This tournament just keeps getting better and better! The Quarter Final Fixtures are set, and while it’s becoming harder and harder to find low-owned, high-quality players to get the edge in our mini leagues, there is value to be found still, so in this post, we will attempt to do exactly that! In this post we will be discussing the best 2024 Euro Fantasy MD5 Differentials, taking into account fixtures, form, underlying numbers and of course ownership (or TSB).

2024 Euro Fantasy MD5 Differentials <10%
Dumfries, Price: 5.5m, TSB 8%
A player who made out list for MD1 differentials, Dumfries has proved his worth his tournament, getting 14 points so far having kept 2 clean sheets in 3 matches (he did not play in MD3). While he has not delivered any attacking returns yet*, his record in Seria A suggests that given the opportunity, he has the ability to both create and score chances, which, in my opinion, gives him the edge over his teammate De Vrij (5m, 2%).
The Netherlands’ next match is against Turkey, who were extremely lucky to beat a strong Austria side, losing the xG battle and escaping due to some excellent goalkeeping at the death. Dumfries’ team go in as favorites, having easily dispatched Romania 3-0 in the RO16, conceding only 0.28xG and creating 2.93xG, proving their defensive stability and attacking prowess. The Oranje have been slowly building this tournament and are really starting to click at the perfect time, trippling up on their assets should* set you up well for the final stages of the tournament.

Freuler, Price: 5.5m, TSB 1%
Nottingham Forest star Remo Freuler has been a revelation for Switzerland, starring in a double pivot alongside Leverkusen midfielder Xhaka, bagging himself 22 points so far this tournament, scoring once and providing two assists. Freuler is also a decent asset when it comes to ball recoveries, getting points in 3/4 MDs in this way.
Switzerland’s next match is against England, which will be a test, but one which I expect them to overcome. They dispatched Italy with ease and should’ve come away with all 3 points against Germany in the final group stage game, proving that they are able to compete with the European heavyweights. Furthermore, England have been poor so far this tournament, failing to create too many chances, and looking very disjointed; I expect Switzerland to go through, and if they do, Freuler will be an integral part of their progression.

Rodriguez, Price: 4.5m, TSB: 1%
Another Swiss player makes the list, and for good reason, Switzerland have been excellent in their past two games and deserve plaudits; everything mentioned above about Switzerland’s recent form and their upcoming fixture against England applies again here. Rodriguez himself has been an essential part of Switzerland’s defense this tournament and, against Italy, also demonstrated some interesting attacking elements to his game. Rodriguez kept making under-lapping runs into the opposition half, and playing progressive passes to teammates, highlighted by his 11 passes into the final third (a number only bettered by Xhaka who made 16). The Swiss centre-back also took 2 shots, both from outside the box, but from decent positions.
Southgate’s team have really struggled with chance creation and goal-scoring this tournament, so a Swiss clean sheet is not unlikely. England will likely play similarly to Italy, sitting back and soaking up pressure for large portions of the game, and if Rodriguez can replicate his attacking runs, progressive passes, and long shots against the Three Lions, he could take home some big points in Euro Fantasy MD5.

Upemecano, Price: 5m, TSB 4%
France’s defense is up there with Spain’s for the best in the tournament, with both teams only conceding 0.3 goals per match so far. In fact, Les Bleus actually come out on top when looking at expected data, having conceded only 2.6xGA over the course of EURO 2024, the lowest at the competition. Thus, even against Portugal in MD5, their defenders should be targeted. While Hernandez and Saliba are the most popular picks, Upemacano has been slowly accruing a decent points total, and playing every single minute for France in this tournament.
N’Golo Kante (6m, 10%) also deserves a mention in this section, as he is an absolute ball recovery beast, recovering 17 so far, and delivering 4 points for his efforts. He has also recieved 2 POTM awards, taking home an extra 6 points for his excellent performances. However, he is slightly higher owned, and slightly more expensive than Upemacano, so the Bayern centre-back gets the nod.

Pepe, Price: 5m, TSB 5%
While France have been excellent in defense so far this tournament, their attack has not been as good, as they are yet to score a goal from open play (2 OG, 1 Penalty), so picking a Portuguese defender might be sensible… Pepe has the most points of any Portuguese player at the tournament up to this point with 23, the same as Fernandes’ (15) and Ronaldo’s (8) totals combined.
If Kante is a ball-recovery beast, then Pepe is a ball-recovery monster, having made 30 so far this tournament, the highest of any Portuguese player, and the 3rd highest of any player in the tournament (only including teams who are still in the competition.) Whilst not the most exciting pick, it’s probably a good idea to hedge your bets in this fixture, as it’s unclear which team will progress; Pepe is nailed, good for ball recoveries, playing against a poor attack, and also relatively inexpensive.
2024 Euro Fantasy MD5 Super Differential <1%
Malen, Price: 6.9m TSB 0%
After an outstanding performance from the bench against Romania in MD4, Malen is this weeks Super differential, at 0% ownership and less than 7m. While Gakpo is the outstanding Netherlands attacker, Malen is a great choice for those looking to move away from the template, having bagged 8 points in their most recent fixture. While it may seem reactionary to select a player who had, up until MD4, only returned 1 point, Malen’s underlying numbers are the thing that really stands out. Furthermore, form, in an international tournament, is crucial, due to it being such a small quantity of games in such a short space of time.
Depay is the other Netherlands attacker I would consider, as he is slightly more nailed than Malen, if not less of a goal threat. Depay is not clinical enough, having taken 13 shots, 10 from inside the box, and only scored 1 goal, starting up front in every single game for the Netherlands so far. Thus, for me, Malen, while slightly riskier, is the more exciting option.
