FPL GW4 Fixtures & Players To Target
Spurs vs. Nottingham Forest
Bookie Odds Total Goals: 2.5
Spurs Team Analysis
Spurs have been difficult to figure out this season with an amazing performance against Southampton and then failing to appear against Chelsea and Wolves until the second half. Offensively, Spurs have generated most of their attacks via the wings and have scored from two corners. Defensively, Spurs kept allowing chances down the middle and were extremely fortunate not to concede against Wolves.
In GW4, Spurs face a Nottingham Forrest side who have allowed most of their chances down the left side making it a perfect game for Perisic and the struggling Son. Defensively, Spurs will have to limit NFOβs attackers, Awoniyi and Lingard, to preserve their clean sheet. Spurs need to start putting together more convincing performances, and managers should target Spurs players against an NFO side, allowing the most xGC.
Nottingham Forest Team Analysis
After an uninspiring GW1 defeat, Nottinghamβs Forest has shown improvement in their last two matches. Offensively, NFOβs new signings Awoniyi, Lingard, Neco Williams, and forward Brennan Johnson have led the team in chances created. Defensively, NFO needs to improve their defense as they have conceded the most xGC to begin the season.
Against Spurs, Awoniyi will have to do most of the damage down the middle with Neco Williams feeding in balls to attack the vulnerability in the Spurs defense. On defense, NFO will need to contain Son and Perisic down the left flank as Spurs will know that this flank is the weakness in the NFO defense.
Players To Target in FPL GW4 from the Spurs vs Nottingham Forest Fixture(Ranked):
- Ivan Perisic Β£5.4: Returned from injury with a 12-point haul thanks to an assist, a clean sheet, and three bonus points. NFO allows the most chances down Perisicβs flank and is allowing the most xGC. This makes the Croatian one of the best players to target going into gw4.
- Harry Kane Β£11.4: In good form after games with back-to-back goals. Should have more space to drop deep and pick out passes to either Son getting behind the NFO defense. Should be the second-best captaincy option in GW4.
- Heung Min Son Β£11.9: Struggling to start the season with only 1 assist in 3 matches. Should get back in form against an NFO side struggling to defend chances down Sonβs flank. If you own Son, I would keep him one more week.
- Dejan Kulusevski Β£8.2: Come down to earth after his haul in GW1. He is still an integral part of the Spursβ attack, as shown by his minutes and often staying on the pitch after Son is subbed off. Against the defense allowing the most xGC, Kulusevski is a great pick.
- Emerson Royal Β£5.0: Spurs wingbacks are a cheat code, and Royal appears to be ahead of the pecking order for the RWB spot. His end product is not the best, but for those managers without funds to get Perisic, Royal is a good plan B.
Liverpool vs. Bournemouth
Bookie Odds Total Goals: 3.5
Liverpool Team Analysis
A SHOCKING 2-1 defeat against Manchester United does sound off the alarm bells for Liverpoolβs assets. On Defense, Liverpool is desperately missing Konate/Matip, as most of the chances that Liverpool concede are down the middle. Offensively, Liverpool assets are still creating chances but are struggling with the end product. I still recommend holding on to the Liverpool Assets, as a Home matchup against Bournemouth should be just what Liverpool needs to get back on track. Bournemouth concedes the 2nd most chances down the Right Flank making Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold great assets to target.Β
Bournemouth Team Analysis
After an impressive GW1 win, Bournemouth was hit with the harsh reality of the Premier League with back-to-back demolitions by Arsenal and Manchester City. Offensively, Bournemouth is creating a few chances, most of which come from the Left Flank and corners. Defensively, it is too early to judge Bournemouth truly, but most of their Chances Conceded are down the Right Flank. Against Liverpool, Bournemouth will need to sure up the back and not give Liverpool easy gifts. Nonetheless, Bournemouth has conceded the 2nd most goals this season, making Liverpool assets great players to target in GW4.
