FPL GW24 Differential Picks to Consider Ahead of Deadline

What is the worst possible thing to encounter after a horrible Gameweek? Indeed, a long break. It is far better to have another set of matches after a bad week, as we could move on quickly. But the past fortnight has been a slow burner to say the least. Nonetheless, the Premier League is finally back, and with lots of double and blank GWs coming up it is necessary to make the most of the free transfers. Lets take a look at the best differentials that will help to improve your rank ahead of FPL GW24.

FPL GW24 Differential Picks(<10% TSB)

Andrew Robertson vs Leicester(H)

FPL GW24 Differential picks ~ Andy Robertson
Robbo’s return to form gives a massive headache for FPL managers

In the past, managers have had it easy when it comes to picking three Liverpool players. Salah, Trent, and Robbo will be the trio for the vast majority of us. However, Diogo Jota has made it impossible for us to have it easy this season. But two goals and two assists in the last eight league games puts Jota’s credibility in jeopardy. In contrast, Robertson has 1 goal and 7 assists in his last 8 matches.

The signing of Luis Diaz and the return to full fitness of Bobby Firmino doesn’t do any favors for Jota either. Essentially Liverpool now has 5 attackers to choose from for 3 spots. It is safe to assume that Salah is un-droppable, which means only 2 of the other 4 will start. On the other hand, Andy Robertson is nailed on pretty much. That gives more leverage to favor the fullback over the midfielder.

The Liverpool left-back has been the best player in the league statistically since Gameweek 13. Robertson, despite only playing 8 games since then, tops the charts for BCC(6), Assists(7), and Bonus points(13). Only Bowen(67) has more points in FPL in that time than the Scotsman(66). However, the former has played 3 games more than the latter.

Liverpool have an amazing run of fixtures coming up, including a double in GW26. Our suggestion is to pick Robertson if you are on a wildcard ahead of FPL GW24. Otherwise, if you have two free transfers which can enable you to bring in Salah in place of Jota and bring in Robertson, we would give that a green light as well!

Riyad Mahrez vs Brentford(H)

FPL GW24 Differential picks ~ Riyad Mahrez
It looks like that time of the season where Mahrez goes on a run

If we are given a device which can predict which matches Mahrez will start, it will probably help us FPL managers gain a massive rise in the OR. The Algerian has 4 goals and 3 assists in his last 4 Premier League starts. Yes, you read that right. That is indeed seven goal contributions in 4 matches. The curious part is, which only Pep can understand, is he has been left out in three games in between.

Why now is the time for Mahrez?

  • Raheem Sterling is been on the decline in the past few weeks. He missed a gilt-edged opportunity against Southampton, after which he was taken off even before the hour mark. To cap it off, Sterling was dropped for the FA cup game. Mahrez started in his stead, registered two goals and an assist
  • Gabriel Jesus is the other player who has been deployed on the right side this season. He too has had a dip and is also an injury doubt going into FPL GW24
  • Mahrez is on penalties still when he starts, as we saw him take the penalty in the FA cup tie against Fulham

Unlike other big teams, Manchester City do not have a double Gameweek coming up. However, their next two games are against Brentford and Norwich. Therefore, Mahez is a very good two week punt, before you can transfer him out for a double GW player.

Richarlison vs Newcastle(A)

FPL GW24 Differential picks ~ Richarlison
Richarlison to help revive Everton’s season?

Truth be told, Everton needed some sort of a morale boost. Frank Lampard’s arrival might have given the Toffees exactly that. The Merseyside club managed to pull off a resounding 4-1 victory in their FA cup tie against Brentford. Richarlison was on target on that day. The Brazilian played as the striker in a 3-4-3 formation.

Frank Lampard didn’t sound all that positive when asked about DCL. Everton’s number 9 has been struggling for fitness since GW3 onwards. Because the Toffees have an amazing run of fixtures in the next 3 weeks, it is safe to pick a fit and firing Richarlison over a weary-looking Calvert-Lewin.

Everton’ fixtures

Everton take on Newcastle in FPL GW24. Richarlison has 2 goals and 2 assists in 6 matches against the Magpies. Furthermore, he has 6 goal contributions(5 G 1 A) on 8 matches against Southampton, against whom Frank Lampard’s men play in Matchday 26.

Everton’s number 7, we believe would be a good replacement for someone like a Josh King or Michail Antonio.

Diogo Dalot vs Burnley(A)

FPL GW24 Differential picks ~ Diogo Dalot
Is he the best cut price defender in FPL at the moment?

Diogo Dalot has been a shining light for Manchester United since Ralf Rangnick tookover. The Portuguese fullback has started 7 out of the 9 league games since the arrival of the new manager. He has helped the Red Devils keep 3 clean sheets in that time.

The points tally of Dalot doesn’t really justify her performances. In fact, only De Gea(192) has a better BPS than the defender(161) among Manchester United players since GW14. Dalot was on three bonus points before Ivan Toney snatched a consolation for Brentford two weeks back, he followed that up with a clean sheet and 3 bonus points against West Ham.

Rangnick’s men have an amazing run of games coming up. Four out of their next five games have an FDR of 2. They also double in GW25. For starters, in FPL GW24, they take on Burnley, a team that are second lowest for goals scored in the league. Therefore, chances of United keeping a clean sheet is very high.

Michael Olise vs Norwich(A)

FPL GW24 Differential picks ~ Michael Olise
Olise finally seems to have gotten into his stride

Michael Olise had a frustrating season until the turn of the new year. The youngster missed the first three games of the season due to injury, post which he hadn’t really gotten up to speed until GW21. Having been three goals down at half time against West Ham, Viera threw on his potential trump card. Olise nearly helped Palace pull off a stunning comeback, as he registered a goal and an assist. That essentially was the trigger he needed.

Post the West Ham game, Olise has started all 4 games(in all comps) that Palace has played. He has 2 goals and 2 assists in that time. During this period, he also started back-to-back Premier League games for the first time this season.

Olise is a creative midfielder. That is proven by the fact that he registered 12 assists in the championship last season, to go along with his 7 goals. With Zaha coming back, the chances of the Frenchman getting attacking returns is higher, especially considering the fixtures the Eagles have in the next month or so.

Crystal Palace’s fixtures

As we can see, Viera’s men have a kind run of games including a double GW. If you are on a wildcard, Olise is the kind of player worth gambling on as he is a low-risk high reward option.

Josh Sargent vs Crystal Palace(H)

FPL GW24 Differential picks ~ Josh Sargent
Sargent’s form could be key for Norwich’s survival chances

Josh Sargent has played a crucial part in helping Norwich climb out of the bottom three for the first time this season. The Canaries have won back-to-back games for the first time in a long time. Sargent has registered 2 goals and an assist in the last 2 matches.

Four of Norwich’s next 6 Premier League games have an FDR of 2. They also don’t blank in GW27. This means that bringing in Sargent might be a wise move, especially considering we are short of options in the forward position.

Numbers game

  • Norwich will be looking to win three games in a row in the league for the first time since December 2012
  • Josh Sargent became the first player to score more than 1 goal in a game for Norwich since Pukki did it against Newcastle back in 2019.
  • Crystal Palace’s away form is in stark contrast to their home form. The Eagles have only won one game on the road all season, and guess what, that was at the Etihad. Make sense of it the way you will!
