ALLABOUTFPL GW10 Review

GW10 proved to be the best game week of the season so far, with loads of goals, penalties, Red cards, and late drama thanks to VAR. All this meant only one thing the average points went up this week after two bad weeks, So let us look at the key 5 talking points, weekend in numbers and ALLABOUTFPL dream team of the week.

Foxes devour Saints on Friday Night:

Leicester City had a point to prove to everyone who doubted whether they belonged in the top four this season and they proved their point with a BANG!

The 2015 champions managed to put 9 past the home side and broke the record of most goals scored by an away team. The first goal was put in by England’s left back Ben Chilwell as he continued his run into the box and gently placed the ball into the net. But, the main reason behind the goal was an error by Ryan Bertrand who lost possession in their own half and tried to regain the ball by lunging in recklessly, this was pulled back and awarded a red card by the VAR officials. Then things went quickly from bad to worse within a few minutes for Ralph’s men as goals from Leicester summer signing Perez, Vardy and Tielemans saw them go into the tunnel 0-5 behind at halftime.

As, the second half began all where hoping for the southampton players to display some back bone but it was unlikely as they allowed Leicester to dictate the game with ease and put 4 more past them allowing both Perez and Vardy to complete their hat tricks.

Captain America lands in England:

Christian Pulisic the American Sensation that was signed by Chelsea as a replacement for Eden Hazard has finally proved his worth in a Chelsea. Again credit must be given to Super Frank for gently pacing him into the side and the physicality of the Premier League.

Pulisic is the first Chelsea player to score a perfect hattrick after their club legend Drogba. The american scored completed his hattrick by scoring first with his left then right and finishing it off with a well timed header in the second half.
If he continues to perform at this rate he puts himself in serious contention to start every weekend for the Blue side of London.
Only Tammy Abraham (8) and Mason Mount (4) have scored more Premier League goals for Chelsea this season than Christian Pulisic (3).

SCOTT Mcsauce McTOMINAY

Manchester United as we all know have had a really rough start to their season. But, there have been some unlikely hero’s that have stepped up for the Mancunians this season. One of them is Scott Mctominay the Scotland born midfielder broke into the first team during the former coach Jose Mourinho and has kept his place and gained the trust of the Old Trafford faithful.
With the departure of Ander Herrara and the consistent injuries to the Paul Pogba, Scott Mctominay has stepped up and been the player that runs the midfield for Manchester United.
The 22-year old has a really experienced and calm mentality in the game and keeps his gameplay pretty simple. He excels at running the play and keeps the ball moving sitting deep inside United half. He also drives with the ball at his feet to create goal scoring opportunities.

The players like Daniel James, Marcus Rashford and Martial also benefit from the performances of Scott as he keeps on running until the end and wins the ball high up the pitch for United to create quick attacks.

VAR drama at Emirates:

Arsenal took on Crystal Palace at the Emirates during Sunday as they looked to establish a lead over the sixth placed London rivals with a win. The game started pretty well for the gunners as the went two up within the first 30 minutes of the game with goals from Sokratis and David Luiz which put them in a commanding position of 2-0.

But, things took a rough turn and momentum shifted completely towards palace as Zaha who was linked to Arsenal during the summer was fouled in the box leading to a penalty.
Palace came back into the game with the score being 2-1 as the teams went in for halftime. As soon as the second half began, palace put on pressure at the right situations and started creating more chances and eventually they equalized with the help of Ayew.

But, there was more controversy when Arsenal’s center back Sokratis scored again to put the gunners into the lead. But, the goal was chopped off due a dodgy foul inside the palace box in the 82nd minute. The game ended 2-2 which put Arsenal 4 points behind the top four.

KLOPP’s MEN MARCH ON:

The league leaders Liverpool put all the doubts behind and secured all the three points at Anfield against Spurs to re-establish their six-point advantage over defending champions Manchester City.
The game had a rocky start for the league leaders as Harry Kane scored a goal in the first minute with help from Son who set him up.
That was a perfect wake up call as the Merseyside team dominated the rest of the game. The front combined very well, their one-two touch play left many spurs players chasing their shadows. But, a spirited performance from the second keeper Gazzaniga kept Spurs in the game.
His heroic was finally broken as the skipper Jordan Henderson scored a goal for the leaders to equalize.

As mentioned in our BigMatchPreview all eyes where on the Mane vs Aurier battle, the Frenchmen dealt with the forward extremely well, but due to lapse of judgment and late tackle he tripped Mane inside the box for Liverpool to win a penalty.

Step Up Mo Salah the Egyptian marked his return after missing the derby against their fierce rivals Man United by slotting home the winner and help his team secure the three points that will keep them at the top for yet another week.

WEEKEND IN NUMBERS:

• Ayoze Pérez has now scored a hat-trick in back-to-back Premier League against Southampton
• Jamie Vardy, GW10’s 2nd most transferred in a player, scored 3 & got an assist for his 15.4% #FPL ownership
• Marcus Rashford’s stats were encouraging as he grabbed another goal away at Norwich. The most shots of any forward this GW with 6 – of these shots, 5 were inside the box and 4 were on target. The second highest penalty box touches too (9) and third-highest xG (1.52)
• Trent Alexander-Arnold’s total of 20 crosses against Spurs was more than double that of the next highest defender in GW10 (Rico – 9). He also had twice the amount of successful crosses (6) compared to the next highest defender (3 – Van Aanholt).
• Man City only scored 3 times against Villa, but still had a higher number of total shots (26) than Leicester did against Southampton (25). However, City’s shot accuracy (34%) was almost half that of Leicester’s (60%) and a significantly lower xG (City 2.89, Leicester 4.68).