Players To Target in FPL GW4 from the Liverpool vs Bournemouth Fixture(Ranked):
- Mohammad Salah (Β£13.0): Still producing despite not looking the best. 2 goals and 1 assist and is one of the best captain options this GW. Bournemouth struggles to defend Salahβs flank, so he should have plenty of chances.
- Trent Alexander-Arnold (Β£7.5): Horrible start to the season with no clean sheets or attacking returns. He leads all defenders in xGI, so the returns should start coming starting with a great fixture against Bournemouth in GW4.
- Luis Diaz (Β£8.0): He always looks like a threat when he is on the ball. Low xGI of 0.70, but without Nunez on the team, Liverpool will look to the Colombian as a scoring outlet. I Would not sell for another Β£8.0 mids, at least for another GW.
- Andrew Robertson (Β£6.9): Disappointing with no attacking returns and clean sheets. Worrying that he has been subbed off in back-to-back games for Tsimikas, perhaps hinting at a potential rotation when European football starts. Still worth holding on for one more GW and reassessing in GW5.
Do vote in the captaincy poll for this week below. The captaincy metrics blog from @AK_FPL1 will be posted based on the votes. The metrics had a 30/38 record last season and so far has a 3/3 record with Haaland topping the metrics in GW3.
Arsenal vs. Fulham
Bookie Odds Total Goals: 2.5
Arsenal Team Analysis
What a start for Arsenal, with three straight wins and firing on all cylinders. Offensively, Jesus has been both the creative and scoring outlet for Arsenal alongside Γdegaard. Martinelli has also created plenty of chances getting behind defenders with Γdegaard and Jesus picking out passes for Martinelli. Defensively, Saliba has brought stability to the backline alongside Gabriel, and most of their Chances Conceded come down Zinchenkoβs flank.
In GW4, Arsenal will face a tricky Fulham side who already caused Liverpool problems. Offensively, Fulham has conceded most of their chances from the left corner, and Sakaβs flank maybe hinting at a possible Saka bounce-back performance. Defensively, Arsenal will need to focus on stopping Mitrovic and keep doing a good job at covering Zinchenko. Arsenal should still create plenty of chances against Fulham making it their assets great players to target.Β
Fulham Team Analysis
Another impressive performance by Fulham, who, thanks to Pereira and Mitrovic, were able to defeat Brentford 3-2. Offensively, Fulhamβs chances have come from either corners or crosses into the box for Mitrovic. Defensively, Fulham struggle defending corners and concede most of their chances from the right.
In GW4, Fulhamβs best chance to score would be to attack down the right side and feed balls to Mitrovic in the box. Defensively, Fulham cannot let Γdegaard and Jesus get comfortable touches on the ball because it will be a long day for Fulham if Liverpool gets space. Mitrovic should be the only player worth starting for Fulham, and Pereira is an option for managers struggling with other fires to put out.Β
Players To Target in FPL GW4 from the Arsenal vs Fulham Fixture(Ranked):
- Gabriel Jesus Β£8.0: Unlucky not to come away with more than an assist against Bournemouth. Should find plenty of opportunities against Fulham. If Arsenal scores, then Jesus is most likely going to be involved.
- Gabriel Martinelli Β£6.4: Proving to be the best value asset in FPL with another assist in GW3. 2 goals and 1 assist in the first three should keep him in the starting XI. If you do not have him, he is must own at the moment.
- William Saliba Β£4.6: The tequila man scored a golazo at the weekend. Will continue to start, and having a mostly nailed Arsenal defender for so cheap is too good to pass up.
- Aleksandar Mitrovic Β£6.6: 3 goals in 3 games after doubts over his ability to perform in the Premier League. If Fulham scores, then the Serbian will surely be involved. Mitrovicβs current form makes him a great forward to target.
- Bukayo Saka Β£7.9: Saka has looked uninspiring in the first three games. This should be the last GW that managers trust him before pulling the plug. Still has the ability to provide a haul week in and week out, so worth a look against Fulham.
