Donnaruma (5.7m) comes into our team off the back of an (almost) humiliating result against Fulham in FPL GW14. Pep’s side conceded 4 to the Cottagers in midweek, only coming away with 3 points thanks to the brilliance of Haaland, Foden X2, Reijnders, and an own goal… City actually only conceded 0.91xGA in that game, so were unlucky to concede so many. With that in mind, we still think that City’s defensive cover is a must going into this weekend, considering their excellent defensive record thus far.

City ranks 3rd for xGA and 6th for goals against, making them a team to target from a defensive perspective. Pep’s side face a Sunderland side that were unable to capitalise on Liverpool’s capitulation, and one that certainly fare better at home than away from it. Sunderland have scored just 4 goals away from home this season (2nd fewest in the league), and looked fairly timid against a Liverpool side that were there for the taking on Wednesday night. With rotation likely, Donnarumma looks like a safe bet for those looking to bet on a City cs this weekend!

Hall (5.2m), Timber (6.4m), and Munoz (6.0m) make up our back three for FPL GW15…

Hall comes in as our Newcastle defensive cover as the Magpies face Burnley in FPL GW15. Newcastle have surprisingly good defensive numbers and almost defeated Spurs to a 2-0 victory in FPL GW14 before Romero scored 2 late goals to snatch a draw. Howe’s side also boasts the second-best xGA in the league. Burnley, on the other hand, have the third-lowest xG in the league and have scored the fourth fewest goals going into this game, so they are definitely one to target from a defensive perspective. With Arsenal facing injuries in their backline, and City covered by Donnarumma between the sticks, the Magpies’ young LB looks like an excellent choice for this weekend’s round of fixtures.

Timber retains his spot in the team, having come on during the first half of the match against Brentford to replace Mosquera. Arsenal’s defense is now in some serious trouble when it comes to injuries, making Timber both more and less attractive as an option. Arsenal have evidently lost some of their defensive stability through injury, but the system remains intact, so going without an Arsenal defensive asset still feels a bit mad. We’re sticking with Timber for FPL GW15 as the Gunners travel to Villa Park for the early kick-off on Saturday.

Munoz FPL

Finally, we have Munoz. The Colombian produced a double-digit haul against Burnley in FPL GW14, scoring the only goal of the game and helping his side to keep a CS. Palace weren’t great in that game, but Munoz’s strike was the difference, and we’re backing him to have an influence on Palace’s next game too, as the Eagles travel across London to face Fulham on Sunday afternoon. Munoz is one of the most attacking defensive assets in the game, and while Fulham have scored a huge number of goals in the last few GWs, their underlying numbers suggest that they’ve been getting lucky. Munoz is such a diverse FPL asset, scoring points in so many different ways; he’s an excellent asset to hold for FPL GW15!

FPL GW15 Scout Picks – Midfielders

We’ve gone for a midfield four of Bruno (9.0m), Mbeumo (8.6m), Foden (8.2m), and Eze (7.8m) for FPL GW15…

Bruno and Mbeumo are enjoying great seasons for United thus far, with the duo amassing 13 goal contributions between them. Bruno, in particular, has been in fine form of late, producing 2 assists for his teammates in FPL GW13 in their 2-1 victory over Palace. In that game, Bruno created 4 chances, taking him to the top of the chances created chart with 35. He is a creative hub even when playing in a deeper role. He did blank against West Ham in GW14 but still had a healthy xGI of 0.7 and created five chances for his teammates & also had a big chance himself, while also hitting DEFCON points.

Mbeumo blanked again in that game(GW13) and also blanked in the Thursday night game vs West Ham(GW14), making it 3 games without a goal for United’s summer signing. As I wrote in last week’s piece, “Mbeumo’s 5 goals and 1 assist make him United’s leading goalscorer this season, and his underlying numbers (0.37xG/90 + 0.21xA/90) make him a very attractive option when his minutes are secure.” He continues to get into scoring positions and remains the best United asset alongside Bruno, going into FPL GW15. United travel to Wolves, who remain winless and bottom of the league.

Foden keeps his spot in the team after another phenomenal return in FPL GW14 against Fulham. 2 chances created, 2 shots, 2 goals, and 3 bonus points to top it all off, well done Foden owners! Foden’s numbers are on the rise, and so are his FPL ownership numbers, so now might be the time to jump on… 0.3xG/90 + 0.2xA/90 means a goal or assist every other game, Foden is currently overperforming those numbers, highlighting his excellent form. Pep Roulette is always a risk, but we’re backing Foden again in FPL GW15.

Eze comes in as our Arsenal cover for FPL GW15 due to financial constraints and injuries to key players. Originally, we wanted to go for Rice (more nailed etc.), but the Englishman came off injured in Arsenal’s victory over Brentford, so we are going for option Eze instead. The ex-palace man has been in great form recently, and has scoredย 4 goals and provided 2 assists so far this season. His position in the team is not unquestionable, but his versatility means he could be deployed in the 8, 10, or on either wing. Eze is currently taking more shots than any other Arsenal player and is averaging 0.36xGI/90. His quality is clear, let’s just hope he’s not benched.

Haaland (14.9), Woltemade (7.4), and Thiago (6.7m) complete the team…

Haaland naturally keeps his place and the captaincy for FPL GW15. Haaland scored his 100th Premier League goal in what was just his 111th Premier League game in midweek against Fulham, ending a drought of 2 games without a goal. The striker has now scored 15 goals and provided 3 assists in just 14 matches in the league so far this season, so it’s safe to say he is an essential asset! It may be boring, but the points speak for themselves – Haaland is our captain for FPL GW15!

Woltemade comes back into the team following an exquisite performance against Everton in FPL GW14. Newcastle’s striker looked so elegant in their 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Tuesday night, providing an assist, creating 3 chances, and taking 2 shots.

That’s now 7 goal involvements in just 11 matches so far this campaign for the summer signing. Newcastle face Burnley in FPL GW15, a side that ranks second bottom for goals conceded and bottom for expected goals conceded. Woltemade goes into this game in fantastic form and is unlikely to be dropped, something which cannot be said about his fellow attacking teammates…

Thiago FPL

Thiago puts the icing on the cake that is the FPL GW15 Scout Picks! Brentford’s striker was rested in midweek, coming on with about half an hour to go against Arsenal in a desperate attempt to snatch a point. Thiago has 11 goals this season and boasts one of the best xG/90 in the league (0.86). He is the fulcrum of Brentford’s attack and is a threat from set pieces (as well as being on penalties!). Brentford travel to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium to play a side that have the 2nd worst home record in the league and have conceded 9 goals in 7 matches at home thus far. In their last home match, Spurs lost 2-1 to Fulham and looked dejected and tired from the first minute (something a whirlwind trip to St James’ Park in midweek will not have helped with!).
