FPL GW6 Tips – Key Tips & Questions Answered

1. Invest in Arsenal going into FPL GW6

Invest in Arsenal going into FPL GW6

Arsenal have started the season very well with three wins, a draw due to a red card, and a draw at the Etihad last weekend.

Three clean sheets is a great indicator that the Gunners have continued where they left off last season in terms of defensive stability. Arsenal have only conceded one goal this season while they’ve had eleven men on the pitch and that was scored by Manchester City on the weekend. Calafiori and Timber being available for the squad this season helps immensely on the defensive side me.

Leicester at Home, Southampton at Home and Bournemouth Away in the next three fixtures are the perfect set of fixtures to invest in double Arsenal defence for the next portion of the season. These teams are all in the bottom half of the attacking metrics rankings and lack the class in the final third to score many goals.

Many will take Raya and one centre back. I suggest doubling up on the centre-back pairing of Gabriel and Saliba. This allows you to benefit from Arsenal being the best attacking set-piece team.

Arsenal have scored 25 goals from set pieces since the start of last season, more than any team in Europe’s top leagues.

Saliba had three attacking returns in each of the last two seasons with solid underlying data.

Gabriel has averaged four goals per season in the Premier League and Arsenal are only getting better on their sheet pieces with the Brazilian being the target man.

Raya has had good save numbers but they are likely to be reduced in easier fixtures.

Raya has been crucial for Arsenal & has made some sensational saves, he’s got 6 bonus points in 5 games & has made 23 saves which is the 3rd highest amongst all GKs so far this season.

2. Brentford’s Fixture Swing

Invest in Brentford going into FPL GW6

Brentford face West Ham, Wolves, and Ipswich at Home in the next month who all sit in the bottom six for goals scored this season. Ipswich especially have only managed to create 3.2 xG across their opening five fixtures in the premier league.

This is a great run of fixtures for Mbeumo to get on the scoreboard but also a good opportunity to bring in Flekken as your goalkeeper on wildcard. The mentioned opponents also all sit in the bottom six for goals conceded, which further shows that they are underperforming at both ends of the pitch.

Fulham, Bournemouth, Everton, and Leicester are the next block of fixtures which also provide many opportunities for points on both ends.

The return of key players such as Norgaard, Rico Henry, and Jensen in the coming weeks will allow Brentford to capitalise on their great run of fixtures.

3. Three Forwards needs considering Ahead of GW6

Three Forwards needs considering Ahead of GW6

Many managers started the season with two forwards. This may need to change for the next portion of the season.

As we approach GW6, we now know that Haaland is currently essential. If you havn’t got him in your team, you should still be looking to transfer him in as soon as possible.

To partner with him, we have great options such as Watkins, Solanke, Calvert-Lewin, Isak, Wood, Joao Pedro, and others.

Solanke, I’m particularly interested in as Postecoglou’s system gives plenty of service to the #9, and with balls regularly being flashed across the six-yard box, Solanke will do what he does best and put those chances away.

Scoring his first premier league goal last week for Tottenham will do wonders for his confidence.

Having the flexibility to have three of these forwards at competitive price points at a time could prove the difference between a good and a great rank. Flexibility is almost as important as the player you select in FPL. Injuries, suspensions, and other twists and turns always arise.

In contrast, the mid-priced bracket for midfielders have some great options such as Mbeumo and Luis Diaz but have fewer alternatives to transfer to if need be.

4. FPL GW6 Best Defenders to choose

It is looking likely that Arsenal are the only reliable premium to invest in for clean sheets. The added aerial threat of Gabriel and Saliba is the cherry on top of their defensive juggernaut.

Outside of these two, TAA and Robertson will always be viable options due to their attacking potential as well as a solid number of clean sheets. Liverpool have only conceded one goal this season thus far due to their favourable run of fixtures.

Other than Arsenal and Liverpool, you should either focus on attacking full-backs exclusively or potentially invest in the best budget teams such as Nottingham Forest who have great underlying data.

FPL GW6 Best Defenders to choose

Keep an eye out for Mykolenko for Everton at £4.3m as Jarrad Branthwaite returns from injury and Everton’s fixture turn around for the better.

Branthwaite was the key to Everton’s solid defensive record last season and his return will provide much-needed stability to Sean Dyche’s team.

Mykolenko scored two goals himself last season and created enough chances to record the occasional assist.
