Welcome to our FPL GW4 Scout Selection blog! We return from the international break victorious, having scored a HUGE 92 points in GW3, beating the Official Premier League Scout Picks score comfortably, thanks in large part to our Captain Haaland scoring a hat trick for the second week running!
That means we’re back ahead of the PL Scout’s team 2-1 going into GW4, so let’s keep this momentum going with a strong showing in GW4!

As always, our Scout Picks will be based on the eye test, stats, analysis and in this case also Pre-Season. Let’s first take a look at the fixtures for FPL GW4.

FPL GW4 Scout Picks
FPL GW4 Scout Selection – Goalkeeper
Verbruggen (4.5m) is our choice between the sticks this week; with Brighton unbeaten in the league and a fixture against Ipswich (lowest xG in the league) in GW4, the Seagulls shot stopper looks like a great pick! While Verbruggen himself has only played 1 game so far this season, he looks to be Hürzeler’s N.1 going forwards, so minutes shouldn’t (hopefully) be an issue.
He had a great game against Arsenal, facing just over 2xGOT but conceding just once and making 6 saves in the process, bagging 4 fantasy points on his premier appearance this season. Only conceding once against Arsenal is no mean feat!
Brighton’s xGA this season is currently around 4.11, 8th best in the league, but it’s important to take into account their fixtures with only 3 games having been played : Everton (0.45xGA), United, (1.43xGA) and Arsenal (2.14xGA); against Ipswich who are, as mentioned, the worst attacking team by expected goals, Brighton will expect to keep a CS.

FPL GW4 Scout Selection – Defenders
For the first time this season we’re going for a defensive double up, with both Trent Alexander-Arnold (7.0m)AND Andy Robertson (6.0m) making our FPL GW4 Scout Selection team, with Fulham’s Robinson (4.6m) completing the three man defense. The other defense that we normally look to target is Arsenal, but this week they have a tough fixture, which explains our double-up of LFC defenders…
After excellent attacking performances in recent weeks, Robinson makes the FPL GW4 Scout Selection, having delivered an assist in both GW2 and GW3. While the Englishman is over-performing his xA (having returned 2 assists from just 0.68xA), he consistently occupies positions high up the pitch, and is constantly able to get crosses into the box.
The only issue with Robinson is Fulham’s defensive numbers so far this season. Last season, Fulham had the 7th fewest goals conceded in the league, and kept 10 Clean Sheets, a fairly record for a mid table side, however, they have not been so defensively sound so far this campaign. Conceding 3 goals in 3 games (3xGA) is not great, but one would expect them to get more solid as the season settles down.
Next let’s talk about the defensive duo of TAA and Robbo. A defensive double up is always a risky strategy, as one goal can deprive you of 8 points, so let me explain my thinking. Liverpool’s defensive record so far this season is impeccable, with the lowest xGA, 0 goals conceded and 3 clean sheets. While it’s important to caveat all this by mentioning that they haven’t yet played any of last season’s top 6 (United finished 8th), it’s clear that their defense has improved under their new manager, and that FPL managers should be paying close attention!
The Reds play Forest (H) in GW4, who have been playing well so far this season, but will still be seen by many as a very winnable fixture, and one from which supporters will expect a Clean Sheet. TAA and Robbo are guaranteed minutes, and also offer the potential of attacking returns, with Trent averaging 0.77xA/90 and Robertson averaging 0.08xA/90.
The two of them are nailed, have high CS potential, are two of the most attacking defenders in the league, and have a very favorable fixture this week, it just so happens that they also play for the same team!

