Lowest Scoring Gameweeks Ever in FPL History | Worst FPL GWs

FPL has seen some incredibly low scoring gameweeks since it started in 2002/03. In this blog, let’s take a look at the worst gameweeks in FPL history. In the 2023/24 season alone we have seen two incredibly low scoring gameweeks, GW11 when the average score was only 33 points and blank gameweek 29 when the average score was only 12 points.

Lowest Scoring Gameweeks in FPL History

Since records were kept GW29 of the 23/24 season is the lowest scoring gameweek ever in FPL history with an average of only 12 points. It was a blank gameweek with only eight teams playing.

The Free Hit chip was used by 15.8% of FPL managers(1,705,262 managers) in Gameweek 29, the highest usage of free hit in a gameweek since the free hit chip was introduced in the 17/18 season

The gameweek also had 28,569,859 transfers which is the 3rd most transfers made in a gameweek.

Heung Min Son who was brought by 2,091,060 managers(2nd most transferred in player ahead of Gameweek in FPL history) blanked scoring only two points.

I was also one of the managers to have free hitted in GW29 of the 23/24 season and all my players blanked!

• Reguilon red card and -3 points
• Flekken CS wipeout
• Bowen blank
• Kudus and Douglas Luiz blank and yellow card
• Burnley/C Taylor and Nottingham Forest CS wipeout in the closing stages of the game
• Maddison and Son blank
• Spurs CS wipeout
• Areola CS wipeout
• Doughty subbed off at Half Time
• Morris & Toney blank
• Toney yellow card
• Elanga blank and denied off the line

Team of the week – Gameweek 29, 23/24 Season

Only Antonio was priced above 5.0 Million in the Gameweek 29 team of the week.

Lowest Scoring Gameweeks in FPL History – Gameweek 11, 23/24 Season

Gameweek 29 wasn’t the only horror gameweek of the 23/24 season, earlier in the season GW11 was also a disater gameweek with an average score of only 32 points.

All the top seven popular captain choices in GW11 blanked and most of the popular assets failed to return.

The gameweek also had a lot of drama with red cards, injuries, benching, and early sub offs involving popular FPL assets.

Making things worse, some of the most benched players returned in GW11 further adding to the misery
