPL GW6.
Everton, on the other hand, have been far more attacking this season than they were last, with their summer additions of KDH and Grealish being major contributing factors. Both KDH and Grealish remain great FPL picks, but due to his fantastic underlying numbers and great form, we’ve gone for Grealish.
Grealish Vs KDH Attacking Stats:
- 0G 4A – 1G 1A
- 0.56xA/90 – 0.38xA/90
- 3BCC – 3BCC
Kudus has similarly been thriving since his summer move to Spurs. The winger picked up his 3rd and 4th attacking contributions against Brighton in FPL GW5, providing 2 assists for his Tottenham Hotspur teammates during the game. Kudus is averaging just under 0.3xA/90 and is 6th in the league for chances created with 11 (2 behind Grealish, who’s second with 13)! Spurs new attacking line is starting to take shape, but rotation has caused headaches for FPL managers so far this campaign. Fortunately, though, Kudus looks like the most nailed and is therefore our preferred option. He faces Wolves who sit bottom of the league on 0 points having conceded 12 goals across their opening 5 fixtures of the season.

Finally, we have a new entry to the AllAboutFPL Scout Picks team: Reijnders! One of City’s summer additions makes his first appearance for our Scout Picks team, as Pep’s side face Burnley in FPL GW5. Reijnders has managed 3 attacking returns so far this season, and is averaging 0.4xGI/90 in the league! He looks fairly nailed for City, who have an attractive fixture against Burnley in FPL GW6.
The Dutch midfielder will be key if City are to break down Burnley in FPL GW6, as he ranks 2nd in the City squad for Key Passes per 90. He’s averaging 1.8 shot-creating actions per 90 and 0.6 goal-creating actions per 90, making him arguably City’s most creative player so far this season. At such a cut price in FPL, he is an excellent asset considering the fixture, his creativity, his recent FPL point tally, and his nailed-ness.

FPL GW6 Scout Picks – Forwards

Haaland (14.3m), Richarlison (6.7m), and JP (7.8m) complete the team.
The forward line was tough to choose for FPL GW6, with many great options such as Evanilson and Beto ultimately missing out on the final three. Haaland has been doing Haaland things so far this season. City’s number 9 has 6 goals in 6 games from 6xG – classic Haaland… His only blank to date was against Spurs, in all other fixtures, he has managed over 1xG and scored (apart from the Arsenal game, where he had just 0.52xG). City have been a bit shaky defensively, but remain an elite attacking team thanks in large part to their big number 9. He is the only City forward I would consider, and is also a great captaincy choice for City’s game against Burnley in FPL GW6.

Next up is Chelsea’s Pedro. JP has remained pretty constant in our Scout Picks teams so far this season and has returned in 4/6 matches to date. His 5 goal involvements is pretty good, and he is a vital cog in Chelsea’s slick attack. His underlying numbers are a bit low, which is a cause for concern, but he managed to overperform his expected data last season, and may well do the same again if he continues to grow in confidence in his new Chelsea shirt. Palmer is a doubt for this game, making Pedro a great option as the most nailed Blues attacker.

Brighton, Chelsea’s opponents in FPL GW6, have been pretty suspect defensively, making Chelsea’s attack one to keep an eye on. Brighton have the 5th-worst defense in the league according to both goals conceded (8) and expected goals against (7.47). Chelsea on the other hand have scored 10 goals and sit 2nd for expected goals with just over 8xG in their first 5 matches.
Finally, we have our wildcard pick – Richarlison. Richi actually has the best xG/90 in the Spurs squad so far this season, and was also up there last season despite his limited game time. His 3 goals and 1 assist, or 4 goal involvements, in the first 5 fixtures of the new season seem to have gone under the radar a bit, and he is being overlooked for the likes of Kudus and Simons at the moment. Richarlison’s 0.62xGI/90 is pretty good for a mid-priced FPL forward, and Spurs have a great fixture run coming up, starting with the aforementioned Wolves who conceded 3 goals against Leeds last weekend…
