FPL GW35 Tips – Key Questions/Dilemmas Answered
Best Defender Transfer Targets
Gameweek 35 brings us the last month of fixtures that will decide mini leagues and ranks alike. Don’t stress if you have a bit of a mountain to climb, there are plenty of opportunities left to get ahead.

Manchester City defence, especially Gvardiol is a good asset to turn to. 4 clean sheets in their last 6 fixtures show an improvement in previously defensive poor form and their upcoming fixture run includes Southampton, Fulham and a home fixture against Bournemouth.
Gvardiol has 5 goals to his name in the league and also scored on the weekend in the FA cup semi final against Nottingham Forest. Although he hasn’t had found himself in the most attacking positions recently, he still poses a threat and accumulates bonus points.
Gvardiol Attack Rank among Defenders this season:
- Shots inside the Box- 1st
- Big Chances- 1st
- Goals Scored- 1st
Jake O’Brien from Everton is also another great choice. With Ipswich this week at home and Southampton at home in Gameweek 37, these are two great opportunities for clean sheets in what are Everton’s final two games at Goodison Park before changing stadium. O’Brien also has two goals to his name in 14 starts this season and had 6 attacking returns in 26 starts last season. A great rate of returns.

Everton themselves faced a tough fixture run recently but rarely concede more than 1 goal and have posted strong underlying defensive data in this period.
Milenkovic, Murillo, Ait-Nouri & Wan-Bissaka are other names I would consider. Trent Alexander-Arnold provides a high-risk, high-reward differential option.
Nottingham Forest provide a safe choice as their defensive data and clean sheet count has been strong all season. Although they have had a few goals scored against them recently, trust them in their final run for Champions League qualification.

Best Midfielder Transfer Targets
Bryan Mbeumo will be the hot topic of midfield transfers this week. And for good reason.

Mbeumo has an impressive 18 goals and 7 assists to his name so far this season in 33 starts. As Brentford’s talisman, he now has a fixture run of Manchester United (Home), Ipswich (Away), Fulham (Home) & Wolves (Away). One of the better fixture runs remaining this season.
Manchester United will rotate heavily as they focus on the Europa League semi finals while Ipswich have an injury crisis that has seen them concede 7 goals across their last 2 fixtures.
Top Midfielders for Goal Involvement this season:
- Salah- 46
- Mbeumo– 25
- Palmer- 24
- Murphy- 20
- Bruno, Bowen, Luis Diaz- 19
Jarrod Bowen should also be a consideration for everyone for the last month of the season.
He has provided 9 goals and 10 assists in a mostly underperforming West Ham team this season.
1 goal and 2 assists in his last two fixtures shows that he is currently in a vein of form and his next two fixtures against Tottenham & Manchester United will be against heavily rotated sides focusing on European football.

West Ham have the ability to move up 4-5 places on the table if results go their way. This will be important for prize money and attracting transfer targets.
Salah, Murphy & Rogers are also good options as usual. The midfield picks are currently the most template out of the different positions currently.
Other than this, you can use your free transfers to target team fixtures who face Leicester, Southampton and Ipswich. To a lesser extent, rotated Tottenham and Manchester United fixtures are also a good source of attacking returns.

Best Forward Transfer Targets
The forwards discussion this season has oscillated between having a wealth of viable options and also being unable to find two good options at times.
At the moment, we are in a period of having a number of viable options depending on your play style and risk tolerance.
Marmoush, Isak, Cunha, Wood, Watkins, Wissa, Strand Larsen & Welbeck are all realistic targets.
My favourite options based on personal form, team form & upcoming fixtures are Marmoush, Isak, Cunha, Wissa & Watkins.
Marcus Rashford is ruled out of the season due to injury which improves Watkins’ minutes and also his FPL Potential.

All of the above have a good goal share percentage which means that when their team scores, they are more often than not involved.
There is still a chance of double gameweek/blank gameweek news to drop, but this is all assuming currently that we will not have any more fixture movements.
Marmoush’s prospects are tied closely to Haaland’s injury availability. Currently he is not training with the team and having Marmoush in your lineup is not an issue as Marmoush can also play alongside Haaland as well once he is back.
Pep Latest update about Haaland:
“He feels better,” “I said before I don’t know when [he’ll return]. It’s not a comfortable injury… He’s getting better step by step. Still he doesn’t train with the team but we will see how he does.”

GW35 Key Fixture Analysis
Brentford v Manchester United
As I touched on earlier, Brentford host Manchester United who will be playing a heavily rotated side that will be focused on their second leg Europa League fixture as they try to salvage their season and aim for Champions League entry through winning the Europa League.
Brentford’s most recent home fixture saw them beat Brighton 4-2 and their overall form this season shows that they can put 2+ goals past any team that is in the bottom half of the table, especially in home fixtures.
Bryan Mbeumo himself follows a similar pattern and can be relied on in these easier fixtures.
Depending on cup and European results, Brentford could potentially qualify for European fixtures if results go their way so they will be aiming to maximise both points and goal difference in the league table.
West Ham v Tottenham
Similar to the above scenario, Tottenham will be playing a second string team as they face West Ham between their Europa League fixtures which they are attempting to win to salvage their season.

West Ham have been poor and inconsistent this season but they have scored in the majority of their fixtures under Graham Potter and excel at counter attacking football which will fit perfectly against Tottenham’s high line and press tactics.
Even though West Ham have nothing to play for, Bowen stressed the importance of playing for the fans and finishing the season on a high.

Jarrod Bowen remains as the teams talisman with his creative play and clinical finishing. Kudus and the West Ham midfield have been a great supporting act for Bowen.
He has 2 goals and 2 assists in his last four fixtures and this fixture is perfect for Bowen in what is their last remaining London derby of the season.