FPL GW4 Scout Selection – Midfielders
We’ve gone with a four-man midfield this week, with 2 ‘budget’ options in Minteh (5.5m) of Brighton and Rogers (5.1m) of Villa, and two more expensive assets in Eze (6.9m) and Salah (12.7m). Let’s start with the most expensive.
The Egyptian king has 6 attacking returns in 3 games so far this season, scoring once and assisting twice in GW3 against Manchester United. We hoped that Jota would cover Salah last week, but it’s clear now that he is a must have in all of our teams, particularly with Liverpool’s upcoming fixture run…
He is equal to Haaland in total points (41) and is at the epicenter of all Liverpool attacks. While the arrival of Chiesa may put some managers off, one would not expect Salah to be dropped until the fixtures start piling up (around Christmas / New Year), so for now he should be fine, and for GW4 he is an essential pick.
Next up is Eze. A man who we backed from the very beginning finally returned the favour by scoring a wonderful goal and taking home all 3 bonus points against Chelsea in GW3. Next up, he and his teammates welcome Leicester to Selhurst Park, a mouthwatering prospect that all FPL managers should be targeting.
Despite only getting one attacking return so far this season, Eze’s numbers have been great, taking around 5 shots per 90, 0.37xG and just over 0.1xA. What’s more, we should expect all of those numbers to rise now that Mateta is back fully fit and firing following his trying Olympic campaign which affected his opening few games of the season. Palace’s opponent this week is Leicester City, one of six teams who are still yet to win a game, averaging just over 2xGA over the last two GWs.
Eze is in fact Top for Predicted Points among Midfielders only behind Salah for the next 2 Gameweeks!
From the Eagles to the Seagulls – Minteh is the next midfielder we must discuss! The Seagull’s attack has been outstanding, they’re currently 6th for xG and 4th for goals scored – and that’s despite having already played the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United! In GW1 they were electric, and Minteh, who was touted as one to watch from a fantasy perspective in pre-season, was central, playing 3 key passes and providing 1 assist (in 45 minutes) in their 4-0 victory against Everton.
Hurzeler’s attack is free-flowing and free scoring so it’s essential to get a slice of it in GW4 against the leaky Ipswich Town. Ipswich have conceded 8.2xGA so far this campaign, or almost 2.75xGA/90, which is astonishing, and worrying, even when we take into consideration the calibre of opposition they have faced so far. Minteh is one of the cheapest and best ways into one of the most in-form attacks in the league, which is why he makes the FPL GW4 Scout Selection team!
Finally, we have Rogers. The cheapest and perhaps most controversial pick in this team, a player who has divided opinion in the FPL community ever since the start of pre-season, but is increasingly being seen as a quasi-essential budget enabler. His underlying numbers are good (excellent if you take into account his price), this season he’s averaging 0.12xG/90 and 0.33xA/90, an improvement on his data from last season, but more importantly – he is starting games consistently.
Rogers played 90 minutes in Villa’s first three games of the season, which is promising, but he becomes an even more attractive FPL option when you take into account he started 8 games in a row towards the end of last season before getting injured in GW36 and being out for the final weeks of the campaign – he is clearly central to Emery’s plans.
He’s playing just off the striker for one of the best attacking teams in the league and is only 5.1m, what’s not to love! Villa play Everton this week, who have been struggling in 24/25, and have conceded the most goals so far in the league; a great chance for the young english attacker to shine.

FPL GW4 Scout Selection – Forwards
Some fairly template picks in attack round out this team, with Haaland (15.2m), Isak (8.5m) and Pedro (5.7m) all making the cut for our FPL GW4 Scout Selection squad!
Haaland takes the armband again, with a decent fixture at home against Brentford. He’s looked super fresh in the first few games 24/25, and will be looking to continue his exceptional form into GW4. He’s essential – of course he’ll blank at some point, and disappoint millions of Fantasy owners, but with the form he’s in – he’s a must have!
Next up is Newcastle’s Isak. The Swede has had a slow start to the season, averaging just 0.33G/90 and 0.39xG/90, much lower than last season’s outstanding 0.86xG/90. That being said, he’s a proven premier league goalscorer, so I’d be surprised if that xG/90 number didn’t start slowly creeping up. Newcastle face Wolves, the second worst defense in the league (2nd highest goals conceded). And while Wolves have been unlucky to concede so many (their xGA is only 5.07), Chelsea demonstrated in GW2 how they can be undone, and Newcastle will be looking to exploit those same weaknesses in the GW4.
Finally we have our THIRD Brighton player in Pedro, making his debut for the AAFPL Scout Selection team in GW4. Despite the concerns we have around his minutes due to his late arrival back from international duty in South America, the current intel is that he should have ample time to recover before Brighton’s match on Saturday Afternoon.
Everything mentioned above about Minteh and the fixture is applicable to Pedro, with the added fact that he has been playing in the PL for longer than his Brighton teammate, and is in even better form than him going into GW4! Pedro is averaging just under 0.5xGI/90, and scored crucial goals for Brighton in both GW2 and GW3 against tough opponents in United and Arsenal. While his shot volume isn’t super high (which is a bit of a red flag), he passes the eye-test with flying colours, so with arguably the ‘easiest’ fixture of Brighton’s campaign up next (IPS at home) he makes the FPL GW4 Scout Selection team!
